We have completely renovated and restored our beloved cottage. It has taken 1 year, but we think you will agree It was worth it! The cottage can accommodate up to 6 people. Upstairs there are 3 bedrooms (1 King Bed, 1 Double Bed, 2 Single Beds). One of the single beds in the twin room is a cool little raised hideaway bed! This nook is equipped with a TV, with Netflix + Prime Video to keep the little ones happy.
The bathroom features a large shower, delightful roll top bath, and handy anti-fog mirror. Downstairs there is a stylish log burner to keep you toasty. The cottage has full central heating.
There is a large 65’ ’ TV in the lounge with Netflix + Prime Video for watching your favourite movie in front of the fire. Additionally there is a TV in the dining room should you wish to catch up on the news with your morning coffee. The kitchen is well equipped with a Fridge/Freezer, Microwave, Toaster, Kettle, Nespresso Machine, Slow Cooker, Induction Hob and Oven. Why not spend an afternoon baking?
For those rainy days there is a huge library of books on the local area. We also have a lot of fiction/non-fiction books, and a great collection of board games. There’s nothing better than winning at Scrabble as you sip tea during a downpour!
Dating from 300 years before the Norman conquest, Ilsington is a quiet and welcoming little village set within Dartmoor National Park. Ivy Cottage is to be found adjacent to The Church of St Michael, a beautiful 15th Century building boasting captivating architecture, spectacular stained glass windows and a fascinating church yard.
As is the case in many small communities, the old pub is in the heart of the village and is a meeting place for locals and visitors alike. Within stumbling distance to Ivy Cottage, the 18th century ‘The Carpenters Arms’ serves warming ales and traditional pub fayre.
There are an abundance of wonderful walks around the cottage covering countryside, woods and of course Dartmoor National Park.
There is a quaint and well stocked village store where friendly locals volunteer, keeping the little shop open 8AM-5PM Monday to Saturday. The store is open 9AM-12PM on Sunday mornings.
A 10 minute stroll down Honeywell Lane will take you to the Village Playground and Tennis courts.
Just around the corner from the cottage you will find the community run village store, stocking all the essentials you would need at short notice. The old traditional village pub is also just a stones throw away, perfect for a hearty ale and delicious pie. If you take a 5 minute drive up towards Haytor you will find an excellent Cafe - we often stop by for a full English breakfast! There is also an award winning restaurant.
Within 45 minutes from the cottage are the sandy beaches and quaint fishing towns of South Devon. Fill up on fresh seafood, explore the craft shops and sit on the beach with an ice cream. The perfect day trip!
There is a hard copy cottage guide on the table in the Orangery that we have written to make your stay nice and easy. Inside you will find everything you need to know about the cottage, plus all of our favourite local places around Dartmoor. After you book, just ask and we will send you the PDF version so you can get planning!
