Beautiful kitchen that is nicely stocked! Guests just should be aware before renting the stove is induction. The pots provided work, but if you are bringing your own special pot be aware!! The view from the main living area and porch are worth every penny of the stay! View from the dock is just as amazing. We enjoyed the top area of the dock which seems to be a new addition!

Amazing home for a large group!

We had an amazing stay at this property for our summer vacation. It’s nice to find a home that is updated and clean in this neighborhood! The upstairs are with the kitchen, dining room, and tv are leading out to the porch was the best place to hang out with everyone. This view of the mountain and waterfront is one of the best on the lake! Definitely returning here! We really enjoyed our time on the dock and the access to the paddle board, kayaks, and canoe was really nice. We rented a boat and had plenty of space to tie it to the dock. We look forward to returning!

Great location; nice house for large group; needs spring cleaning; kitchen needs updating/labeled

We enjoyed our stay but it was pricey considering the need for thorough cleaning and Kitchen appliances need to be replaced. Electric skillet, Keurig coffee maker, stove did not work, drawers need to be organized.

Hi Janet! Thank you for your feedback. I’m sorry that you trashed our home and it was left in unacceptable condition. The brand new skillet and k cup coffee maker worked at check out! The stove is induction and requires only stainless steel pots and pans that we provide or if you bring any, that is the type needed. Thank you for staying with us!

Weekend Getaway

Beautiful location, kitchen & views were amazing. The dock was great for the boat we rented. We spent almost the entire time on the dock fishing or jumping, or floating on the rafts provided. The paddle boards & canoes were awesome!

We were in the area for a graduation and had several generations of family staying. Everyone had a wonderful time, better than even expected. Would love to come again for sure.

A wonderful getaway in a beautiful home right on the lake

An incredible home which will accommodate a lot of people. We only had 6 people but all the kids had their own room and loved it. everything you could ask for and incredible location on the lake. We hope to go back again before the summer is over

Best vacation experience at Best Dam View!

We only rent Wind family properties at SML as they give their guests effortless luxury when vacationing. Love this house and appreciate the communication and responsiveness from Ashley. Will definitely rent again at this fabulous Smith Mountain Lake property.

Beautiful new home

We had an amazing fall getaway to Smith Mountain Lake. The home fulfilled all of our needs and the views were break taking! Our favorite part of the stay was sitting in the porch outside the kitchen. We will definitely be keeping this in mind for next year!

Wonderful time at the lake

We had three generations at the house and everyone had a wonderful time! The house is beautiful and had everything we needed for our stay -the comfortable beds, super nice kitchen, and expansive decks were the highlights. The hosts were helpful and responsive. The best part though is the incredible view of the lake and the dam! We can’t wait to go back!!

Nice cozy home

Perfect for us! Open floor plan upstairs that opened to a large deck. The views really can’t be beat. Perfect view for Smith Mountain and the dam. Just like all the pictures. We loved that this was such an updated clean lake house. We really love l this neighborhood on this side of the lake and look forward to returning to this one! Thanks for the hospitality!

Definitely best view on Smith Mountain Lake

Beautiful, newly renovated home with definitely the best view on Smith Mountain Lake! The close up view of the dam and mountain is breathtaking. The location of being tucked in the little cove helps with the boat traffic in that area. Really a great location to be in and still have that amazing view. Property seemed very clean and well kept. check in process was seamless and Ashley was easy to get in touch with along with answering all the questions we had prior to arrival. Definitely a return spot!

SML First Timer

The lake experience was fantastic! The house location, activities and water sport equipment were excellent. The house had some minor issues i.e. ceiling fans not working/broke, plumbing and cleanliness. However, these issues didn’t affect our great vacation at SML.

Our family’s lake week

We loved the location on the lake and really enjoyed the decks and the dock area. Lots of water toys that were fun. The house layout worked well for us. We needed a few kitchen items that weren’t there. The house felt a bit tired…loose door knobs, window blinds, outdated master bath, leaking shower in second main floor bathroom and had some struggles with main floor tv. Still the house worked for us. Nice big kitchen with lots of storage.

Beautiful Home

I will start by saying I would absolutely stay here again. Amazing views and a perfect home for a family gathering. I do have a few areas where we were concerned. They should tell us in advance that no shampoo or body wash is available. They should make the beds before we arrive. We all realized after a fun night that when we were going to bed, all the sheets were on the bed and we had to make them. Overall cleanliness was sub par. Felt like no one had been in the house for a few weeks and there were spider webs everywhere. Many light bulbs were out on the bathrooms.

Hi Matt! Thank you for staying with us! As reported on the listing we do not provide personal items for showering. We do have hand soap in the bathrooms. We do have the linen service provided bed linens, but the beds that you use will need to be made. We really want our cleaning staff to thoroughly clean the home and have clean bed linens ready in the rooms that will be used! We do provide light bulbs in the closet and regularly get them switched out during cleaning service. We do have many rentals all through the year at BEST DAM VIEW! Thank you for staying with us!

Incredible location

My family and I went with 2 other families just for the weekend. Ages of kids ranged from 3-12 years of age. The house had plenty of rooms to accommodate us all. Beds were comfortable. The deck and dock were the highlight. There are kayaks, canoes and a paddle board. It’s a two story dock and the views are awesome. Mitchell marina is around the corner which makes it easy to rent boats. We rented a pontoon. We will definitely stay here again. Make sure you bring your own soap, trash bags, paper towels and toilet paper. None is provided.

The view is beautiful and the host provided a paddle board, 2 kayaks and a canoe that allowed us to enjoy the lake very much. However the communication with the host was very difficult. I had send her a message to ask about life jackets 3 weeks prior to our check in and did not get a response until reached out to VRBO the day before our arrival and was told that we need them for heavy adults and kids. Once arrived at the property, we could not find the life jackets and after multiple attempts to reach the host ,was told that we might be able to find 1 in the basement. The access to the dock does not have any railing at the end and if you have members in your party who have problems with their joints and walking they will not be able to go down the dock. Their upper level deck has an uneven surface that increase the risk of falls. Although bathrooms and floors and bedroom were clean but there were spider webs on the corners as well as a half fallen vent cover . Over all the location of the property compensated for most of its falls but I wish the host would be more responsive and attentive to the details.

Great family reunion loc

Loved the fabulous decks the overlooks the lake Lots of chairs to sit on and enjoy the view. Dock was good with paddle board, kayaks, and canoe. 4 adult life jackets available for use. Inside: Lots of room for family to spread out. We loved the huge dining room table and chairs with backs on them to enjoy the food and the view. Kitchen was well stocked with cooking bowls, pots, and gadgets and all appliances worked well. Having several living areas, game room, sunroom and extra table for puzzles and games allowed everyone to have enough room for various activities. Beds were comfy and bathrooms were clean. Just a few additional details: Driveway is steep. If you have mobility issues, the driveway may be difficult to walk up to the street. There is room for 4 cars to park at the bottom of the driveway- next to the house. Also, Trash pickup service was not available We had to take our trash to the dump which was 10 minutes (one way) from the house. Also, I had to spend the first hour after arrival removing the leaves from the walkways, stairs and decks to prevent guests from slipping on the leaves. It was disappointing that the rental agency hadn’t done this prior to our arrival. It gave a poor first impression. Overall the house is a fantastic rental and all of our family members were very happy with our week on the lake. I highly recommend this property for any family reunion
