Newly updated rental for 2024! This beautiful beach house is in a prime location – steps from the beach, and close to Bald Head Island Club. It features a reverse floor plan, offering spectacular ocean views from the deck, living, and dining areas on the upper floor. Spacious decks are on both floors.
The kitchen and living area have recently been remodeled and painted. The upper floor deck also includes a 48” stainless steel gas grill that can handle outdoor cooking for the largest of families or groups.
Two master suites, and two other bedrooms all have ocean views and three of them also have direct deck access. One bedroom features two sets of bunk beds, with twin mattresses on top and queen size mattresses on the bottom. The other three bedrooms have king size beds.
Wireless internet access is provided throughout the home. The living area includes a 55" TV and a Sonos sound bar with Bluetooth audio connectivity. TVs are in all bedrooms.
Bikes and beach gear are provided in the spacious ground floor garage and storage area. The house comes with one 6-seat and one 4-seat golf cart.

It's simply an incredible home for your family and friends to unwind, relax, and recharge.

Great location and a wonderfully easy kitchen for 3 cooks to work in!

We had 6 adults, 2 kids and 1 infant staying here. Everyone had plenty of room and the beach was right across the street. Very comfortable, great showers and lots of towels were appreciated. We got a BHI club membership and it was 3 minutes away. Already talking about next year!

Ringing in the New Year with “Shoes Off”!

BHI is one of our favorite places, and “Shoes Off” was a great place to enjoy it from! This house has amazing views from almost every room in the house and its great porches. It’s an easy walk across the street to the beach, close to the BHI Club, and a few minutes to the market. Overall, a great place for our family to ring in the New Year!

Perfect house for a getaway with friends

The three king beds provide a perfect set up for an adult only getaway or to accommodate multiple families. The bunk bed room is also very nice and would be great for kids. The cabinet full of cooking supplies and spices was very useful and appreciated. The views of the ocean are amazing and must be some of the best on the island. This was our first trip to bald head island and the location was convenient to the beach, dining, market, and ferry terminal. If we ever make it back to bald head island, we would certainly stay at Shoes Off again. My only recommendation would be some upgrades to the childrens beach toys for out of towners who aren't able to bring much to the island. Great stay!

Good view, not clean.

The location of this property was great. But the house needs work. The worst part was the dog hair everywhere. We had to rewash the sheets as soon as we got there. This was said to be a pet free rental. It was all over everything. There were holes in the sheet rock in bathrooms where the toliet paper holders were suppose to be and light bulbs out. Not what we expected after spending so much money.

Shoes Off Family Vacation

"Shoes Off" was the nicest weekly rental home that we have ever had the pleasure to enjoy with our family. We had 3 couples all enjoy king size, comfortable, beds, 2 teenagers enjoy their own full beds and two small girls enjoy the 2 "pack and play" beds that are provided. The golf carts, 6 seater and 4 seater, were speedy and went the whole day without an extra charge. They were actually serviced while we were there! The bikes were amazing and the boys loved exploring the island with them. We joined the Bald Head Country Club for the week, which is a big plus not offered by every rental home, and enjoyed the golf course and the pool several days. The food and drinks at the Club were also a nice touch to enjoy while we were there. We WAY over prepared for the week with food that we brought and I would encourage anyone who might be thinking of what to bring to go light on the food. The market on the island has everything you will ever need, with the exception of hard alcohol, and the prices are similar to the mainland. The ladies loved shopping at the many shops that are there for the gifts you will want to keep and bring back to your jealous friends. The Island is amazing to experience. The beaches are not overly crowded, the water wasn't rough, and at the East Beach you can walk out into the Atlantic almost 200 yards on various sand bars which was really cool. Our house host was responsive to all our requests and has done a wonderful job providing all you will need for your best family vacation ever.

Our BHI 2021 Excellent Adventure

So, hiccups happen and there’s not a single one of us who can say we’re perfect. And when I communicated our hiccups with Shoes Off’s property manager, they went to work and didn’t stop until everything was flipped rightside up again. In fact, they managed everything so well I absolutely can say BHI Services just raised the bar wayyy up there, and they did so with ease. That said, this was about my 15th year visiting the island, and there will be many, many more to come. Shoes Off stands out all on its own. The house is lovely and filled to the brim with all the things that make their home your home, inside & out. The views from this house are extraordinary, and this is one of my main goals when looking for my rental each year. And the well-thought out upper level deck space — open, covered, and screened — gives so many comfortable and thoroughly enjoyable options with sturdy Adirondack chairs & footrests and tables to rest your book on while you nap (because thats gonna happen). Oh, and the hammock... fuhget about it! Pure Heaven. Our week brought us plenty of rain, and except for the one or two sideways deluges, sitting outside under the covered decks watching the rain and listening to the ocean and treefrogs made it that much more magical. Yep, we’ll be back. 💗.

Shoes off did not disappoint

A great trip to Bald Head Island. I was worried about getting there with all our stuff but it went off without a hitch. Book your trams in advance! Easy for a family of 6. The property was perfect. Just the right mix of modern and nice but with a laid back “shoes off” coastal vibe. Accommodations were great. The rooms and the living area and the kitchen were all excellent. I would give this property my highest recommendation.

Wanted to love it

This was our second trip to BHI and we were so excited to share it with our families for the first time. Check in was at 4pm. We arrived to the house around 1:30pm to leave our luggage under the house and start exploring like it said we could. The cleaning company was at the house and said it was “disgusting.” We left our things and used the golf carts to explore and grab lunch (which we greatly appreciated). When we returned at 4:15pm, there were approximately 6 people from the cleaning company still cleaning and requested 15 more minutes. We didn’t get in the house until after 4:30pm and then didn’t have any toilet paper which said would be provided so someone from the company had to bring it back. The entire stay you smelled dog urine in the house (particularly the upstairs rug and single chair foot stool). The listing said no pets so we were surprised and frustrated to know a dog had been there. There was dog hair everywhere on the floors and bedroom futon. Dog poop was also everywhere surrounding the yard of the house. It didn’t feel clean for us let alone our baby and toddler. Food had exploded in the microwave and left there, smelling horrible, which we had to clean ourselves. The upstairs bathroom shower door was broken so we couldn’t use that shower during the stay. Otherwise the house was located in a great spot (across the street from beach access) and literally had the most amazing view of the sunset. I hate this was our families’ first experience. We want to come back but will be looking for another home, unfortunately.

Great location and property

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. This property comfortably slept our group of 9. The renovations to the property post Hurricane Florence were nicely done.
