Overall, lovely stay at Plantation Cottage! I bright my mom and auntie to Kauai for the first time, and this was a solid choice in terms of accommodations. The house is large and bright, and well-situated for exploring the whole island, really, as getting from the house to the main road is a short drive.Amenities were fine; the view is gorgeous, and the outdoor deck for sunset views is a lovely spot to hang out. Some of the beach gear and the stove could use some love, but overall we had an amazing time.

Private pool was awesome.

We had a great time. Neighborhood is quiet and off the beaten path, yet close drive to town and restaurants. You can’t beat having your own private pool and hot tub. My only complaint would be that the washing machine was slow, took forever to wash and dry towels! We wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again. As a side note, don’t pass up Paco’s Tacos at the golf course! Close, great breakfast and affordable and tasty food with live music in the evenings.

The property is nice but is aging and needs some updates. One of the toilets was running when we got there. The stove is pretty old and a lot of writing on the knobs is worn off. So additional instructions were needed to be able to use the stove and oven. The washer worked fine, but the dryer did not dry clothes very well. A usual lot of clothes took as much as 2-3 hours to dry on high heat. Even after that, it still didn’t feel fully dry. Locks on back doors were difficult to lock up. Outside soft furniture looked comfy, but wasn’t cleaned so we opted not to use it and only used hard surface furniture which didn’t seem to collect as much debris and dirt. When we arrived both indoor door to the garage and the door to the room there with bunk beds were locked up. This was very unfortunate and our kids had to sleep on the floor in our bedrooms first night until we were able to get staff unlock those doors. The pool was a great addition to the house. So was the hot tub. It got a lot of use and was a highlight of our stay there.Property management staff was responsive to our requests for help.In general we enjoyed our stay there but wish it was properly maintained especially aging appliances. Seems like a common problem with rental properties. Checkout instructions were not overwhelming.

Thank you for such a thoughtful and detailed review. It sounds like the pool and hot tub earned their keep, and we're glad our team stayed responsive whenever you reached out. We also understand some aspects didn't go as you expected, and that's not the standard we hold ourselves to. Your notes gave us a helpful roadmap, and we're already acting on them: the back doors are scheduled for replacement, and we're giving the appliances a fresh look, including the dryer's sensor-dry setting, which can occasionally run longer than expected, so everything feels guest-ready. For the oven, you'll find framed step-by-step instructions right beside it to make it easy to use. We're grateful you took the time to share all of this, and we'd be glad to welcome you back with Gather for the easy, restful stay this home is made for.
