Thanks for your review. We did not list an elevator in the add and it does state apartment three. The stairs are normal dimensions for each floor. We are very sorry to hear that was an issue for you. We are glad you enjoyed the apartment and location and hope to see you in the future. We do have a larger 2 bedroom available on floor two (Apartment 2) for future reference.

We are very sorry you had issues during your stay. Unless we are notified, some issues are harder to catch during regular cleaning+maintenance times. We did see that someone put a sticky command hook next to the shower after the cleaning staff was there for your stay. That was not hung by us. The back door in that unit leads to the laundry room in the basement, there is an outside door to the building which is always locked. Though that door is normally locked I can understand how the cleaning staff may have forgot to lock it. We will look into the water pressure and shower handles not functioning properly. Thanks for bringing it to our attention. For future stays, please let the owners know you are having issues asap so they can address them. Thank you

Thanks for your input Jesse. We take great pride in the condition of our spaces, and the customer service we offer our all tenants, including you. We have carefully evaluated your feedback to see if there are any opportunities we can use to improve. In our initial interactions, we were flexible and accommodated several date changes you made prior to your arrival. We worked with you to waive added change fees. We were highly responsive to your needs both before and during your stay, so we are deeply disappointed you chose to leave a negative review, which we feel is undeserved. Although it is inconsistent with our other reviews, we feel compelled to address each of your concerns. Future renters deserve to hear the truth. Temperature: When you told us the temp was in the mid-70s, we responded in less than an hour; we changed the thermostat to 70 degrees. We gave you the building manager’s number, in case you needed help with anything else. He was staying next door as you were notified. We did not hear from you until 2 days later when you texted to demand a full refund. Your rational was that you claimed the temperature was in the mid-60s. We reminded you that you had a space heater and fan (also listed on the website) available to help you regulate the temperature to your comfort level. In spite of this, you chose to leave the property. We were a bit mystified by your claim of being chilly. When we entered the space a few minutes later (with a witness), we captured a photo that showed a temperature of 69 degrees. Later that day, you reiterated that you were leaving, and wanted a full refund. VRBO confirmed that you had checked out. After telling us (twice) that you were leaving, having VRBO confirm that you had checked out, and seeing that all your belongings were gone, we changed the lock. This is our standard safety procedure that follows a check-out. Later that night, we were surprised to get a text saying you’d changed your mind. You now wanted to stay, but couldn’t get in. The property manager was next door, so I told you to contact him; he could help you right away. I also recommended that you call VRBO to update them on your status. ( VRBO did not give us a status update for your stay.) The manager unlocked the door immediately, for you to get back in (after you’d already checked out). Security There is a lock on a stairwell door, AND a lock on each apartment door. Although we confirmed that the other tenant forgot to lock the stairwell door, both individual apartments were still locked. There was never any breach in security. Your safety was never compromised, you expect your room to be locked, but not the hallway. Your refund demand You demanded full compensation for your $89/night stay, the cleaning fees, taxes and VRBO platform fees. Rationale: fluctuating temperatures. Each time we entered the space during your stay (or shortly after your first check-out), the temperature was 69 degrees. We have photographic documentation of this. The property manager personally stayed in the apartment the weekend before your arrival, to make sure everything was in working order. He did not experience any temperature issues. During the last 4 years of renting this apartment, none of the tenants reported any issues with the thermostat. Based on our observations, the manager’s on-site stay, and feedback from all the previous renters, there was no evidence that supported your claim of temperature fluctuation. We could not validate your claim, so did not issue a refund even though you threatened to leave a bad review if you didn’t get your way. Jesse – we wish you the best, and hope your future VRBO experiences meet your expectations. We also hope that potential tenants consider our other ratings are a more accurate representation of what they can expect when staying with us.Thanks for your input Jesse.
