Four acres of property with parking for cars and boat trailers. Inside garage parking for three vehicles or several motorcycles .
Public river access across the road.
NOTE: Private river access requires walking steep downhill trail to shaded area. Travel at your own risk. Very secluded and worth the walk. Path posted No Trespassing....for our guests only.
IMPORTANT FOR FISHING: We recommend the TVA Lake Info app for your phone. You can check daily water release schedule from South Holston Dam (10 miles upriver). Water release will take approx 3 hours to arrive in area in front of rental house. Between water releases, the river can be waded for fishing. We recommend children are always accompanied by an adult when at the river.

Loved our stay here! Wish we were here longer to enjoy coffee on the screened in porch. Casper the local dog made an appearance - super friendly and stayed outside. Perfect amount of room and very comfortable for our family visiting for the Reds/Braves game at Bristol. Host was great in providing local recommendations. Highly recommend!

This was a perfect property to hold our family reunion! Lots of room for the kids to enjoy the outdoors in the afternoons and evenings, and amazingly peaceful for the grandparents in the mornings.The screened porch is marvelous! With the added bonus of the local wildlife of deer and bald eagles (and neighbor's fun loving dog) it made for a week we'll never forget! The hosts gave us recommendations for kids activities and were very helpful and quick to respond to any questions we had.

Stayed over race weekend

This place has EVERYTHING anyone could ask for while visiting the area . Race vacation

We came down for the race to relax and to golf and did all three with comfort, the house is as pictured its quiet awesome veiws, we saw deer every evening had fires overall great experience.

Wonderful Place!

What a great place to be with your family. The house was spacious and very nicely furnished. The host checked in to make sure we had everything we needed. Loved the big kitchen and the views were incredible. Would highly recommend this house for a family getaway!

My husband John and I consider it a privilege to live on the South Holston River, one of the premier fishing rivers in the eastern United States. When the opportunity presented itself to buy another home to share with vacationers, we did not hesitate. It is our hope that everyone staying in our rental will experience the joy of the beautiful river and surrounding Holston Mountain.

South Holston Lake: 10 miles
Bristol Motor Speedway: 3.6 miles
Virginia Creeper Biking Trail: 20 miles
Roan Mountain State Park: 21 miles
Tweetsie walking and biking trail: 14 miles
Lamar Alexander Rocky Fork State Park: 36 miles
Laural Falls trailhead: 14 miles
Appalacian Trail entry points: 30 miles

FISHING INFO:
There are several public access areas in close proximity...one directly across the road from the rental.
We recommend guests download the TN Valley Authority (TVA) app on their smartphone for detailed water release schedules. All water released from the dam takes approximately 3 hours to reach the area in front of the rental house. Fishing is great whether you are wading during low water or fishing from the river side during high water.
TWRA (Tn Wildlife Resources Agency) rules apply to fish and type sizes. TWRA website posts trout stocking release schedules. South Holston River is a natural breeding site for Brown trout and Rainbow trout are added for sport fishing. Tn State marine biologists estimate there are 8,500 trout per mile on the SOHO.
Many guide services are available on-line and several Outfitter shops are located nearby for supplies and fishing recommendations.
Watauga River, located 10 miles away, is also a highly rated trout stream with multiple access points and abundant fish. Numerous articles on-line and in sports publications rate the South Holston and Watauga Rivers as the best east of the Rocky Mountains.
Our guest house is located at the Boyds Island breeding area and is closed from November-January for natural breeding activity. Other months of the year allow abundant, natural Brown trout for your enjoyment.
Consuming fish: South Holston and Watauga Rivers use mountain fed lakes and streams and fish are abundant and safe to eat. Enjoy fresh fish on the grill while relaxing and taking in the views from Riverside Retreat!
