We had an amazing stay at the Torch Lake House! The home was nestled in the backyard trees which made the stay feel real cozy. The inside of the house had a wonderful clean, open, and light feel that was very inviting. Every detail was attended to that allowed for a wonderful experience. It was in close walking distance to the beautiful Torch lake. We even enjoyed using the two kayaks provided. And in the front yard, we grilled up some delicious fish we caught on Lake Michigan. There were plenty of boat rental companies around the lake too. Do try to make reservations ahead of time! Thank you for your wonderful accommodations you provided for our family!!

When we first arrived, we were excited. The home was clean, spacious, & initially appeared to be as advertised. However, I was disappointed by the condition of the exterior. The front yard & outdoor furniture showed a noticeable lack of maintenance, & the online photos presented the property more favorably than it appeared in person.Later that evening, while reading in the living room, I realized there were no curtains, blinds, or shades on the living room, kitchen, or bathroom windows. Although the primary bathroom had tinted film on the window, it seemed it was still possible to see inside from outside. Curious, I walked around the exterior to check, & my concerns were confirmed outside. I also discovered that nearly every window in the home was unlocked. My grandsons & I went around the house &secured all of them ourselves. The front porch light also did not appear to be working that first evening. I’m sure nothing would have happened, but between the lack of window coverings, the unlocked windows, & the nonfunctioning porch light, Alexa on & active we did not feel comfortable staying overnight. We chose to book a hotel in Traverse City for the remainder of our trip. Since the home had already been paid for, we returned only during the daytime to use the kayaks. Other than one shower, we didn’t use the house. While the home itself was clean & spacious, we did not feel comfortable there. Check actual lake access across the street prior… it is not private access.

Thank you for your feedback and for noting that our home was clean and spacious upon your arrival. We are sincerely sorry that your trip coincided with severe wildfire smoke advisories, which unfortunately created hazardous air quality and impacted the outdoor environment that weekend. We would like to gently clarify a few details regarding our property: our listing features exclusive private subdivision beach access reserved for our immediate neighborhood, and our main living areas intentionally omit window coverings—as depicted in our listing photos—to maximize sweeping views of Torch Lake, though we are actively enhancing privacy options for the bathroom window. Additionally, our grounds receive weekly professional landscaping, the front porch light operates via a manual switch right beside the entry door, and our security setup strictly contains zero indoor cameras. We truly wish you had reached out to us during your stay so we could have addressed your concerns and reassured you in real time, and we wish you and your family the very best in your future travels.

5 Stars – Perfect Family Getaway at Torch Lake!

We had a truly wonderful stay at this beautiful home on Torch Lake! Everything was incredibly clean, which made us feel right at home. The house was spacious and comfortable for our family of seven (my husband and I plus our five kids), and we had everything we needed for a relaxing and fun-filled stay. The location is absolutely ideal – just a short walk to the lake, which made it easy to enjoy swimming, paddleboarding, and soaking up the incredible views. We rented a pontoon boat for several days and had the best time exploring the crystal-clear waters of Torch Lake – it’s truly one of the most beautiful lakes we’ve ever seen.On top of that, the home is in a perfect spot close to local restaurants, a hardware store, and a convenient store – all just a quick walk or bike ride away. It made grabbing a bite to eat or picking up essentials super easy throughout the tripCommunication with the owners was smooth and easy – they were always responsive and helpful, which made the entire experience stress-free.Overall, this was one of our favorite family trips and we would highly recommend this property to anyone looking for a clean, well-located, and family-friendly place to stay on Torch Lake. We’re already talking about coming back!
