Charming Holly House in Alyth, Angus
Summary:
Holly House in Alyth, Angus sleeps nine guests in five bedrooms.
The Space:
Holly House is an outstanding farmhouse-style property with extensive rural views, close to the UK's largest skiing and snowboarding facilities at Glenshee. The house accommodates nine people in five large, comfortable bedrooms, including a master double with an en-suite shower room. There is also a modern family bathroom with a bath over shower. The ground floor features a spacious open-plan living area with a sitting room and dining area overlooking the garden, and a fully equipped kitchen. Outside, there is a large enclosed garden and a shared games barn, with off-road parking for several cars. Located a short drive from Alyth's local amenities, Holly House is a perfect holiday base for nine guests to enjoy the Scottish Highlands year-round. Note: No stag or hen parties. Check-in from 5pm. Guests need to provide their own towels. There is an EV charging point; notify the owner if needed. From March 2026, you may contact the owner to enquire paddle board hire. This property has a Good Housekeeping bond of 200 GBP
The Neighborhood:
Nestling in the hills of the Forest of Alyth and just south of the Cairngorms National Park, Alyth can trace its history back to the 12th century and perhaps even earlier given the remains of a vitrified fort on nearby Barry Hill. Local legend has it that King Arthur’s Queen Guinevere was a prisoner here of the Pictish King Mordred. Alyth developed throughout the 19th century both due to its textiles industry and the coming of the railway. Always a popular tourist destination due to its location and the founding of a golf course at the end of the 19th century with the original 9 hole course designed by Old Tom Morris from St Andrews and extended to 18 holes in 1934,with a further two clubs added in the area. The town today has an array of shops, bars and cafés. It is close to Blairgowrie, Kirriemuir and Dunkeld and the coast at Arbroath is easily reachable. Ideal for exploring the great outdoors, Alyth is ideal for walkers, cyclists, golfers and anglers as well as skiers.
