Region: From heather-clad moors and limestone scars, to market towns and the steady pace of country life - the sublime Dales await you! Where else in Britain is it as satisfying to sit and do nothing as it is to explore the numerous pursuits on offer?
Town: Reeth, a charming and well-liked village, is tucked between Calver Hill, Fremington Edge, and Harkerside at the northernmost point of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, where Arkengarthdale and Swaledale meet. Reeth, which is located in an area of outstanding natural beauty with attractive rolling hills and breathtaking views, has a colourful past since it was first settled by the Saxons and has since been recognised as a lead mining town and a centre for hand knitting. The Swaledale Museum, which is situated close to a wide variety of stores, tea cafes, and restaurants, proudly displays both trades. Reeth has three options for historic inns, including the charming Buck Inn, which is whitewashed like many of the 18th century houses clustered around the triangular village green. Furthermore, accessible old market towns like Richmond and Leyburn provide a wider range of amenities. Aysgarth Falls, Semerwater, and Hardraw Force (England's largest single drop waterfall at 99 feet) are all within a short drive of Askrigg. Whether you prefer to explore the caves, cliffs, waterfalls, or any of the numerous walking and cycling routes that encircle this colourful and varied terrain, Reeth makes for an excellent starting point for exploring North Yorkshire's stunning, sweeping countryside.
