Originally a grain store, this handsome stone conversion is now a fabulous farm getaway for a family. Set across two floors, the two-bedroom cottage sleeps five guests and is one of several holiday homes on the farm at Whitwell, on the Isle of Wight. Surrounded by rural beauty spots and scenic footpaths, it is just 6 miles from Ventnor, where you can potter in the shops and dine out in an array of pubs and restaurants. Ventnor Botanic Garden is also well worth a visit, and the beach here is popular with families seeking to paddle and swim. Shanklin Beach, 8 miles away, is also an excellent option, while quieter Steephill Cove, 5.5 miles away, are great for those with older children. The UK’s oldest theme park, Blackgang Chine, 4.5 miles away, promises a thrilling day out and fun for all the family.


Enter the cottage at ground-floor level, untying walking boots and pulling off wellies in the hall as you pass. Turn right to head through to the kitchen/diner, a great social space, where you can all help cook and serve up before dining at the table. The kitchen area is well arranged with everything you are likely to need in your self-catering and the table offers ample space for all. The family shower room, with a handy WC, is also downstairs, and the lounge is to the other side of the hall. This comfortable room opens onto the garden. Sink back into the deep, brown leather sofas to catch up on your favourite TV programmes here. Both bedrooms are on the upper floor of the cottage. Climb the stairs to rest your head in either the twin bedroom or the family room. This has both a king-size bed and a single, making it ideal for those with younger children. The beamed family bathroom has a shower and a bath for you to choose from.


The sunny garden at this cottage encompasses a patio for you to dine out and BBQ on, plus a small lawn where youngsters can play. They will also enjoy the shared play and animal petting areas on the farm, while you might like to go fishing in the lakes. There is off-road, private parking with this property.
