Quiet escape just outside of Varenna

Beautiful and quiet unit just outside of Varenna. Woke up to views of the river and right down the hill is access to a small beach. Was also very quiet. One thing to note is the location. I would say it's not walkable to get to the town of Varenna from here. It's pretty far but also, the roads are narrow and don't have a sidewalk till you get close to the town. When we tried to get a taxi services or uber, we were told there were none available. It also rained during our time so renting e-bikes wasn't a feasible option. Luckily we had a rental car we could take and just park outside the town. The roads and garage are also pretty small, so if you go that route, rent a compact vehicle. My only slight frustration was the lack of supplies in the unit. The island requires colored trash bags for various items. The instructions said there were some under the sink but we only found one and the local grocery doesn't sell them. The checkout instructions asked us to take the trash out and replace these bags. I messaged the host about this but didn't hear back.

The view was amazing. The drive to the home was a bit challenging. It was more than a walk to town but we really enjoyed our stay and the location to other towns.

Beautiful but MUST have a car

The cons: First it isn’t walkable as the listing stated. We were forced to walk because we had no other option. It’s up a very steep windy hill and the other part was a walk down a narrow road with cars, motorcycles & bicycles. Took about 40 min walk to get to the Bellano Thankfully locals seem to be used to pedestrians on the road. Second lots of bugs. Which isn’t owners fault. Doors were difficult to open. Had to turn on hot water to shower. Just lots of odd little things. Pros: The views were beautiful. Beds were comfortable. Even with a car I’m not sure our group would stay again considering the cost and the cons.

Stunning but Need Rental Car

This property is gorgeous. Spacious, quiet condo with stunning Lake Como views. It was clean and had comfortable beds. Beautiful pool area is a bonus. A very peaceful location a few miles outside of Varenna (please note it is not within walking distance to/from Varenna). Property management is pleasant to interact with and communicative and responsive. The only draw back is that you MUST have a rental car if you book this space. Taxis in this area are not reliable and are often fully booked with no availability (only a few taxi services available and none of them are friendly). You also need to bring groceries / all the food you will need, as grocery stores are not very close either and you need a car to reach them. There is one restaurant nearby (that is fantastic) but often fully booked or closed. Overall, I would book again, I would just make sure I had a rental car this time.

The property is located on the hills, overlooking the lake and the mountain over Lake Garda - very impressive. Property has quality furnishing. The only thing we wish is making the check-in easier.
