I'm sharing a (cheeky) guide to assist you in rating future hosts who like me, rely on 5-Star ratings for their livelihood. *When rating us after your stay, please consider that Vrbo's rating is totally different than the classic hotel star rating system: You should know that Vrbo can close down any listing that drops below an average of 4.3 stars at once. So the least we can say is that the system is rather confusing. To give you a better understanding, we designed the following (cheeky) guide to the rating system: 5-Stars: Perfection does not exist, but we're happy here. 4-Stars: Several issues need to be improved, ASAP. 3-Stars: Major problems that should be fixed immediately. 2-Stars: Close it down at once. 1-Star: Put these hosts into jail. We always strive to give our guests a 5 Star experience. Please let us know any problems you may have during your stay and we will do everything within our power to solve it.

Hello Scott! Thank you for your review and feedback. Since opening Pontiac Oasis 2 years ago, the focus has been on the guest experience. Since inception, every single guest providing feedback has rated their Oasis experience 5-stars. So it was a surprise to receive your review and rating of 3-stars. I have waited a couple of days to respond to your review as I have been trying to figure out where I fell short. All of my guests should have a 5-star experience. In interpreting your review, I have come to the conclusion that there are inconsistencies that don’t make sense. I am proactive in a preventive maintenance program that includes quarterly pest control, regular HVAC maintenance, battery replacement for all of the remotes, light bulb replacement and deep cleaning. I am also following all Vrbo cleaning and disinfecting guidelines for Covid-19. The guests staying immediately prior to your visit and immediately after your visit rated us 5-stars with excellent reviews. In addition in the last two years, I have not had a single complaint about any pests. Your review further stated that you were disturbed every morning of your stay by noise. I had guests staying at my unit, PalmTini next to the unit you were staying during your visit and I had zero complaints and was given a 5-star review. Also, I have asked some of the full-time residents at Pontiac Place and they do not remember any type of noise disturbance. The final inconsistency is that my check-in instructions to all my guests specifically states if you have any complaints or concerns during you stay to notify me immediately so I can address the issues. During your stay (just as I do all my guests), I texted you on your phone asking if all was well with your stay and you text back with "Yes" and a thumps up symbol. Part of creating a five-star experience is being proactive and ensuring that my guests are not encountering any problems or need assistance. I've been trying to understand why you would not have voiced your concerns during your stay. Given these inconsistencies, my conclusion regarding your review stems from the fact that you requested a substantial discount because you were a prior guest, as you asked if you could have the same rate that you paid during your visit 7 months ago. I explained that I was unable to reduce the rates as your most recent visit was during a weekend, in high-demand season and your prior visit was during the week, during low-demand season. I wished you well and thanked you for thinking of Oasis for your visit...however, you decided to book anyway. With so much inconsistency, it appears that your review was a form of retribution for not getting the below market rate you requested. Marilyn
