Perfect location
Porto is fabulous. And this location is ideal for exploring it. Close to all the action of the bridge, the shopping streets leading to the riverfront itself. All away from traffic and tourist congestion. Still, we easily found three fantastic restaurants in easy walking distance. Iâd envisioned a wide, tree-lined avenue, with an upstairs apartment overlooking it. Quite the contrary. The unit is on a very narrow, cobblestone street, in a neighborhood that is a mixture of working class and rehabs made into tourist rentals. The nearby "supermarket," which was adequate for all our needs, was more of a neighborhood grocery. And then there were the âdoormenâ Most times when we arrived or departed, there were one or more local guys sitting on the entry stoop, smoking. Never a real problem as they always cleared away for us. I didnât realize that the â-1Trsâ in the address indicated that this unit was in the basement of the building. After tediously trying three floors of apartment key-box entry codes, I finally got hold of the the owner by phone and was properly directed downward.Inside everything was modern and like new, just as shown in the listing. Great bed and shower on the loft level. The outdoor patio area, was the one disappointmentAll in all we found this a wonderful place to stay at an amazingly low price, and would highly recommend both it and a visit to this marvelous city.
