Pilastri - Flo Apartments
The apartment Pilastri is a bright and cosy one-bedroom flat on the third floor without lift of a typical Florentine tower house, in the most authentic historical heart of the city, on Via dei Pilastri, which leads from Piazza Sant'Ambrogio to the Accademia Gallery, in the Sant'Ambrogio district.
This lively district, full of characteristic shops, bars and restaurants owes its popularity to its most iconic and famous location: the oldest market in Florence.
Newly renovated and tastefully furnished, it will be your ideal nest to discover and fully immerse yourself in the culture, history and art of this splendid ancient city and spend a holiday in the most authentic and ancient heart of our wonderful Florence.
It is located on the 3rd floor without lift (65 steps) of a typical Florentine house, a stone's throw from all the main attractions of the city: the Cathedral, the Ponte Vecchio, Piazza della Signoria, the elegant Via Tornabuoni, Piazza Santa Croce, the basilica of Santa Maria Novella, the lungarni that run along the Arno river.
The flat is equipped with all the comforts that will allow you to relax after a day spent visiting museums and the city and will make your holiday an experience to be told.
The careful renovation has enhanced the traditional details of the old building, creating a perfect mix of antique and modern furnishings: the wooden beams on the ceiling, the period furniture, the warm parquet flooring, and the light, pastel colours of the furnishings give this flat a romantic, warm and welcoming atmosphere, which alone is enough to make up for the steps taken to get here.
The spaces are perfectly organised, and the three large windows overlooking the rooftops and city gardens give warm natural light to the whole space.
You enter a hallway with warm, light-coloured parquet flooring and already feel the relaxed atmosphere of this cosy nest.
To the right is the modernly furnished kitchen, equipped with everything you might need to prepare breakfast, lunch and dinner whenever you wish (moka, dishwasher, kettle, toaster).
An arched opening with its period window leads to the cosy living room, furnished with a large, comfortable sofa and TV, with large windows looking out onto the inner gardens across the street.
From here one enters the romantic double bedroom furnished with a large bed and stylish bedside tables.
The ensuite travertine bathroom with large shower and marble basin completes the flat.
Wifi, air conditioning and heating cover the whole flat.
INGLESE
La Casa del Giglio is located in the historical centre, in the Sant'Ambrogio area, in the Santa Croce district, which, with its craft shops, bars and restaurants serving traditional Tuscan cuisine, is one of the historical souls of old Florence.
More precisely, we are in Via dei Pilastri, one of the many streets that start from the square of the church of Sant'Ambrogio, one of the oldest in Florence, probably founded in 988.
From Piazza della Repubblica you can take Via Borgo la Croce and reach Sant'Ambrogio in less than ten minutes.
Sant'Ambrogio is certainly one of Florence's best living quarters, and the city's main monuments, squares and museums are within easy walking distance.
In the streets of this district it is still possible to meet the ‘true Florentines’ walking, shopping or simply chatting on the steps of a church, on a park bench, at the market or among the narrow streets of some alley.
One of the district's most representative monuments is, without a doubt, the beautiful Synagogue built in 1882. In fact, the area is home to the city's ancient ghetto, the part of the city where the Jewish community lived.
Strolling through the streets of Sant'Ambrogio, a lively neighbourhood full of characteristic shops, bars and restaurants, you can breathe in history and culture: in no time at all, you go from the passion of working in the workshops of the cornermen and biscuit makers to street-art.
Off the beaten tourist track, the most iconic and famous place to breathe in the typical atmosphere of a city market and sample local produce is the historic Sant'Ambrogio Market: a must-see, the true heart of the neighbourhood, it offers a characteristic glimpse of everyday life in the Renaissance city and here you can find high-quality fresh produce such as meat, fruit and vegetables, and fish.
The whole district is characterised by a long antiques tradition and, walking through the streets of Sant'Ambrogio, you will be surprised by the number of beautiful antique shops on every corner.
A few steps away from the market, you can wander among the stalls of the eclectic Flea Market. Formerly located in Piazza dei Ciompi, home of the former fish market with the famous Loggia del Pesce, the market is now held in Largo Annigoni. Here you will find antiques, prints, jewellery, used books, household items and much more.
If you get hungry in Sant'Ambrogio, you really are in the right place. Here you can still find those small bars, those trattorias, those trippai that are the most typical expression of eating in Florence.
It really is worth taking a tour of the neighbourhood and experiencing its atmosphere: it will be a great experience to take home with you.
We are very close to all the most important places of interest in the city.
Within a radius of 1 km you will find:
Accademia Gallery
Piazza della Signoria with Palazzo Vecchio
Piazza SS.Annuziata and the Spedale degli Innocenti with its beautiful panoramic terrace
