lovely stay but maybe not so 'luxury'!
We stayed with our two young children in August and had a lovely stay, really peaceful location and the kids especially like being on the lake and seeing the ducks come up to the lodge every morning! The lodge was well equipped and had everything we needed, bathrooms were immaculate and well presented, again the kids loved the tv in the bathroom! we did feel though that overall the lodge was a bit shabby and definitely needs updating in places. Some of the interior doors were peeling, the floorboards were very worn in places, the decking outside the front entrance was wobbly and looked like it needed fixing down. There were a few stains on the couch and holes in the cushions, things that I feel should have been sorted given the price we paid and that the accommodation was marked as luxury! The staff were all friendly but they did seem to be lacking in experience, we only went to the onsite restaurant one night having rang beforehand to check it was child friendly with kids menus etc. When we arrived, we were given main menus only. We have two children under 6 so I had to ask if we could have a children's menu and the young girl serving said 'oh its pretty much whats on the small plates on the main menu but I can print one off if you want'! When the menu came it was in fact nothing like the main menu!! Overall we were happy with our stay but probably wouldn't return due to the price point not really matching the standard of the accommodation.
