Overall the property was ok. The location is nice, parking was easy and the views were great. The pool was nice and it was nice relaxing by the ocean. However, the condo was not very clean. The walls, stove, and kitchen counters were all dirty and had some kind of residue. The beds were also very hard making it difficult to sleep.

Great place!

It was a fantastic apartment and it fit our family of four just perfectly ! The unit is well equipped and we appreciated the beach chairs, towels and boogie boards. It was great to have a washer and dryer on site. The kitchen was well stocked. We also liked the pool and BBQ area.

Perfect condo

This condo was perfect for our 10 day stay with two teens. A quiet building with beautiful ocean views. The condo was very clean had everything we could have needed including beach chairs, snorkel gear, tennis rackets, boogie boards, cooler, beach umbrella, plus a kitchen with everything we needed. We also used the tennis courts and pool a few times which were all clean and very well maintained. The location was a quick 5 minute drive to all the shops and restaurants but far enough away that we didn't have to deal with the noise/downtown clientele. Highly recommend this condo!!!

Comfortable & Good Location

The property fit our family of 4 w two teens perfectly. It was beautifully decorated, and provided enough towels, bedding, etc. glad to have a washer and dryer on site. The kitchen was well stocked with basic items and seasonings. AC in bedrooms worked. Bed was a good size and comfortable enough. The gym weight equipment in the fitness room is pretty much rusted. Don’t get your hopes up if you wanted to use weights. Running along the main highway is your best option.

The condo was lovely, and Dawn, the manager was remarkably helpful and responsive. My son loved the loft bedroom. We really appreciated all the gear. We used the snorkel gear and boogie boards. We also enjoyed both the ping-pong table and tennis courts in the complex. All very positive. The only reason I'm taking one star off is because there were some tiny bugs in the kitchen that were pretty annoying. They really liked the basin of the coffee maker, and it was a pain to clean them out each morning before making coffee.

Thanks for the nice review. I would have liked to have known about the tiny bugs. The only kind that seem to be going around right now are ghost ants. That's why we stock ant bait and bug spray in all of our properties. I'll get a hold of the current folks in the unit to see if they are having an issue.

Would have been nice to know…

The condo itself was exactly as shown in pictures and we were happy with our unit. However, there are a lot of rules that I feel should be posted along with the rental info. Pool rules are pretty ridiculous, courts can not be used for pickle ball, and many long time residents/owners want to micromanage the complex and are not welcoming in the least. For these reasons, I have chosen to stay elsewhere next year.

Excellent Oceanfront Apartment

The Kona Makai is a fantastic complex. The pool, hot tub, and oceanside BBQ are such a great part of the stay. The apartment is lovely. Well furnished with comfortable furniture and beds. The upstairs loft was perfect for our teen son. Parking at the condo is easy. The management company is easy to work with, prompt in their responses, and friendly. The unit has beach equipment, like chairs and boogie boards which makes that part of the stay easy. As far as location goes, it was perfect. Close to town, with easy access to restaurants, groceries and the beaches. The apartment is on the top floor of three floors with no elevator, but that was not a problem for us. As far as the rules go, they didn't bother us. They seemed like common sense courtesies that make staying in the buildings more enjoyable for everyone. The whole stay was relaxing and fun. We look forward to staying here again!

Vacation by the Shore in Paradise

We had three lovely weeks in this very nice condo. When we arrived we felt like we were entering our own home. It is lovely and so many good things about it. Spacious and nice. The two Lanais gave us a feeling of being in Hawaii . The gardens are very beautifully kept and a joy to walk around in. Having the big TV's helped when we returned after a day at all the marvelous Beaches on The Big Island Of Hawaii. The Bathroom and the Master Bedroom were so comfy and we enjoyed the tropical breezes flowing through the Condo. The sound of the Ocean Waves lulled us to sleep The Kitchen was well stocked with all the right Pots and Pans and Dishes and cooking utensils. There was a shortage of Wine glasses! The outside BBQ section was great for cooking and watching the sunset. However, the kitchen is really showing its age, especially the dishwasher and the stove. It would be nice to see it upgraded. The beach equipment were plentiful and in good condition, we enjoyed the umbrella and the chairs when we visited the pretty beaches. Every thing was great and we had such a wonderful time that we booked again for next year. Thank you Bob and Karen for sharing your little part of Paradise with us. We so appreciate it. Quiet and comfortable

My two teen boys and I enjoyed our stay. The twin beds and pool were a big draw. But there was such attention to detail. Great to have access to snorkeling and other beach gear and a few staples in the kitchen including Kona coffee. I would definitely stay here again. The only complaint was that some of the snorkel hear was getting a little old and worn out. We loved the breezes blowing through.

A slice of heaven

What a lovely place. Situated right in town, yet very peaceful. The place is spacious and we had a perfect sunset view with dolphins swimming by. We love the lanai, the high ceilings, the comfortable bed and everything you need in the kitchen. It was the perfect place to celebrate our one year anniversary. Mahalo 🌺we will return.

Beautiful place to stay, the location was perfect on the water an very close to shopping n food.

Our stay on the property was amazing, nice an quiet. The amenities on the property was great an very useful. This was My first time to Kona an it was as exciting an so much fun here. The condo was very comfortable an plenty of room,just not enough bathrooms. I thought the room had 1-1/2 bathrooms. Other then it only having 1 full bath the stay was excellent. Thank u again for letting us stay with u guys we did take care of the room we stayed in as if it was our own home. Kona 2021

The property and unit we stayed at was clean with basic essentials stocked. The washer and dryer in the unit came in handy. The check in and check out process was not hard. For the most part we enjoyed our stay. We were out enjoying the island most of the days but it was nice to come back and relax on the lawn chair in front of the ocean and enjoy the nice breeze.

Great Place in Kona

Place was as described online plus. Location is a short walk to town and all it has to offer. Home and grounds are beautiful and well kept and place is easy to access. The added bonus of beach chairs, coolers, snorkel gear, tennis gear (though not used by us) was very convenient. Everything in the house was labeled so there was no searching for things to find what you needed a great time saver. Lanai has great views of gardens, pool and ocean. I would have no issues staying here again.

Great Location

The property/gardens are beautiful. This is a great condo to unwind in at the end of the day. It is comfortable and has everything you need. I thoroughly enjoyed both lanais and the partial ocean views they provided. The pullout couch was one of the more comfortable that I have ever slept on! Thankful for the ac when the air was at a standstill, especially up in the loft. The complex has a few different gas grills along the ocean to use, a great pool/hot tub, and nice chairs to relax in along the ocean front. Very quiet for being right on Ali’i. I would stay again!

We really enjoyed our stay & the unit had everything one would need ...would definitely return...couldn’t have been any better ..had everything & high end at that!!

Family reunion

First time fir my parents from Germany in Hawaii, couldn't have been better, very spacious for the whole family, everything we needed was there, even more, perfect! We had a great time!

nice condo complex

property was clean, in a good location just out of the downtown zone, with a nice pool area right on the water. would recommend this place!

Kona Makai

Beautiful property and condo. It has everything you need. I’ve lanai for meals. Great for kids and adults. Shopping and Restaurants nearby a great sunset views.
