Dear Kris, This is Robin Bessent, the owner of Swabbies Place. I am so sorry you have decided that Swabbies Place was less desirable than you had counted on. Sue, our assistant and housekeeper, works very hard to keep all three of those cottages in absolute top shape, even during the very busy summer season. The neighborhood to which you are referring, has many new very expensive homes in excellent shape, as well as a fun eclectic mix of classic original cottages dating as far back as the 1930's. I do not know of any in that area that I would consider "run down". We love the sweet nostalgic flavor of our island. Swabbie's Place Cottage is located in a quiet residential area, a 2 minute walk to the beach and 6 blocks from Center Street in downtown Folly. If you found this to be too far for you to stroll, please remember there are bicycles and golf carts available for rent from several venders on the island. They will even deliver them right to you door. Thank you for the suggestion for us to buy a deck of cards. It has been our experience that most guests appreciate the fact that we provide 2 TVs with many cable channels, reading materials, and wifi free of charge. If you would like to have purchased a few games there are several shops on Center Street which carry a wide variety. Our favorite store to recommend is the classic "Mr Johns Beach Shop" located at 20 Center Street, which is a 6 block stroll from the house, and is where we purchased the complementary box of Salt Water Taffy we had waiting for you as your welcome gift. Our cottages are best described as "Pets Considered", not Pet Friendly. We welcome , well behaved dogs and responsible pet owners on a case by case basis, who are mindful of their surroundings and leave the house and grounds as they found them. You are obviously upset that we chose to charge $25 clean up fee, for the several piles of dog poop that were found immediately upon your departure, in the enclosed area of the fenced-in back yard. No other animals have access to that area, and we have provided a dog waste station 2 feet from where one of the large piles of dog poop was found. Our housekeeper goes to great lengths to make sure every renter, and their pets, are comfortable, and the cottages are in excellent shape upon your arrival. The many excellent reviews we have received have confirmed our commitment to providing quality rentals. We hope you enjoy the rest of your summer.
