Lots of walks to explore from the front door but also ideally situated for day trips out to explore Exmoor. Local pub (The Ship) only five mins walk if you don't fancy cooking. We had a thoroughly enjoyable week away.

Enjoy! As many times before we found the Coach House a really relaxing place to stay. The walks are superb, Horner Water is a must, we managed both West and East Waters this time. There is no need to drive miles to find places to visit. We find it a bit hot at night and always take a sheet to use with the blanket supplied rather than the duvet.

Wonderful week at the Coach House. Lovely spacious, clean, comfortable, well equipped property in a great location. Walks from the doorstep if you don’t want to go out in the car, plenty of eatery’s in Porlock and Porlock Weir which welcome dogs and so much to do in the surrounding areas. Was so nice to get a glimpse of the Exmoor ponies too when venturing out over Porlock Hill. Highly recommend this property.

The location of the cottage is perfect. Just a short stroll fro the beach and places to eat. You can even cycle to Dunkers Beacon if you have the energy! A bottle of wine on arrival is a nice touch. Inside the cottage, the lounge and dining room are perfect for two with plenty of room. The kitchen is ok, but has an eclectic collection of utensils and cutlery. And wonky doors. The bedroom is a good size with a king size bed - but quite low so you may struggle to get out with aching limbs!

On arrival you are met by the most stunning view of the Bristol Channel from the Coach House window. Lovely welcome pack of milk, biscuits and a bottle of wine. Spacious and light living area and the most comfortable bed. Porlock Weir is a gem with beautiful walks and the “Bottom” Ship Inn (yes there is a Top Ship Inn in Porlock) is a must. Plenty to do locally. So much so that we have already rebooked for next year. Locals are lovely and very helpful.

we enjoyed our stay at the coach house the cottage was spotlessly clean and the location excellent the only problem we had was with the underfloor heating thermostat this was resolved when a member of b o e brought out temporary heaters which were fine this did not spoil our stay and would highly recommend

Porlock Weir is a picturesque harbour village on the Exmoor National Park coastline in Somerset, with a history stretching back to the 15th century. The small tidal harbour, with its ancient lock gates and pebble beach, sits at the heart of a thriving community.



You'll find a welcoming pub, restaurants ranging from relaxed dining to Michelin-listed Italian cuisine, cosy cafes, and a popular street food takeaway -- all within walking distance of the harbour. Independent shops and galleries line the lanes, including Exmoor Glass, the Harbour Gallery, and Porlock Bay Oysters, which opened expanded premises in 2024.



The larger village of Porlock is approximately one mile away and has a broader range of amenities including grocery shops, a traditional butcher, chemist, cash machine, hardware shop, visitor centre, and a selection of independent restaurants and tea rooms. Most shops in Porlock and Porlock Weir keep hours of 9am to 5pm, often extending during the summer season.



Porlock Weir was recently used as a filming location for The Salt Path, the adaptation of Raynor Winn's bestselling memoir about walking the South West Coast Path.
