This wonderful Gulf-front rental has a commanding view of the mesmerizing Gulf of Mexico. The living room will provide you access to this wonderful private balcony. You will enjoy sitting on the balcony which is furnished with chairs and a table for your comfort and enjoyment.

The floor-to-ceiling patio doors enhance your view of the Gulf of Mexico. The kitchen comes equipped with all the comforts of home, including a full-size refrigerator, cooktop stove and oven, microwave, and dishwasher. All the utensils needed to prepare and serve meals are supplied for your convenience. If you elect to not eat in then there are many wonderful restaurants located nearby as well as shopping available in Fort Walton Beach and Destin, Florida. This unit has 2 TVs, 2 DVD players, and a CD stereo system located in the living room.

Great Spot

The location of the this property is everything!!!! The Gulf was our backyard which is what we wanted! The area was quiet and very relaxing while sitting on the balcony watching the waves! The only issue were the furnishings for the living/dining area. I think they were clean but they show obvious signs of wear and tear as does the carpet. We’d stay here again if only for the view and tranquility that’s offered!!

Extremely need of TLC

Management responded to three things that made it worthwhile to stay. But we couldn’t even enjoy the balcony due to fear of getting fetus from the table and chairs. We did enjoy our stay with amazing views. Bed is very soft and comfy to me. But needs extream need of TLC!!

Pro: great view, nice kitchen amenities, close to restaurants, complimentary chair service w/ booking, big TV, plenty of towels, pool access. Cons: no elevator so pack light, poor bed quality on both king and pull out- very uncomfortable, some blinds torn down and laid behind TV in living room, and rusted patio furniture.

Spacious

This was prob the most spacious one that I've stayed in yet and the view was awesome. Very clean also. Remotes were missing they offered to bring another one but we declined since it wasn't a big deal. No need to make a special trip. I would def recommend this to family/friends but I prob won't use it again as it's on the 3rd floor (no elevator) and I need handicap accessible but it was really quite lovely. The patio set was very comfortable and high so you could see over the balcony.

Great view, but needs a little TLC

After staying at Island Sands 19 years ago, we decided to return for “old times sake.” The views from the condo are wonderful, and the location very convenient. However, our particular condo could stand a little love. There were plugs that wouldn’t work and our ice maker either wasn’t connected or wouldn’t work, and the furniture could use a good cleaning. Five stars to the housekeeping crew would did prepare the condo as best they could. Also, painting the condo inside would freshen up the space quite a bit. All in all, we enjoyed our stay, including the daily stair climbing (we counted this as exercise). And the pool was great!

Very disappointed

We were very disappointed in the condo. The floors & shower were dirty. The mattress was very broke down. My husband & I both ended up in the middle of the bed basically a hole. There was a musty smell and the air was always a damp moist feel. There were 3 white plastic broken chairs on the deck. The tub water facet handles were leaking all over. The couch & chair are stained & dirty. The sliding glass door blinds are torn up & don’t shut properly. Honestly the view of the beach & location was the only good thing.

The property and location at Island Sands is ideal...perfect views of the ocean from the balcony and close proximity to the beach. The only reason we are giving this condo a 4 rating is because of the mattress. It really needs to be replaced. It is noticeable as soon as you arrive at the condo and walk in the room with the bed linens in place. There are 2 sunken places in the foam mattress very obvious as to where folks have slept. Needless to say, we did not rest well while on our vacay. There was a review prior to our booking that referred to this same issue. We sent an email inquiry to property management and was told that our question would be forwarded to the owners for a response. We did not receive a response. We went ahead and booked in hopes that the issue would be resolved before our stay. My profession has been in the foam mattress industry for nearly 40 years, and I strongly suggest that consideration be given to replace this mattress so that future guests can have a perfect stay with a 5 rating. Thank you.

Last minute trip

I traveled with my husband and our 2 kiddos, 11 & 1. Pros: - Unit was clean - Unit's location is WONDERFUL - WONDERFUL VIEW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Cons: - Third floor and NO Elevator access ( 4 flights of stairs) - COMMUNICATION IS TERRIBLE - we got there and the door code they sent me via text did not work. So I checked my email...door code they provided via email was different but also did not work. LUCKILY I was able to text the number that text me and did get a response (We checked in on a Sunday at 4 so the main office was closed). I also had issues within the unit and was unable to get anyone to respond via VRBO. They had some other app they ask you to install and it had conflicting check out times, conflicting reservation numbers so I just uninstalled it. - THE BED WAS TERRIBLE - we were here for a week and trying to sleep was the worst part of the trip. Someone just needs to throw that mattress away - it is that broken down. It sunk in under the weight of my 17 lb one year old so you can imagine what happened when my husband, her and I laid down at night. I managed about 4 hours of sleep each night. IF YOU HAVE A BAD BACK - DO NOT BOOK THIS UNIT. Furniture - The rest of the furniture including the pullout couch looks like it was in it's prime in the 70s and it feels like it to. The chair in the living room was very uncomfortable, the pullout couch was soooo uncomfortable I ended up buying my son an air mattress. It would have been nice to sit in the living room and enjoy the view but there was just no where to get comfortable in this entire unit. This was a last minute booking for us so I was tryjng to remain thankful that we were all together on this beautiful beach but I would never rent this unit again. The actual Island Sands condo, absolutely.....but never this unit unless they replaced every bit of furniture in there. Hope this review helps someone else!

Clean and basic, Dire need of updates

This unit had a fantastic view! It had great access to the beach and beach service. The unit was clean, and everything worked. However, this unit is in DIRE need of updates. The blinds in the living room are only half attached (pieces of them are behind the TV, and in the closet on the floor), and the blinds in the bedroom do a horrible job in keeping the light outside from bleeding into the room. Our first night, I couldn't sleep because the room was so bright. Someone before us left some command strips on the wall, and velcro on the window to cover it up.... plus a metal curtain rod that had sharp and broken hanging on the command strips. We ended up purchasing blackout curtains so that we could sleep in the dark - we left them for the next people, if the cleaning crew doesn't throw them away. The bathroom wallpaper is cracked and peeling off. The fairly new carpet installation is not great, and there are gaps where the tack strip is showing. We had to cover it up so that my 1 year old could walk around without shoes on to avoid needing a tetanus if she stepped on the exposed nails. The kitchen facet is hard to find the "off" position - as fasteners somewhere need to be replaced. If you don't get it just right - it will drip constantly. The bathtub facet hot water leaks when you turn it on. We were afraid that it would spill onto the floor, and cause problems for us and the downstairs neighbor. However, the sinks in both bathrooms are brand new! There are 2 bathrooms with plenty of towels, but only 1 bar of soap. The bed started out ok. It is a really old boxspring with a "newish" king size bed - and a really thick foam topper. The sheets are not "deep" enough to fit around the height, so we had to constantly fight to keep the bed sheets attached. By about the 2nd day (of 6) - we had to sleep with a pillow in the middle of the bed so that we could crawl out of the sunken in mattress. Also, the bed frame is VERY Squeaky, and when you are trying to claw your way out of the bed quietly in the middle of the night - the squeaks end up waking your significant other. While we loved the view, and the general cleanliness, for the total of $280 (after fees and taxes, $450) a night (plus having to purchase curtains and soap for the other bathroom), we don't feel it was nice enough for the money, and unless a lot of updates happen, we will never stay in this unit again.

The view was great!!

The view was great. But the condo is in desperate need of some TLC as far as the furnishings. The mattress was horrible. No support. The entrance door looks terrible. The dead bolt would not lock. The furnace filter was beyond dirty. The microwave - the protective coating on the inside of the door was peeling off. Not sure the microwave was safe to use. The couch is very worn. You sunk down when you sat on it. The chair was very dirty and worn. Sad that a unit with such a beautiful view and such potential isn't kept up better. The other units in this complex seems very well maintained.

Nice view, outdated room

The rental was very outdated
 rusty front door, peeling wallpaper and paint, shaggy brown carpet (in a beach rental?!) and older fixtures. However, it was clean and the bed was comfortable. The view from the balcony was wonderful! Wish the balcony chairs were higher so you could see over the guardrail though. Bring your own coffee if you’re checking in late, there were no “first morning” supplies available. Just enough toilet paper for the time we were there and 2 tiny bars of soap. No laundry detergent supplied either. With this view, this rental could be outstanding with a little remodeling and some amenities.

Older Unit

Unit needs updating. No privacy in living room because shades are in bad shape or missing. Rusted air vents, carpet in living room is coming up and looks nasty. Asked for batteries for tv remote on night one and never got them.

Small but quaint

It is nice for two people or maybe with spouse and 2 small kids. Not for 4 adults. The beach was beautiful and the guys that set up the umbrellas were so nice. You will will need to bring beach towels, they don’t supply them and the kitchen accessories are limited. We did love how very few people we had on the beach because of being a smaller facility. We definitely would stay again.

Million Dollar View

The view of the gulf is breathtaking from this 3rd floor condo. We will definitely stay here again not only for the view but my fiancé' and I have stayed at Island Sands four different times and we love the location and the short walk to the beach. Usually we were on the 1st level which due to the sand dunes you cannot see the gulf, I loved the panoramic view from the 3rd floor, it was beautiful.
