The fall is a great time to be in Durango: Aspens are changing colors, so driving or road riding through the mountain passes is absolutely gorgeous! Temperatures are perfect in Durango for outdoor activities (hiking and biking). You can also ride trails in Farmington and Cortez (the famous Phil's World trail) which are usually too hot to do in the summer. Lake Nighthorse is still open to SUPing, swimming, and boating until November 1st. Also enjoy beautiful Vallecito lake. It is also the best time to visit Mesa Verde NP, just 45 min away. Durango is not as crowded as in the summer.

Our house:
Our in-town contemporary spacious 3-bedroom house has an open floor plan and breathtaking La Plata mountain views. Lots of light and 2 outdoor areas to enjoy. The house sleeps 6 people. Sip your coffee on the front porch looking at the mountains or enjoy a barbecue in the secluded backyard, or cozy up by the fireplace and watch a movie.

Minutes from downtown Durango with restaurants and shops; access to a large network of trails straight from the backyard; minutes from the river (kayak, raft, swim, fish); 15-minute drive to lake Nighthorse; endless outdoor recreation opportunities within a 30-minute drive, including Purgatory ski area with summer activities, skiing/snowboarding, and xc skiing. La Plata Canyon and Vallecito xc skiing are 30 and 40 minutes away, respectively. Backcountry skiing opportunities abound in a 1-hour radius.
