Location, location, location makes up for ants, non-working jacuzzi, porch screen falling out, old, falling-apart beach gear, no welcome packet to describe things like: where the outside garbage goes or what’s expected at check out. When I texted to say there was no soap, shampoo or conditioner in the bathroom mounted containers a wonderful woman showed up right away and was very nice. She took care of it right away. But knowing this rental was owned by Vacasa, left me wondering if they cared at all. Price was good for the location. We loved being able to walk to the beach, boardwalk and restaurants. But the place needs some tender loving care. Two of the bedrooms were very well appointed, the third was a bit of an afterthought. I had read about the ants in older reviews and thought maybe it had been rectified. There was a lot of bug spray and ant traps around, but I have a blood condition and using pesticides can make it worse. The cinnamon I spread around the counters worked.

Our family loved the location- walking distance to the beach made for lovely days and evenings. Details and execution could be better. The outdoor space needs love and would like the cleaning/turnover team to ensure the unit has all essentials stocked (as advertised) before allowing for check in.

Great Location -- Sweet Place to Stay

This house was very bright and accommodating. We barely used what we could have (didn't grill out, etc.) But it is there. The location is ideal for walking into town, or across the street to the parks. (I imagine if you had littles this rental would be great, too.) Cozy, but with enough space to spread out.

Excellent location

Charming 3 bedroom within walking distance to Bethany Beach. The price was great and the location even better. We enjoyed the stay and the very minor issues were addressed the moment we reported them. I would stay here again!

Poorly maintained residence

Garage door damaged and would not close. Dryer was not operational. Low propane in the grill and had to refill. Bunk bed railing not attached properly and bunk bed railing was not on bed on the side that faced away from wall making it unusable by a child. Bed sheets were not on bed. No dish towels. Made calls to Vacasa multiple times and communicated through text line throughout stay for updates and trying to get issues resolved throughout stay without having anything resolved. A local rep came on Monday evening which was nice for something that we did not call about and told us that this was delayed due to property manager and home owner. I am looking to receive compensation for these issues as they caused me and my family to go to a laundromat during our stay which we wanted to stay at a residence to do laundry at a residence to maximize the 5 days at Bethany Beach. Could not lock beach items in garage because it would not close all the way which made coming and going a pain. I would have stayed at a hotel which would have been less expensive even and closer to the beach with the abilities to have clean towels and amenities. I do not believe Vacasa to not know about any of these issues as the knob to the dryer was sitting on the dryer and was seen by a minimum of the cleaning staff. The floors were not moped but were vacuumed which you could see a dark layer around stove and refrigerator from caked on dirt. Ants and other bugs seen throughout property.

Memorial Day weekend

House is a short walk to the boardwalk and beach. The top floor gets a lot of good light and the ample windows let in a great breeze. The house is a little dated and the ants that others have found in the kitchen are still there - though they disappeared when we moved the toaster off the counter.

Lovely house but condition disappointing

We enjoyed an 8-night stay at this house in Bethany and overall, our family had a pleasant vacation. However, there were some concerns regarding the condition and cleanliness of the house. Upon our arrival, we discovered a dirty diaper hidden under the sofa and a corn cob stored in a zip-lock bag inside the microwave. There was someone’s clothes found in second bedroom’s closet dresser, and no drying towel in the downstairs bathroom, and some ants found on living room floor and kitchen counter. Although the majority of the house appeared clean, these oversights were concerning. In terms of maintenance: The oven struggled to preheat, stalling at 135 degrees for over 30 minutes. The whirlpool tub in the master bedroom failed to function properly. The front screen door was missing an entire panel, and the master bedroom balcony screen door was also damaged. Several lights were out, including the vanity light in the second upstairs bathroom. No working clocks/ Cd player not playing CDs. After reporting the initial cleanliness issues, we chose not to further reach out to Vacasa's support. Perhaps if we had, they might have addressed/resolved the problems promptly. However, our goal was to relax on our vacation, not to manage house repairs. On the positive side, internet connection was excellent, the TVs were of high quality, and we appreciated the FireTV system. In conclusion, while the house is lovely and well-situated, its condition left something to be desired.

Property very nice. Dishwasher was full on arrival, wasn't sure if clean so washed again and put away. Had to buy batteries for TV remotes and clocks, which most clocks don't work. Came back from the beach on Sat. 6/10/23 @ about 6:00pm to find a new carpet in the dining room. Whomever entered the house turned up the AC and closed all the upstairs vents, my husband opened them upon arrival on Fri. The house was close to 80 when we returned. I understand maintenance can enter when needed. Would have been nice to receive an email/text stating someone entered the house.

Issue with internet (Wi-Fi, TV cable)

The house was clean and the location is within walking distance to the beach. However, we are very disappointed with the lack of internet (Wi-Fi, TV cable) there. My wife and I are working from home so having the internet is critical for us. We altered the Vacasa team right away and exchanged messages with them for the next few days, but no technician ever came and the issue was unfortunately never fixed.

Appalling Property Management Company

This is the first time I have left a bad review on vrbo. The property definitely had issues, but I feel that they could have been fixable with better communication and execution from Vacasa, the management company. The most serious issue with the property was the lack of working wifi. As a result of the failed internet/cable connection into the house, the TVs in the house were also effectively not usable. When we left the next day (we were originally scheduled to stay four nights instead of one), we tried to run a load of dishes and discovered that the dishwasher was also not working. So in effect, 3 major “amenities” that were listed for the house, which were part of the reason why we selected it, were not functioning. Again, the most serious of the problems was the non-functioning wifi. We came in late on Thursday night before Easter Sunday. We contacted the listed Property Management Group, Vacasa, as soon as they could be reached by phone at 9AM. We went to the local office to make our problems known. A tech came by noon but indicated that the homeowner needed to do something. At around 1:30PM, given that we had total lack of follow-up communication regarding a solution, and the likelihood that a cable company employee would be deployed on a Friday afternoon before a holiday weekend, we returned to the local Vacasa office and told them that we had to check out early. We received a phone call an hour and forty minutes after we interacted with the local Vacasa office to let them know we were leaving. It appears that the caller was the first person with the apparent authority to present us with a solution. It was the first time that anyone indicated that they could provide us with an alternate property – I told her we were too far into our drive to turn back. If they had presented us with that option at 9AM, 10AM, 1:30/1:45PM when we left, we probably would have took it – but we didn’t even know it was an option. When I asked her why no one communicated any of this earlier or provided us with an option for an alternative property earlier when we had indicated our problem at 9AM, she replied: “I had other calls to make and I’m not even the manager for this property.” The various sets of employees clearly did not communicate amongst each other that we were prepared to leave at 9AM and need to be offered a solution imminently. No one should rent a Vacasa managed property. The homeowner is not being well-served and is paying too much.

Location is the only redeeming quality

I chose this house for our beach vacation because it looked nice and the location was perfect. Only a block from town and the playground, across the street from the park, and two blocks from the beach we thought it would be the perfect place to stay. However, upon checking in, we quickly found the house was filthy, not kept up by the owners, and falling apart. We had my 11 month old granddaughter with us, and after only 10 minutes in the house, her hands and feet were jet black from crawling around. The carpet had a ton stains, one of which was still wet upon our arrival. We had to call Vacasa to have maintenance come and fix multiple things: 1) the fridge whose water had been disconnected so it wasn't making ice, 2) three screens that were falling off, one of which had rusted and stripped screws on the ground next to it that the baby or one of us could have stepped on, and 3) to remove a metal chair on the deck whose arms were rusted with sharp exposed metal. We later saw that two other chairs were in the same condition. The screened in porch was also filthy, again resulting in my granddaughters hands turning black from touching the screens. They had to send out a cleaning crew to sweep, wipe down, and remove massive spider webs from the area. The showers were terrible. The master bathroom shower doors were caked in water buildup, the shower head no pressure and sprayed everywhere but where you wanted it, and the Jacuzzi tub had dirt buildup and sand in it. The second bathroom upstairs was the same as far as the shower head and the shower curtain liner was so dirty it was brown on the bottom. Vacasa did send over a new liner to fix the issue. One of the French doors in the master bedroom was taped shut along the bottom with packing tape and none of us would walk on the balcony as it was dirty and had loose boards and screws that were backed out of the boards and exposed. I could go on and on, so below is a list of other disappointments. 1) Microwave would randomly stop working. 2) Laundry room closet doors were off their hinges. 3) Dryer was hard to turn on. 4) Some of the pots and pans were dirty with food. 5) Glass table on the back porch was filthy. 6) Wooden Adirondack chair on the porch was rickety. 7) Dirty linens from previous guests were left in the outside bin the whole time we were there. 8) Rug in the living room looked like it had never been vacuumed. 9) Couch had crumbs under the cushions. 10) Spike sticking up and out of the ground at the base of the front step/stoop. My daughter caught her shoe on it and almost face planted on the second day. 11) Placemats and tablecloth were dirty. I am not one to complain as I understand that no rental is perfect. However, we have been renting for years and have never seen a place like this before. I will say, the stove and oven were great and the pots and pans that were clean were great quality. When I called Vacasa about these issues, they did there best to rectify them. I was also informed by the agent that owners are given the option to power wash and clean the carpets at either the beginning or end of the season. I feel that most of the blame falls on the owners not Vacasa.

Very good location, Nice house. A bit disappointed that the fireplace did not work and we had no heat on the first floor. The temp dropped into the 30's the one night and we could not stay downstairs. We had to call for a repairs which did happen but had no heat until 4:00 the next day.

Nice home

Everything was good. There were a few things that need a little more attention from the cleaning company. The vent over the main bed was very dirty and the shower door needs a good cleaning. It needs a little TLC. Dryer knobs were broken. They sent a service guy out and needed to order new knobs but we still could use it with the help of pliers. The toilet seat was broken and a lot of the kitchen cabinets don't latch shut. Vacasa was very proactive with dryer issue. All in all it's a good home. Great location. Close to beach and downtown area. We love Bethany Beach. Had a good time.

Great place!

We were in town for a friend’s wedding. The house location is perfect! You can walk anywhere. And it’s a 5 min walk to the beach. The house itself is super cute, nice back porch situation. The rooms are spacious and clean, lots of light. The check in and check out was easy and contactless. Just one thing - the coffee machine is a disaster haha But a little french press was handy.

Great for teens

I stayed her for 2 weeks. The first week with my wife and two sons (13/15). The second week with my youngest son and two friends his age. The house is very close to everything. A giant park, the shops downtown including arcade, comic store, lots of food, and the beach. It was easy for me to work during the day and feel confident the kids were safe, close and busy. The house is quant and sits on a pipestem so is quiet despite the proximity to the major arteries into Bethany.

While the property was in general good condition, there were several issues that reduced the comfort. If it was a longer than a 3 night stay, I would have been harsher with the rating. Examples of issues include, dirty grill - the public grills in parks are cleaner; broken patio chairs on the master patio and busted screens making the patio not useable; front porch needs cleaning and screens need repair; the cushions on the couch/chairs have lots of stains; the top bunk which we didn’t use looks like a health hazard- broken rail; there was broken glass by the front door which my son step on and was cut; no light on the back patio; no ice maker in the fridge; etc. We plan on going back to DE often but will not stay at this house again. It’s the little things that make a vacation fantastic and this house is in need of some TLC. Great location .
