The house is just perfect for a large Ohana or group, but what seems to be the most favorite part of the house for all of our guests is the large outdoor lanai area. Aloha Michael, We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience that was caused during your stay with us at Hale Ohana due to some emergency maintenance that needed to be done next door to you at Hale Moana. We had a failing lanai situation that was going to become a future safety hazard that we noticed just before you were scheduled to stay with us. With a packed summer schedule ahead of us we did our best to balance the situation and keep the noise/work to a minimum. We apologize for the miscommunication from the handyman about the emergency situation and we came to find out you spoke to someone on the maintenance team who was not fully informed. Their goal when coming to talk to you was trying to find a time of day that is best for them to perform the work as most guests leave the property to explore the island. You gave us no options to work with and said you were never going to be leaving the property until later in the afternoons (5pm) each day. When we explained to you that we are trying to balance the impact to all guests in the surrounding area and working later in the afternoon/evening is more of a nuisance with majority of guests being on property at that time after their day out exploring Kauai you told us you did not care and that is everyone else's problem. You then decided to take out you frustration on the maintenance team member you spoke to by telling them to leave the property and slamming the door in their face. Once all attempts to work around your schedule were exhausted you asked if you could leave the property unless we stopped working. Due to your special event/trip and the impact this work was having on your stay we decided it was appropriate to simply let you check out ASAP and relocate to another property of your choosing. We provided a refund immediately for the cost of the nights you relocated to another property and allowed you a late check out to accommodate the Hotel late afternoon check in time. Again we sincerely apologize for this impact during your stay. For future potential guests please be advised that Garden Island Rentals always does their best to mitigate maintenance/noise impacts at all times. We understand that vacations to Kauai for many are a once and a lifetime event. Other guests staying nearby within the same proximity of you were all very understanding of the situation, cooperative and ultimately enjoyed their vacation time at our properties. We look forward to another chance to hosting you in the future where there is no emergency maintenance situation going on as we know you will enjoy your time just like all the other guests over the years!
