We love the unit and really enjoyed our stay but the hot water starts out brownish for the entire week, and it would have been nice to have a water dispenser otherwise the unit was great.

Steps to Vacation Bliss

I titled this "Steps to Vacation Bliss" for two main reasons. This property is on the first floor and the porch is about 10 steps from the pool area and the Stanza Mare complex is just steps from the beach. This property location also had a grill on the porch which was great! I personally like making meals and the kitchen was well equipped. Once again...steps to some local restaurants, stores, and the hurricane beach bar. Try their mojitos!

Location

Great location right on beach close to everything. Ground floor unit steps to pool with lots of chairs at pool and beach. Check in a bit difficult as regular guy was away so we had Spanish only speaker greet us which made it a bit challenging but we managed. Apartment could use updating especially fridge. Lots of boats parked out front of this location - not sure why - wife didn't like this I was neutral. Unfortunately lots of seaweed which is out of everyone's control.

Anlage war sauber, gut gepflegt, Note: Ausgezeichnet! Leider waren leidige Reparaturen an der Klimaanlage notwendig, man fühlte sich ein wenig gestört.

Bad timing for pool shut down for renovation

Great apartment 10 steps from the pool. Walkable distance to restaurant, ATM, grocery. Bed was confortable. Beach was beautiful except seaweed always present even if manually cleaned every day. The ventilator on the terrace needs to be changed before it falls down.

Nice condo and property - but some hiccups

Our 1 bedroom appartment was nice, well furnished, clean. Besides the fact that the mattress and pillows need replacement, everything about the apartment was great. We loved the large balcony facing the pool. The property is very well located and the beach facing the property is nice and large . On the bad side, not impressed by the Dominicans working on the property, especially landscape gardeners & people working at the "bar/restaurant" under the hut. They simply never smile and do not want (or able ?) to speak english, kind of weird for a vacation place. If I was an owner I would suggest that the bar/restaurant would be a lot more attractive, a little alive or vibrant. This would make it probably more profitable as well. Nice spot on the property but dull. The pool is very nice and clean. We have seen many people getting warnings because they simply wanted to swin quietly in the pool not even late in the evening, not very cool ! As well, signs on the property say "no pets", our neighbors had small dogs that were yapping for hours every evening. Finally we did not get so much service with the "condo manager". He picked us up at the airport and made a stop at the grocery, fine, even if he seems impatient, but then no communications at all. We couldn't open the safe as we were given the wrong key ! After a few days, when the right safe key was left on our condo counter, we never knew it was changed because the new look-alike key was left at the same place on the counter with no word, no memo, no text-message, nothing. We simply thought they never came to change it, then no safe for the most of our stay. Ok, it is a safe place but still ! No hints or offers on nothing (restaurants, excursions, etc). I had to contact him 3-4 times the day before our departure to get some kind of a reply and our money back for the condo deposit/guarantee. He was always relaying us to his wife...who we didn't know at all. We only knew who she was the last day of our stay, in fact it was in the last 15 minutes of our stay, kind of stressfull as we had to leave right away to the airport. In brief, nice condo, nice property and location, but everything around could have been better.

Tucked away in a corner of a busy area is this nice first floor condo. Walk out the back deck and in 20 steps you are in the pool. 50 steps your are on the beach where Chairs and thatched shade is provided. restaurant are within walking distance. Check in/out with no problem

Pool and beach are steps away and the private beach is very relaxing. Lots of activities and restaurants within walking distance. Place looks like photos and was very comfortable. The only issue we ran into was that cell service and wifi was spotty in the condo, but around the pool and beach it was fine.

BEWARE: If you come here you may not want to go home

Stanza Mare is a perfect location with shopping and restaurants within walking distance. The place is clean and secure. The beach is nothing short of fantastic.The unit was well equipped and makes you feel at home. We loved the kitchen was stocked with everything you need including the gas BBQ on the balcony. The unit is most convenient. You walk off the balcony and you are by the pool. You walk out the front door and you are literally steps from the beach. The manager Yves was honest and hospitable. Would highly recommend going with him on a personalized excursion. Can't wait to go back. Joe C

Very nice unit great pool just off our porch very secure and clean

We loved our stay weather was excellent. The unit was very well appointed with nice furniture and every thing we needed for the kitchen. Great unit for 2 people. Very clean in the unit and on the grounds. Beautiful pool and was not very busy. The private beach and ocean were only a few steps away. Great to have the security on the beach at the front gate and in the complex. Staff helpful and friendly with limited English. A few restaurants close by and within walking distance. Also a grocery store and pharmacy. Lots of construction going on in and near our condo. Streets and area could be cleaner but it was safe any time of the day. Yves our property manager was great. He picked us up at the airport and was helpful. We went with him on a trip to Saona Island which was a beautiful beach.

Wonderful location for relaxing

First off, Yves is wonderful! He explains everything in detail and is always available if you have any questions or need any help. I was even able to arrange a ride to the airport (at 4am) with very short notice after my arranged transport fell through. He offers pick up and return to the airport for a very reasonable fee (less than taxi and more trustworthy). He also offers excursions, although I did not take any on this trip. The place is great for 2 people. Furnished well and clean. A/C works good. My favorite part was the location!! Directly across from the pool, it's easy to run in for a snack or drink or whatever. A couple days, I actually had the entire pool area to myself while I was out under the nice umbrellas on a comfy lounge chair. A quick walk to the beach was just as good. That area of the beach was basically empty, with nice shady palapas and comfy lounge chairs as well. A beautiful beach and the dock there made for some interesting time spent watching the boats coming and going for excursions and such. Kitchen is well stocked. Bottled water is provided. I was a little surprised to find that I had to pay some for the electricity. I did not see that in the description. I am pretty frugal with my energy expenditures, so it wasn't much for me, but if you want to run the a/c constantly, it could add up. The little snack bar near the pool is a little expensive and you might be better off to stock your fridge with drinks and if you don't want to cook, there are a few places within walking distance that are a much better deal. Kat's Corner was good and inexpensive too. If you want non-local alcoholic bevs, buy at the airport duty free shop. Overall, a great place if you just want to relax by the pool and beach. The Wi-Fi is a little sketchy and slow, so if you absolutely need Wi-Fi, you might want to provide your own somehow. I would definitely recommend and return if I go to Punta Cana again!

Great Stay

I will echo previous reviews. Steve the owner, and Ives the property manager were nice to work with. Ives does an incredible job and I would HIGHLY recommend one of Ives excursions, we had a lot of fun and he goes out of his way to make sure that everything goes well. The real Dominican Republic outing was our favorite. Be sure to take something to handout to the children at a school and bring water shoes ( for walking on stones in water) for the outing as well.

The most helpful property manager

Stayed at the comfortable condo for a week. Everything was as advertised nothing to fancy but met our needs. It was clean and convenient to restaurants, and shopping. The only issue we had was the air conditioning in the bedroom was not cooling. Yves did everything to have the repair person fix it twice but at least the A/C in the living room worked fine. The beach was almost out the back door and the pool was steps away. We enjoyed being able to walk in and out to the pool without going all the way around the building to enter through the front door. This is a plus of being on the ground floor. The pool was wonderful and uncrowded. Basically it was the size of an Olympic size pool! Loved swimming my laps in the morning. The staff was friendly and always available. We always felt safe with the security guards on the beach and at the front gate. The best part of the stay was working with Yves! He picked us up at the airport, took us to the big grocery store and helped us with some basic information. We did an excursion with him and he was punctual, polite and so helpful. He even made a wonder DVD of our day excursion with the photos he took. I am a PE teacher at a Montessori school and Yves son attends a Montessori school in town and Yves took me to the school to meet his son and visit the classroom. What a great experience! Steve the owner was easy to work with and responsive to questions. We would stay here again should we return to the DR. A special thanks to Yves for making out trip memorable and easy. We are even friends on facebook now:)

Great Place

We stayed at the Stanza Mare for a week in March. It was one of our most fabulous vacations. Steve the owner, and Ives the property manager were easy to work with. Ives does an incredible job in making your stay great. I would highly recommend one of Ives excursions, we had a lot of fun and he goes out of his way to make sure that everything goes well. The condo was just as it looks in the pictures, nothing fancy but very comfortable. We enjoyed the beautiful beach and pool. Everything was clean and you can walk for miles and never find the end of the beach. We felt very safe there, they have security 24 hours a day. We especially liked the security guard named Junior. He worked during the day, he didn't speak English, but we both did our best to communicate. He even came to say goodbye to us on the day we had to leave. We found many good restaurants around the area. Our favorites were Balicana (Asian), Pastrata, DeAngelos Pizzeria, Nam, Nams-they had the best hamburgers. We went to Gary's sports Bar to watch the NCAA basketball games, and the bakery had the most delicious crossiants. We felt very safe there and did a lot of walking, but we also took the local bus to the grocery store one day it cost us around 60 cents. We had a wonderful time and can not wait to go back. It is also good to keep in mind that you are on island time when you are here, so relax and have fun!

My husband and I were very happy with our Stanza Mare condo where we stayed for the entire month of February 2015. The comments from previous reviews are true. The condo is clean and comfortable and is equipped with everything you need to make your stay pleasant. We loved the pool which was just a few feet away from our nice little patio and the beach is great although it still had seaweed problems mentioned in a previous review, which, we were told, is unusual and due to bad weather. The owner is eager to please his tenants and fix any problem you may have in record time. His manager, Yves, (and his wife Jamie) both are very reliable and readily available and helped us find our way in our new neighborhood, solved our problems at times and contributed a great deal in making our trip memorable. We greatly recommend Yves’ day trip to visit and learn how the locals live. Although, there are many grocery stores nearby, once a week we took the local bus to San Juan Supermarket and in other surrounding little towns and really enjoyed mixing with the friendly Dominicans. At first we were very insecure but with time we lost all fears and felt at home among them. If we decide to go to Dominican Republic, we would gladly stay again at Stanza Mare.

Best value in Bavaro!

Stayed here the last week of January, 2015. Steve (the owner) and Yves (the local property manager) are very responsive and great to work with. The unit was exactly as advertised and we couldn't be happier with our rental. Plenty of pots, pans and dishes if you wish to prepare your own meals, or many affordable restaurants within easy walking distance of Stanza Mare. The powder white-sand beach is gorgeous and goes on for miles for those wanting to take a long stroll on the beach. If you are looking to stay somewhere that is not all-inclusive than look no further than Stanza Mare! The only negative comment I have was regarding the problem of seaweed washing up on the beach (2 feet deep in some areas). The locals say seaweed is not normal, but it unfortunately affected most of the resorts along the Bavaro coast during our stay. Anyone planning a trip to the Dominican should do some research before booking a property to ensure that seaweed is no longer an issue.
