AMAZING!

We were just there a few weeks ago with our three children and we traveled through Italy and made a stop here for a week. It is an incredible place with the most breathtaking views! We were close enough to Florence and Siena but far enough away to truly take in the beauty of Tuscany. Suzy is very welcoming and helped us to make reservations and suggestions for local day trips. If you go there make sure to visit Castello del Trebbio for a cooking class and wine tasting. You will love your stay here!

Dream Tuscan Getaway

This was a once in a life time trip. I always told my husband if we went to Italy I wanted to experience what you see in the movies. Well, our villa in Rufina brought us that experience and more. Suzy and her family treated us like family and told us all the best places to sightsee and eat. The views and peacefulness are perfect to get away from the hustle and bustle of the outside world. We loved meeting the neighbors and even helped them harvest their grapes. Just a beautiful neighborhood and area.

Perfect family vacation

We had a wonderful family vacation in Italy and the farmhouse in Rufina was the perfect base to begin and end each day. The house was beautiful, clean and very well maintained. The views were amazing both during the day and night. Suzy and her family were the perfect hosts- kind, full of suggestions and very knowledgable about the area. Even our two teenage girls were made to feel at home. It was very nice sitting outside, sipping wine and enjoying the views while learning about Suzy and her family. We have already recommended the house to several other families and are checking our calendars to see the soonest we can get back and visit again.

Amazing Hosts and lovely setting

We stayed in this Tuscan Farmhouse with our two teenage boys. Suzy and her sons were simply fabulous. Suzy arranged for us to have a wine tour at a 900 year old castle that was originally owned by the enemies of the Medici family, she even drove her car ahead of ours to ensure we arrived at the location. She was very generous with her time and recommendations as to what to see and do. Her son Lorenzo gave us a lesson on how to cook Ravioli and then we had a lovely meal with the family overlooking the Tuscan farmland. We would highly recommend this property. The lovely little cafe at the top of the hill beside the Windmill is well worth the visit.

Wonderful hospitality

Suzy and Salvatore were wonderful hosts and made us feel very much at home in the villa. Suzy was always on hand with advice and recommendations about interesting places to visit and nice places to eat. We took advantage of the option to have Salvatore cook for us one night and enjoyed a convivial evening and delicious food. Our four-year-old loved spending time in the pool and meeting the resident dog, cat, donkeys, and chickens. Like anywhere in rural Tuscany in August, we were bothered by horseflies and mosquitoes, but that is par for the course and the lovely setting of the villa more than compensated for the occasional punture di tafani.

Beautiful Setting - Terrific Family Hosts

Lovely home in the Tuscan countryside. Pictures represent home/setting well. Suzy very helpful in making the arrangements for our visit. Highlight of our stay was scheduling two nights for the family to prepare a meal for us. Antonio (Suzy's son- a chef) cooked a wonderful meal our first night. Charlie served the meal and both of her sons were a delight to interact with during our stay. Salvatore, Suzy's husband, prepared pizza in the outside stone oven our last night. It was terrific. Recommend visiting Trebbio Castle for tour and wine tasting. Also recommend having lunch at nearby Bottega Del Mulino (property has windmill) and then it is a beautiful scenic drive over to Trebbio Castle. We very much enjoyed our stay in Tuscany.

A brilliant base for exploring beautiful Tuscany!

Thanks to Suzy and family, who through their generosity made us feel most welcome throughout our stay, we have many fond memories of our stay in Rufina. Placed high on the hillside above Rufina, the property itself provided breathtaking views - we were always happy to return after a day out just to relax and enjoy the local scenery. Within easy reach of places such as Florence, Pisa, San Gimignano and Siena, the property turned out to be ideal for touring. Not familiar with Italian roads we were a tad nervous about getting around at first, but soon got the hang of it. Driving to Siena and San Gimignano turned out to be quite straightforward, though we took the train to Florence and Pisa. With a station five minutes away in Rufina (with parking not a problem) and regular train services, it was easy to travel far afield. Though visiting major tourist sites is a must, the local Mugello countryside is stunning - If we were to visit again we would most likely explore the local area in more detail. During our stay we enjoyed meeting Suzy's family (including pets Bella and Jimmy) and were kept well-stocked with fruit from the garden. Suzy's local knowledge was invaluable - I doubt we would have found the excellent pizzeria by the nearby fishing lake, nor the view of the sunset from the windmill nearby. Having expert advice on hand certainly made things easier. The property was clean, well-maintained and contained everything that we needed - on arrival we quickly felt "at home". We had a great time in Tuscany, thanks in no small part to Suzy, and can recommend this property to anyone looking for a relaxing base from which to explore the region. For the record, we enjoyed Siena and San Gimignano a lot more than we expected - certainly more than we enjoyed Florence and Pisa (though these places must be visited!).

Everything you Thought the Tuscan Hills Would be and more

Every morning we lazily sipped delicious Italian coffee over looking the olive groves and vineyards nested in the Tuscan Hillsides. Actually we did this for lunch and dinner and any other opportunity we could find. The neighbours donkey would announce his daily arrival around 3:30 and the hens would offer us up fresh morning eggs. It really was a piece of heaven. What could be better. The home was authentic Italian, welcoming, comfortable, and very clean. Beds were all very comfortable. Not only did the windows offer an incredible view from every room but they also provided a lovely cooling breeze on warm days. The home is large, we lined up 3 single beds in one room and it still had lots of room. Everything was well equipped and very functional. the kitchen so spacious - great for family dinners. But the best part were the owners. Suzy and Salvatore were wonderful, so accommodating, and just lovely people. We had a wonderful family evening of cooking lessons taught by their son Lorenzo, we learned to make homemade pasta and wood burning oven pizza. It was a wonderful afternoon and evening. The pizza was to die for!! They all really cared that our time there was a great one. We enjoyed 6 weeks here at the end of our 6 month European tour. We originally only booked for one week to host our family (there were 7 of us for 1 week). We loved it so much we stayed. We stayed in a lot of VRBO rentals on our tour, this home hands down, was the best experience we had. The community of Rufina was so welcoming and we played some great tennis at their local tennis club. The home is located just 25 mins from Florence, very easy drive or train ride. Great location for visiting the rest of Tuscany. We comfortably did day trips to Florence, Pisa, Luca, Arezzo, Bologna, Siena, and everything in between. We would return here in a minute and are already talking about booking our trip next year. Wonderful home, lovely family, and amazing views.

Großes Ferienhaus mit tollem Blick

Wir waren für 1 Woche Gäste in dem herrlich gelegenen Ferienhaus und haben uns rundum wohl gefühlt. Suzy und Ihre Familie haben uns mit einem Glas Wein herzlich empfangen und waren jederzeit freundlich und aufmerksam. Wir hatten bereits im Voraus das angebotene Dinner gebucht und können es nur weiter empfehlen. In dem Ferienhaus ist alles Notwendige vorhanden und die großen Zimmer schön möbliert. Vor allem der amerikanische Mega Kühlschrank war optimal, um bei den warmen Temperaturen ausreichend Getränke kühl zu lagern. Wir haben den Aufenthalt sehr genossen und die nähere Umgebung (Florenz, Lucca und Siena) erkundet. Aber auch einfach nur faul auf der Terrasse liegen war sehr entspannend. Wir haben das Ferienhaus kurzfristig gebucht, da unsere ursprüngliche Reiseplanung durch Corona geplatzt ist. Im Nachhinein aber völlig ok und etwas Besseres wie der Aufenthalt in der Toskana hätte uns nicht passieren können. Vielen Dank noch einmal an Suzy und Ihre Familie. Bleibt alles Gesund, vielleicht kommen wir auch noch einmal wieder. La dolce Vita hat uns sehr gut gefallen!

Wunderbarer Blick, wunderbare Gastgeberin

Ein seit mehr als zwei Jahrzehnten um- und ausgebauter Hof in Bergen der Toskana, eine großartige und zugleich entspannte Gastgeberin mit ihrer mindestens ebenso netten Familie, eine sehr große Wohnung mit zwei Bädern, einer großen Wohnküche und drei Schlafzimmern voller schöner antiker Möbel, ein fantastischer Blick, ein (noch, ändert sich ab 2021) etwas kleiner Pool und nicht zuletzt Kira, die freundlichste Schäferhündin in ganz Italien -- als das findet sich in Suzys Casa Badalamenti. Unbedingt empfehlenswert!

Sehr schönes geräumiges Haus in toller Umgebung

Nette Gastgeber, die sehr hilfreich sind. Die Zimmer sind sehr geräumig, wenn auch, für unser Befinden etwas dunkel. Ein Bad ist sehr groß, das zweite etwas kleiner. Küche und Aufenthaltsraum sehr groß und gemütlich. Auf der Terrasse konnten wir die Morgensonne genießen.

Tolles Domizil in phantastischer Landschaft - supernette Gastgeber

Grandioser Terrassen-Ausblick und sehr, sehr nette Gastgeber, die im Erdgeschoss desselben Hauses wohnen waren die halbe Miete für einen wunderbaren Urlaub. Danke noch einmal für die Gastfreundschaft - grazie mille a Lorenzo, Salvatore, Antonio i Charly! We really enjoyed our stay in your house and the dinner preparation with such a stunning view was just wonderful! Einziges Manko: Zu kleine und schlecht funktionierende Waschmaschine für ein 6-Personen-Haus. Aber wer sich genügend Klamotten mitnimmt, ist hier sehr gut aufgehoben! Empfehlenswert!!!

a wonderful site

We stayed for two weeks in july . Wonderful renovated old farmhouse with flair. Clean, comfortable and well staffed kitchen, old but functional bathrooms Friendly, supportive and caring owners. Thanks to Salvatore and Suzy Wir waren im Juli 09 für zwei Wochen Gäste von Suzy und Salvatore. Wir wurden mit einem Welcome Drink begrüßt. Wir wurden in der Zeit gut und freundlich beraten. Alle wichtigen und auch kleineren Sehenswürdigkeiten sind im Umkreis von 60-90 min zu erreichen (TIP Zug ab Rufina über Florenz erspart in den Touristischen Hauptstädten die Parkplatzsuche, ist bequem und verglichen mit der Deutschen Bahn preiswert) Das Haus ist gut ausgestattet und man merkt es (nicht nur) an den Möbeln, es steckt viel Liebe und Persönlichkeit dahinter Die Küche hat alles was man braucht, auch wenn man gerne selbst kocht (Tip: Salvatore kann auch kochen und tut es, wenn man ihn fragt) Bäder sind alt aber sauber und funktionstüchtig (Kommentar der Kanadier ist unverständlich) Lärm nur vom Hahn, der morgens gerne kräht oder Hunde , die sich auch nachts in der Umgebung schon mal "unterhalten" - eben Landleben Gastgeber sind selbst eine große Familie, die gerne zusammenkommt, man spürt jedoch immer: es wird Rücksicht auf Gäste genommen. Wir sind mit fünf Erwachsenen (2 Generationen) dort gewesen und haben Freiraum für gemeinsame und unterschiedliche Interessen gefunden) Allen, die nicht auf Strandleben aus sind, sondern auf Kultur und Natur kann ich dieses Ferienhaus sehr empfehlen. Wunderschöner Familien-Urlaub

Wir haben gemeinsam mit unserem Sohn (fast 3), meinen Eltern und meiner Oma (86) zwei wunderschöne Wochen im Ferienhaus verbracht. Alles war sehr sauber - nach einer Woche wurden sogar alle Zimmer geputzt, die Handtücher gewaschen und das Bett neu bezogen. Ein toller Service. Die Schlafzimmer hatten große Kleiderschränke, die Küche verfügte über eine gute Ausstattung, die beiden Bäder waren zwar etwas älter, jedoch sauber und funktionell. Schön war, dass es Spielsachen für unseren Sohn gab, so dass er sich gleich zu Hause fühlte und es ihm nicht langweilig wurde. Die gesamte Vermieterfamilie war sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Der ausliegende Informationsordner gab wertvolle Tipps.

Great place, enjoyable stay!

We stayed here with another couple and enjoyed our stay. Lorenzo greeted us upon our arrival and showed us around the house and grounds. He was nice enough to bring us a basket of delightful vegetables from their garden, and we used them all over the week we were there. The road coming up to the property was very bumpy and somewhat challenging, and we had to come up a certain way because the road was closed coming up from the other direction. Once there, however, the view of the Tuscan hills was just beautiful. The house was well-equipped and comfortable but it could definitely use some new furniture as the furniture was a bit shabby. The other property on the grounds was completely updated with new furniture and was beautiful. Overall we enjoyed the place and would recommend it.

Great country like Tuscany farm house with fantastic views

This property fulfilled our dreams of country living in Tuscany. The house was perfect for our 7 night stay. Even when the weather turned cool and rainy, being in the large kitchen with the wood burning fireplace warmed our souls. The hosts were caring and very helpful. The whole experience from their home cooked pizzas and garden fresh vegetables (from their garden), grilling our Florentine steaks, just typing this makes us want to go again.

We had a great stay in september in this spacious home. The hosts were very welcoming (we even got free delicious home-cooked desserts) and advised us on things to do in the area. The kitchen is very well equiped which is great if you like to cook. The swimming pool is a bit small, but refreshing (they told us they are planning a bigger one). Also if you like privacy than maybe this isn't the place for you: there is enough space to sit outside but it's partly shared terrain (with host family and one other appartment). Apart from these small drawbacks, it's a great location: it's quiet but just a 10-minute drive to Rufina train station which takes you to Florence in half an hour. We had a lovely stay.

Découverte Toscana

Endroit idéalement placé pour découvrir la beauté du Toscana. Pas une maison entière mais une appartement ou les propriétaires habitent sur le rez-de-chaussée. Suzy, très gentille et réactive a donné des bonnes conseils ou aller et a resté toujours à notre écoute. Avec un peu de modernisation l’endroit deviendrait top! Merci pour tous!

Mooi en zeer compleet huis met prachtig uitzicht.

Gastvrije verhuurders en heerlijk gegeten bij de eigenaar. Omdat het huis op het terrein staat waar ook de eigenaars wonen is de privacy wat minder. Heerlijke week gehad.

Perfect

We hebben een heel fijn verblijf gehad. De gastvrijheid van Suzy en haar familie is erg groot. Het heeft ons aan niets ontbroken. De pizzales en diner waren perfect verzorgd door Charlie. De ‘tussendoortjes’ van Salvatore: heerlijk. Een mooi huis met fantastisch uitzicht. Een 30-45 min van Florence. Prima te bereiken. Het weggetje naar het huis is niet best. Volgend jaar is het zwembad gebouwd. Reden te meer om nog eens terug te komen.

fantastic place to enjoy the Tuscan countryside

Really nice place and truly great people. the location is just a few min from Rufina and easy to reach, owners are great and we really enjoyed the cooking lesson and pizza baking. the place is really spacious and comfortable, Kids loved their own bedroom, running around and swimming pool. highly recommended and definitely will be back!

Just returned home from a 6 night stay at Casa Bada and everything was perfect! We were 5 adults and had more than enough space. The home is fully stocked with anything and everything you could need. I was able to prepare my family a traditional Sunday Italian dinner in a Tuscan farmhouse! The views are breathtaking. Get some meat and cheese and bottle of wine and sit outside. Supermarket and train station are only about 5 min away. A car is definitely needed to get around the area but I recommend using the train to go back and forth to Florence. There is a great little restaurant up the road Lago Di Vetrice that has great pizza. Another great spot not far for lunch is La Bottega del Mulino. Also has a great little market. I recommend a tour of Castello del Trebbio. Beautiful castle and delicious wine. Suzy can direct you to these places. That brings me to Suzy and her family. Such wonderful people! I can’t say enough about them. The hospitality Suzy and Salvatore extended us was incredible. Charlie and Antonio, Suzy’s sons, are 2 of the most respectful young men you’ll ever meet. We had a meal prepared by them, in their home, and it was delicious. I highly recommend arranging this as it was definitely a stand out experience. We had an amazing vacation in a beautiful place! We’re already talking about going back!

Birthday celebration

We loved every moment of our stay! It was a beautiful setting, comfortable and relaxing! Antonio went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed including taking us to town for groceries. He also gave us the best recommendation for nearby restaurants and wineries AND made arrangements/reservations for wine tastings and the best table at a close by restaurant. We all highly recommend this farmhouse and will return! Especially to eat and Antonio’s new restaurant and next to time well remember to bring home some of their olive oil. PS Suzanne was SO helpful and also went above and beyond as I made the booking, had to reschedule and was always prompt to respond with answers and help! Awesome family!!

Séjour Magnifique et Dépaysement total !!!

Nôtre séjour de 8 jours dans cette propriété a été tout simplement "PARFAIT" !!! De plus, les propriétaires, "charmants" sont sur place, au rez de chaussée et sont ainsi pleinement disponibles pour répondre à toutes nos attentes et demandes... Un grand Merciii à eux pour cette belle escapade au cœur de la Toscane...
