Annually we spend at least 1 month in France instead of buying a property. This year we chose "les Roses".It was a perfect choice.
French owners are on site and are charming, discreet but most personable. The gite ( originally the millwheel housing of "l'ancien moulin") has been tastefully renovated. The thick, limestone walls make for a quiet apartement - the view from the 1st floor balcony is exceptional, over the river, where herons, egrets and cormorants are very active.
Walks in all directions on solid ground are available for strollers, hikers or cyclists. There is an excellent LiO/SNCF
bus service (890 & 891) within easy walking distance. La Guingette is 400 m from the gite, where the food & drinks (in season) are recommended - we were frequently there.
Fruit from the garden ( framboise, figues & apples) appeared on the balcony table. Our hosts ( Jeanne & Alain Creunier) were most accommodating despite our 'fractured french'. I was particularly grateful for the cool garage as a place to leave our little, open car in the unusually high temperatures this month.
We having nothing but happy memories of our stay.
