Let's clarify the facts as they occurred: A January guest damaged beyond repair the year-old shades in the guest bedroom. While I was waiting for new ones to arrive, and because of visual security, I unclipped the damaged shades and replaced them by old ones that I save to clip on when work is done in that room. Because there are drapes that cover the shades, when I checked the house prior to the guest arrival, I forgot that hidden behind the drapes were the old shades. It was my oversight that I did not remove them. Also, I have asked the cleaners to spot the carpet next to the slider door. They left the spot too wet. Again, my mistake that I did not no check. Because of those 2 items, I offered the guest to discount the cost of the guest bedroom or to vacate with full reimbursement. They took the discount with the understanding that the guest bedroom would not be used. But they use the guest bedroom and the accusations about the house condition continue to build up. And even after they left, there was a vail request for additional compensation. When I said NO MORE, I was threaten with a bad review. The reviews before and after this guest are 10/10. Many of my guests have been coming over the years and treat the house as their own. I am grateful to them. The Castle House is my Vacation Home that I only rent part time. It is a very well kept and restored historic house in Stinson Beach.

I'll add to the house instructions the ways to ventilate the house, using the combination of the portholes in the dining area and guest bedroom with the kitchen door. The primary bedroom windows have vents at the top of the windows. Sorry that you were not able to figure it out and that you did not call me about it. The Castle is not a standard frame house and sometimes can need a little guidance.

I am sorry to hear that you did not discover the the ventilation system designed by the original owner in 1952. The primary bedroom windows have an operable vent at the header that with the angle of the glass drive the sea breeze in. By opening the portholes at the guest bedroom and living room, air circulates through the house. Opening either the front or the kitchen door in combination with the portholes increases the air circulation.
