Tavira Antiqua Doma is the ideal holiday home for those wishing to stay in style and luxury in the very centre of the beautiful and historic coastal town of Tavira, Portugal. The property is a stunningly renovated traditional Portuguese house located on a cobbled street and comprises a 4 bedroom apartment. The apartment is luxurious with traditional features, comfortable furniture and internet. Fantastic water scenes, shops and restaurants are within a few minutes' walk. A wide choice of lovely beaches and golf courses can be reached within 15-20 minutes. The property is located one minute from Tavira's river and a bridge providing direct access to the beach ferry, the town's old market square, riverside gardens, fish restaurants and water taxis. The beach ferry service links the town to Tavira Island within about 10 minutes, offering a fabulous 5 km beach of golden sand. Alternatively there is a wide choice of alternative beaches within 10-20 minutes by car.

The property was close to everything. Free parking on the street a few blocks down or by the grocery store not far from the apartment.There is no air conditioning on the main floor. There were fans so we had a good air flow.I would recommend putting a queen bed in the bedroom upstairs. The twin beds were extremely uncomfortable. We just moved downstairs.The apartment is lovely and we had an amazing time.

Grand accommodation in great location. Beautifully furnished with well equipped kitchen, quality fittings in bathrooms and strong WiFi and entertainment system...Cleaning prior to occupation could have been better, with dirty floors throughout...Outside spaces were covered in sand, dust and bird droppings which required cleaning before use..The ensuite bathroom on the first floor suffered severe problems with strong sewage smells rendering it unusable. This issue requires immediate attention. With doors closed, this didn't spoil our stay, but would be an issue for larger groups if this room needed to be used.The communications with the host were first class with our reception being in the late evening..I would recommend the accommodation if the sanitary odour issue is resolved.

Brilliant for groups, brilliant for city centre

We all loved the house, it was comfortable and roomy with lots of kitchenware, dishwasher, washer etc. The beds were comfy and always plenty of hot water. The roof terrace was great but the steps up were steep with an inward closing door that made carrying anything difficult. I would definitely recommend the property to anyone in a group. However there were things that need addressing. The balconies were dirty, an overflowing ashtray was on the front balcony. The towels need replacing, they were off white, thin and smelt fusty. I washed them all on a high temperature so at least they smelt better. No washing up liquid or bin bags. I could have bought some but think they should be provided. The under sink cupboard was in such a mess I couldn’t find anything useful. Two of the toilet seats were broken, I emailed the first day but nothing was done. The shower in the downstairs bathroom doesn’t fit in the wall holder so can only be used by holding it. Some of the beach towels were covered in sand so don’t think they had been washed. A small welcome pack would have been nice, we arrived after 9pm and would have liked milk, water, bread, butter at the least. Costs very little but means a great deal. All small things but would have made the place perfect.

Great location, inaccurate listing.

Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this listing. First, the listing indicates that the apartment is air conditioned, which was the most important amenity for our family given the extreme heat. This was inaccurate, as only 2 of the 4 bedrooms have a/c and the main living area with the kitchen, living room, and other 2 bedrooms did not. Of the two air conditioners, one was only blowing room temperature air and was unable to cool the room to a comfortable temperature (the other worked fine, so most of us slept in that room). The 2 rooms without a/c had overhead fans, but one was broken. When I reached out to the host, he sent someone to check the a/c and the fan, and he told us she said they were in fine working order (they were not). So, were were left with no air conditioning with daytime temperatures in the high 90s. The other reason I cannot recommend is that the host was extremely uncooperative and disrespectful when I reached out to him. After telling me his representative indicated everything was working fine, he added as a closing note that she told him the apartment was in a "disgusting" state when his she visited. I was shocked at his reply, and requested that he send someone over immediately to inspect the apartment because this was completely false, and the apartment was in the exact condition it was in when we checked in. Not surprisingly, he never replied to my request or sent someone to meet with me. The apartment was a good size and in a great location.

This guest’s perpetual demands for visits to the property could not always be fully justified. In the case of the air conditioning, we were first told there was a fault, then that it was working fine, then that it was then not working after all. Because local aircon engineers are expensive, the housekeeper first called round to verify whether the a/c was actually at fault. It was found to be in perfect working order. A french window to the room in question was found to be left open so it is hardly surprising that the a/c might not have been fully effective. No successive guests have since complained about the air conditioning. As mentioned in the review, two rooms on the floor below are provided with ceiling fans as some people do not respond well to air conditioning. We did verify that one of the ceiling fans had stopped working as reported, for which a repair has been organised. A number of powerful and highly reliable portable fans are made available for use in the event of any misfunction with the air circulation or cooling equipment. This was pointed out to the guest at the time. The request that the housekeeper inspect the property once the guest had tidied up from its awful state was declined as the cleaner would be there within an hour of the guest departing. Nevertheless, we always value and act on constructive feedback and strive to maintain the high standard for which the apartment has received countless five star reviews over many years.

Sehr schöne Wohnung - zentral gelegen.

Die Wohnung ist riesig, schön und gut gelegen. Die Raumaufteilung ist sicher auch perfekt, um einen Urlaub zu acht zu verbringen. Zu viert hatten wir mehr als genügend Platz!

Dachterrasse in Tavira

Das Apartment liegt zentral in Tavira. Es ist sehr gut ausgestattet. Wir haben die Dachterrasse sehr genossen.

Casa muito agradável e ampla. Fomos 6 adultos, 2 crianças e 2 bebés e estivemos sempre muito confortáveis e com espaço! Os quartos são bons, têm camas confortáveis e são todos suite que é uma grande vantagem!! A cozinha tinha tudo o que precisávamos para cozinhar. Conseguimos estacionar à porta praticamente todos os dias (mesmo sendo Agosto) mas cuidado que se paga estacionamento das 9h às 19h por isso ou sai a essa hora ou então é melhor estacionar noutra zona da cidade onde não se pague (perto do pingo doce por exemplo). É uma casa antiga por isso o isolamento térmico não é o melhor, mas 2 dos quartos têm AC e há imensas ventoinhas fortes disponíveis para ajudar a refrescar a parte de baixo (sala 2 quartos). O único ponto de melhoria seria talvez colocar uma guarda no topo das escadas da sala que são muito ingremes, principalmente para quem tem bebés. Em resumo ficámos surpreendidos com a casa, era melhor do que dava a entender nas fotos e gostámos muito de passar aqui as nossas férias.

En los 12 años desde que esta casa ha estado abierta, nadie se ha quejado de las camas en esta propiedad. Tienen colchones cómodos de muy alta calidad y siempre están bien presentados. En cuanto a los consumibles, este no es un hotel y los huéspedes deben proporcionar artículos de casos personales a través de que proporcionamos papel higiénico en cada uno de los cuatro baños. Para una mejor idea de la calidad de esta propiedad, consulte todas las demás críticas que regularmente alcanzan 4 y 5 estrellas.

Great Location

Great location central to all Taviras restaurants and bars. Quite area no problems with noise at night. All rooms have access to own bathroom and toilet. Traditonal Portuguese house.
