Perfect House

Immaculate, well designed, fully equipped and cosy - this house was perfect in every way. Idyllic location with a view of the river, lots of light, wonderful kitchen, a few minutes walk from the pub, very comfortable bed - we had a wonderful stay.

Beautiful Location

We had a lovely stay in the beautifully appointed and located April Cottage. Although we didn't have the best of weather, the comfort of the tastefully decorated cottage with a well appreciated log burner enabled us to thoroughly enjoy our week in Helford. Thank you Tutte

Wow wow wow wow!!

Gorgeous cottage in a stunning location! So lovely to find a property that delivers on its promises! Owner, Tutte, was helpful, friendly and very easy to liase with. We only booked a 3 night stay and left wishing we'd stayed longer. Our first visit to Cornwall and will most definitely be returning and hopefully too to April cottage!

Pure bliss!

My husband and I spent a week in mid-April in this lovely home. We visited several of the well known historical properties but our favorite part of the visit was relaxing in the home and garden. The owner was superb, the house well equipped, and the beds comfortable. The views into the garden sloping toward the river and the variety of birdsong made it heavenly. The local pub is just a short walk. In short, it was perfect!

Lovely place to stay in a perfect village.

April Cottage is a lovely place - pretty big for a cottage I'd say!The living room and bedrooms are lovely bright spaces and the big comfy sofas are perfect for flopping onto after a day of Cornish air.The bathrooms are spacious, fresh and modern and there is plenty of storage in the bedrooms.The kitchen is well equipped and again llenty of space.The garden terrace is sunny in the morning and early afternoon and there is sun at the end of the garden later on.The view is beautiful.The cottage is close, but not too close, to the pub and shop and a short and pretty walk from the ferry.Helford is a delightful village and the estuary calm enough to enjoy kayaking in and out of the numerous creeks and on to perfect beaches.We are already recommending this place to friends and family.

We had a wonderful stay in this beautiful house over looking Helford Point. It was well situated for the local Shipwrights Arms and the Helford Passage Crossing to the Trebah and Glendurgan Gardens. We found plenty to do over the two weeks stay plenty scenic local walks, boat trips, gardens, art and a friendly local shop for all we needed. The people and service locally were friendly and to a very high standard. There is a short walk or drive to Manaccan’s New Inn where the food and service are excellent. Tutte the owner was very helpful and quick to respond although we never managed to get DVD player to work and there was no Netflix, as EE I believe have stopped supplying this service, but they did try to help resolve any issues. The house inside is very beautifully and tastefully done and practical to use, the only small negative is it would have been nice to have some more comfortable lounges to sit out in the beautiful garden. We would love to return and I would highly recommend a stay in April Cottage it has the perfect setting plenty space to relax and everything you need for convenient peaceful stay.

Another wonderful stay at April Cottage

We returned to April cottage after our first visit there in 2020 during the brief period we were allowed out of lockdown. We’d actually had the holiday booked for about a year beforehand so were lucky to be able to go. It is such a fabulous cottage, in the most peaceful village. We hope To return next year, all being well.

Excellent property

Delightful house, very nicely decorated, spacious and full of light. Very well equipped. Comfortable. Nice views of the Helford River. Great local shop and pub. We enjoyed staying in the house. coastal walks and exploring further afield. The cottage exceeded our expectations and we would happily return in the future.

Beautiful area and house

We loved the area and the house was very pretty. We had a big van so access was a challenge specially the first night when we got lost with Google maps! Overall the property was really cosy and as shown in the pictures. The only thing we would suggest is if you have very late arrivals ( like ours) it would have been nice to find some milk/bread/butter, as we had nothing to eat or drink when we arrived. We have rented many times in many destinations and there has always been a small welcome basket. Just a suggestion. Otherwise we really loved the area and the house and we will definitely come back! Excellent week spent at April Cottage in Helford

We spent a lovely week in Helford. The cottage was beautifully and very tastefully decorated and furnished. The beds extremely comfortable, the kitchen and sitting room very spacious and inviting. The mature garden was the icing on on the cake, with views of the estuaries. As the weather was amazing, we spent a lot of time in the garden, having most of our meals outside. The staff at the Shipwright Inn were very friendly and the tiered seating area offered lovely views of the estuary. Also great walks to be had all around. I would highly recommend.

R&R-tastic

A great location which is incredibly peaceful with a view of the sea, April Cottage is exactly as the pictures show and within minutes’ walk of the beach, coastal path, local ferry, pub and local shop as well as a 30min drive from all points of interest on the Lizard peninsula. The house itself was comfortable, warm and well equipped for a family of six for an Easter break when the evenings were chilly. The garden (complete with local rabbits!) was fun for the kids to explore and a restful view from the house. The lanes are narrow and the approach and parking to the house very tight but we navigated it fine with a van (VW Caravelle-sized) and there is very little if any other traffic. We came back feeling very well rested!

April Cottage, Helford

April Cottage cottage has a lovely atmosphere. It is light, airy and furnished to a very high standard. I can't really find fault with the cottage at all. It has river views and has a lovely position in the village of Helford, with a local shop and pub close by. We had a very enjoyable stay. Tutte is an excellent host, very responsive in all our communication.

Beautiful house and garden

Lovely house in a idyllic, peaceful setting. The house was well presented and spacious and it had everything we needed for a family of 6. The garden was wonderful with lovely views from every angle. Helford is simply gorgeous with a great local shop and pub within 2 minutes walk. It really is a place to get away from it all. Parking was ample, even with an SUV, however driving through Helford with a large vehicle is only for the brave at heart!

Lovely house in a beautiful location

The house is very comfortable and beautifully decorated; adults and teenagers alike loved it. A short walk to the beach, ferry, pub and shop - everything we hoped for. The garden was a delightful place to sit and watch the boats on the water below.

Perfect location in a gem of a place

Beautiful cottage on the unspoilt Helford river. Great walks from the doorstep, no need to use the car all week. But if you feel energetic a perfect start point for exploring the Lizard.

October 2020 at April Cottage

We have just had an Autumn break at April cottage. It is a very well appointed house in an unspoilt village and has been renovated with great taste. Views across the estuary from most rooms are beautiful. All of West Cornwall was easily accessible an we had some wonderful walks in the area.

Just what was needed

I’m reluctant to write a review because this property and the village are hidden gems that we’d like to keep to ourselves. It was just fantastic, the house and gardens are beautiful and the location is amazing with views over the river. I know how lucky we were to be able to get away to somewhere so tranquil, it was the perfect restorative break and felt much longer than the week we were there. As a separate point, the additional measures introduced for COVID were non-invasive and did. It impact on our enjoyment. Thank you for having us!
