Perfect!

This was the first time my husband I have not stayed at a Resort. It was just perfect and relaxing. My parents really loved it as well. They loved watching the birds. (mom has never been to Hawaii) Just a just short distance to the beach and shopping (for the able bodied) We enjoyed it very much. Very nice to have all the comforts of home like washer/dryer, and able to cook when you want and the BBQ's by the pool were wonderful to. We hope to come back soon

Large unit that needs attention

This is a very large unit with awesome space in the two bedrooms with what appears to be newly remodeled bathrooms and bedrooms. PROS: Spacious place, well stocked kitchen, large lanai off master bedroom and main living room with big windows spanning the length of the big room, great view of pool, golf course and ocean, great location close to (walking distance) beaches, restaurants and shopping, deck box has some beach chairs, floaties, some snorkel equipment, nice, clean updated bathrooms, comfortable beds in guest and master bedroom, nice new refrigerator. CONS: The sleeper sofas were not comfortable at all, sleeping on a large slant with very squeaky springs and very difficult to fold up once unfolded, old blankets that smelled and not enough bedding for sofa sleepers, dryer did not dry clothes/towels, could not cut anything with the dull knives (could hardly cut up the delicious pineapples we bought), large floor leak in the master bedroom that continued to seep water daily from under the flooring that smelled stinky our entire stay. We had to keep putting towels down on the floor by the bed to sop up the water, but worst of all, the bugs…large dead roaches and other various bugs under the couches in the living room and a few live roaches greeted me one morning on my way into the kitchen, mouse droppings noted in kitchen. Leah (unit management) was very quick and receptive to our needs for more towels to deal with the leaky floor and getting us fresh blankets and bedding for the sofa sleepers. She apologized for the bugs and had a cleaning crew come the next day to sweep. She also reported that they knew about the leaky floor in the master bedroom but did not realize how bad it was. She had a construction crew scheduled to repair the leak AFTER our week in the unit. We would have liked to have been made aware of this problem, as it was very smelly and made us feel like the whole place was in disrepair with the bugs, the leaky floor and the smell in the unit. We continued to communicate with Leah throughout our week in Maui in regards to the dryer not working and mouse droppings we found in the kitchen. We did get our cleaning fee returned to us due to the condition of the unit and since we had to vacuum and sweep when we arrived very late on New Year’s Eve after a long day of travel. Overall, this unit needs some major attention. We will not return to this unit.

Thank you for the positive feedback, I’d like to make a small correction -there is no ocean view. To address the CONS: We just replaced the spring sofa bed mattresses with brand new 5inch memory foam mattresses, so they should no longer be uncomfortable or squeaky. We weren’t aware of the dull knives until this review, but those will easily be replaced ASAP. As for the main issue of the leak in the master bedroom and bugs, it is always unfortunate when things out of the ordinary (like a broken pipe) occur. It’s always infinitely more unfortunate when it happens during a holiday vacation. We were alerted to the leak just before Christmas and the resort informed us access to the pipes required extensive construction, including tearing out the tile and replacing all the flooring in the master bedroom, which would leave the master bedroom entirely unusable for the duration of the project. At the time, they didn’t consider it to be deemed an "emergency repair." Faced with two options, cancel Sarah’s New Years stay last minute or proceed with her reservation as planned and make the necessary repairs after her stay, we thought it less inconvenient for Sarah to go with the latter. In hindsight, we should have communicated better about the situation at hand. Once the construction began, it became clear we should have canceled her stay and remedied the issue right away, as the leak was worse than the resort initially thought. There is no way to know how long the leak had been occurring under the floor prior to it coming to the surface. In full transparency, the damp conditions from the leak created the perfect habitat for pests to breed (hence all the bugs Sarah was encountering). Since Sarah’s stay, the pipe has been replaced, the flooring is all brand new and the entire unit has been treated by a professional pest company to deal with the situation that occurred. Additionally, the resort always performs a routine quarterly spray of all the rooms and grounds in an attempt to prevent any pest issues before they occur. The mouse droppings spotted turned out to be gecko (lizard) droppings, which can be a common occurrence here in the islands. Some consider them a welcome guest as they eat mosquitos and other bugs. While I completely understand Sarah not wanting to stay in this unit again, I’m hopeful future guests won’t run into the same negatives that Sarah encountered.

Great Location

The property is nicely situated close to Whalers Village and other little strip mall and driving short distance to Lahaina. The unit itself needs updating and it feels worn out and could use renovating. The owner was very nice to deal with and mostly prompt in answering me with questions. There were outdoors items but not in good shape or taken care of we had to rent our own chairs and umbrellas. Overall a great place to cook hang out and enjoy your vacation.

Great Location that Missed the Mark

Great location! However we didn’t know we had to compromise on one safety issue and sanitary conditions. Tiles in the guest shower are not secured, tripping issues. Also, we woke up every day to dead roaches. Securing the toilet paper roll parallel to the base of the toilet is not ideal for young boys. It definitely felt like a rental that is being piece mealed.

We had a wonderful stay at Kaanapali Royal. The place is perfectly stocked and anything you may need is easily accessible at Whalers Village. Relaxing on the lanai was a perfect way to end each day. We'll be back!

Good space for 8 adults!

It was a good space for 8 adults! Both bathrooms are located inside the rooms so if you are one of the sofa bed sleepers, gotta be mindful if you have to use the restroom in the middle of the night. Parking (resort fee i think it’s listed as?) is $20/day per car that is paid to the resort front desk when you arrive. They take your license plate number to give to security. Parking itself was not a problem - lots of spaces! There was always a spot for us next to the unit. The curbs say what building it corresponds to so look for the G on the curb :) Property manager Leah was very responsive and always answered my questions in a timely manner!

Wonderful property

Great location! 5 minute walk to beach and shorter in evenings when you can cut across golf course to go to Whaler's Village and restaurants. Pool just steps away. Shaded Lanai so its not too hot. Condo is very spacious and clean, well equipped with everything you need to feel at home. Looking forward to another stay here! Property manager was very helpful and easy to reach.

Air conditioning ducts!

Overall was satisfied with condo. The air conditioning vents are very dirty, along with the walls around them. The duct work should be cleaned. Took pictures if u would like to see. The teflon pans should be discarded they are VERY scratched up. Need shelves in refrigerator freezer.

There were some perks to having the unit empty due to travel restrictions/covid scenario and that is we were able to put a lot of love back into the condo, including cleaning and encapsulating the air conditioning ducts, replacing the kitchen pans (as well as knives, cutting boards ect.) We also have a brand new fridge/freezer on order that should be here shortly! Hopefully your next trip back to the islands you will feel more comfortable in the unit. Stay well! Mahalo, Leah

Best Family Trip!

We had the best time staying at Leah, Fred and Luba's condo in Kaanapali. My husband and I traveled to Maui with our 2 daughters (3 and 22 months). This condo was perfect for us. So much space and the 1st floor location was great. Pool was right outside the lanai and Whalers Village was just a short walk away. One heads up - the walk to Whalers is super easy because its downhill. which means the walk back is uphill! Both of the bedrooms had bathrooms and the smaller room was still big enough for us to put both the girl's cribs in it and they weren't able to see eachother. Condo was clean when we arrived along with clean linens in the closet. There are 3 steps down from the kitchen to the living room, but my daughters had no problem with these and were used to them by the second day. My husband's favorite part of the condo was the painting hanging in the dining area that Luba painted! We hope to return to Maui soon and would definitely stay here again

I wouldn't go anywhere else

For the location and the price, I wouldn't go anywhere else. We had a great time swimming in the pool at the resort. The pool was the perfect temperature. We used the grill in the common area and that was awesome! I loved that there were boogie boards we could borrow while we were there. It was a beautiful condo and we felt at home. I just wished there was a cookie sheet for some of the things we wanted to cook.

Great get away!

If you are looking for a relaxing get away, this is your place. Clean and spacious. Whalers Village is walking distance if you want shopping and restaurants. If it’s a quiet night you are looking for there is a BBQ area. You can dine inside or on your own lanai. Swim in the near by quiet pool or a short walk down to the beach. Want to go for a jog? There is nice beach front path just a short distance from the facility. Very scenic. You don’t have to leave the Kaanapali area at all. Also, Fred and Luba were wonderful hosts!

Very Nice Condo and Location

The condo was just it was described in the site. Very clean and well stocked with everything you need for the stay. The only unfortunate thing was the air was out for the entire complex but Leah was able to put in 2 portable AC units in each of the bedrooms which we greatly appreciated. Overall, it was a very nice place to stay and right up the hill from Ka’anapali Beach.

Family Vacation

This is a beautiful property, very well decorated, clean, with great kitchen and the lanai was wonderful for eating and socializing outside. Short walk to whalers village and beach area. Nice walking or jogging path around golf course and beach area. We would highly recommend this place to anyone.

We stayed with a 5 year old and a grandmother and found the accommodations well appointed. The condo had plenty of space and a great patio to enjoy the Maui weather. This place also has all the beach accessories ready to go so you can enjoy all there is to see and do here.

Amazing stay, amazing value

Leah, was a gracious host. The unit was clean and had plenty of room for our group. Our favorite part of the unit was the large lanai with a path leading to the pool. Perfect setting for an amazing vacation.

Beautiful spacious condo!

My family and I stayed in unit G101 and it was beautiful, spacious and very homey. We requested a crib for our 2 year old and she really liked it. We had a total of 7 people and we were very comfortable. The pool area is wonderful with BBQ grills and a view of the ocean, very close proximity to Whalers Village which was nice although we never walked there since it was so hot and humid. The only downfall was the A/C went out in the entire building so it was a little hot and muggy in the condo but not unbearable. I would definitely stay in this unit again!

BEST accommodations and space!!!!!

We live on Oahu, so space is at a premium. Traveled to Maui for a family reunion. Me and the wife were in the master, mother-in-law was in the second bedroom. Totally split, and the living area along with the kitchen and dining area are huge. Premium TV service for downtime in the evening. Lanai was awesome with straight walk out to the pool and common areas. Can’t say enough. Don’t second guess and rent. We didn’t use them, but there’s also two couch pullout beds. This place will sleep 8 if needed (check with rules, we’re just stating the space!). Comfortably. Price is totally reasonable and we will rent again! Thanks so much!

Amazing stay in Ka’anapali

G101... couldn’t have asked for a better vacation rental. We were a family of 6 who stayed for 3 nights. It was spacious (2 BR 2 Bath and 2 pullout sofa beds), a living room, and dining room) All cooking and kitchen appliances were available. Dishwasher, washing machine and dryer were in the unit too. It was a 10 minute leisurely walk to the Whaler’s Village and Ka’anapali beach, as long as you cut through the golf course. Right outside the unit’s patio is the pool and jacuzzi of the complex. We had a great time!

Fred and Luba were already longtime owners of vacation rentals in West Maui when they purchased Suite G101 at the Ka'anapali Royal, their only condo located in the heart of Ka'anapali on the golf course.

In addition to the spacious and remodeled interior, the location in Ka'anapali across from Whalers Village provides easy access to the beach and amenities or the resort area with the ability to get away from the crowd. In fact, because most of the Ka'anapali Royal is long term rentals, the pool area is often uncrowded and the resort has a very quite feel.

Fred and Luba will be retiring in 2015. Their daughter Leah, who grew up in the vacation rental industry, will be taking over full time management of their units. She is located on island in case of emergencies.
