We could choose how many people we wanted to be around. Far enough out of town to get the quiet of the north woods but also close enough to town when you needed something. View from the cabin was breathtaking.

Weekend getaway

We came up for a long weekend in early August. This cabin did not disappoint us in any way. The property was extremely well maintained, cabin was clean and the view was amazing. Some other reviewers complained about spider webs… you’re in the northwoods by a lake there is obviously going to be bugs. Others complained about no WiFi, again you’re in the northwoods, get out and explore. This was by far one of the best experiences we had at a cabin in awhile. The neighbors are friendly, we’ll definitely try to be back again. I could sit here and list all the amenities but I think the owner did a good job. One nice surprise was the horse pit which I haven’t played since I was younger. Also, the beds are super comfortable. Fishing was amazing.

True Up North Experience

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was clean. I was very happy with the location. I was satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This Lakehouse gives a real cabin feel. The porch is the best part of the house. We love sitting at the big table eating breakfast and looking at the lake. The bedrooms are all a good size and we all slept comfortably. It felt quite private from the lake which was essential for us. The big front yard was perfect for family gatherings. We do not like the bathroom. It is old and it feels musty in there. Also we have small children and getting into the lake was difficult for them. We wished there was stairs or ladder by the shoreline, not end of the dock. But for the price, this place is wonderful. We rented it twice.

Cute cottage, but needs help!

Rating Details: The property manager was adequately helpful. The vacation rental was clean. I was very happy with the location. I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The location and view were great. But stove was broken with a note from housekeeping saying that maintenance had been notified. No one showed to fix. First floor bedroom had a broken/missing shade. Kitchen cupboard containing pots and pans had missing knob so needed a knife to pry open every time we cooked.Only one rubber spatula was supplied and it was ripped and not usable. Screen windows in patio were nice but dirty with spider webs and debris when opened. No WiFi available although was stated to be available in brochure. Water was very hard with iron. You need to bring drinking and cooking water. Apparent water softener that had previously broken, never replaced. Beds and sheets were nice.

Consider carefully

The pros: 1) its a great location. Beautiful, quiet, spacious, right on the lake. We saw squirrels, chipmunks, deer, and even a couple bald eagles on the property. 2) Its a hundred year old house with a lot of charm. Huge wraparound porch, oversized trim, attractive paint job, etc. 3) it was quite clean and had a number of extra conveniences. The outside picnic table, fire pit, and paddle boat were all put to good use. The cons: 1) its a hundred year old house with tiny rooms and some very awkward furnishings. 2) the only bathroom desperately needs gutted. The toilet is tiny and riddled with cracks that worried me. The shower is jerry-rigged, claustrophobic, and disgusting. The sink is little better, and the water tastes like you're licking shale. 3) The appliances are from the Carter administration and the dishes (what few there are) look older still. There was only one decent glass in the place, so we bought some at the Dollar Tree (you're welcome). 4) the wifi never worked and even though we called about it we never heard back and they never fixed it. We paid a princely sum to rent the place for a week and it really seems like they are not spending any of that money on upkeep. If you're OK with a very dated property to get the location, then go for it.

No internet, fireplace unusable, pipes leaked under sink

They were very responsive but clearly didn’t have a fireplace that worked, flue broken and whole house was in smoke with fire alarms going off till we’ll after midnight, no fire possible and no fix while there. Pipes all loose and flooded kitchen, fixed while we were there. No internet and poor communication regarding getting it up and going and we had non. The indoor fireplace is why we booked it and because of internet. We got a night free but not good at all. It’s a wonderful place, to bad it’s not managed better. I loved location, bed, etc but would not go back for these reasons. Also cobwebs in upstairs bedrooms and looked like they needed a hood cleaning. We didn’t sleep in those rooms.

Our first vacation in a long time

Most of the time we were just relaxing and enjoying the peace and solitude. It was a very rejuvenating experience. Besides being on the water, we also took many walks. It brought us both a sense of tranquility to be up in the Northwoods again. We would recommend this location for anyone seeking to get away from their stressful life for a while.

The TV did not work. We think the batteries are dead. The instructions on how to use the TV should be placed next to the remotes, but it didn't help us because we couldn't get the TV to turn on. The outside light burned out on the first night, so that should be replaced. The rugs in the place should be updated.

Nice but not great

Chairs were broken and had jagged edges. Replacements were promised on day 1 but did not arrive until day 3 or 4. Satellite TV did not work. Rental manager stated that repair tech would be out, but that we the guests needed to be there. Tech never showed and then Rental manager found out that homeowner had a different time schedueb. Storm drain missing grate/cover in the basement by the washer and dryer. Girlfriend stepped into the hole and banged up her shin. The rest of the property and stay was as advertised.

Great spot on Big St Germain

Disappointing Stay

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We really wanted to love this property, but there were just too many issues with it, and a lack of help from the management staff. Location was great, and the property had potential. We were pretty frustrated with the amount of issues we had upon arrival and during our stay.- The house did not appear to be ready for us. It was dusty, there was a pile of magazines on the floor, the tv/direct tv box were completely disconnected. We figured the quick turnaround of our reservation might have been the cause, and were completely fine dealing with this.- There was a leak under the kitchen sink. My husband addressed and tightened pipes.-The chairs for the fire pit were broken. This was a bummer as we wanted to sit around the fire nightly, and would have brought our own. We asked for replacement chairs, but didn't get them.- Half way through our trip, there was an issue with the water softener. It started spraying water all over the basement, so we had to turn off. We called the management company, they said they would call maintenance. Never showed up. Unfiltered iron water for half the trip.- The tv and internet service was disconnected for the entire trip. Initially, the manager said they were on top of things. A service tech was scheduled to come out mid trip. They never showed up. After that, we could not get in touch with the manager. When we were not getting any response back from the management company, my husband spent over an hour on the phone trying to get the service turned on himself. Not much to do in the evenings when you can't sit around a fire or watch tv. All issues were reported in a timely fashion. The management company gave us insurance that things would be addressed, yet there seemed to be a lack of immediacy to fix any of the above. Was pretty disappointed about everything. Still waiting to hear back from management to make things right for the services unrendered.

Older Home on a an AWESOME property!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The location of this property was excellent. Not far from Minocqua where we like to hang out. The downstairs is a small kitchen, bathroom, bedroom, living room and huge 3 season porch. Upstairs is 2 bedrooms with a twin bed at the top of the landing. The downstairs has a/c and upstairs has a a/c unit in the window that cooled off the upstairs very well. The bathroom is quite old and the clawfoot tub would be hard for anyone older to get in and out of, tiny sink, it could use a some updating. The land is BEAUTIFUL, we spent most of our time outside enjoying the lakeview. Great place to stay but my kids refused to shower in the bathroom. They found it too old & maybe a little creepy. Other than that it was great.

Our first vacation in a long time

Rating Details: The property manager was more than helpful. The vacation rental was very clean. I was very happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We had a wonderful in on the lake. We rented a pontoon boat and went out in it every day. Most of the time we were just relaxing and enjoying the peace and solitude. It was a very rejuvenating experience. Besides being on the water, we also took many walks. It brought us both a sense of tranquility to be up in the Northwoods again. We would recommend this location for anyone seeking to get away from their stressful life for a while.

Memorial Weekend

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The house and property were overall great and we enjoyed our stay. The wireless Internet did not work for anyone in our group. The TV did not work. We think the batteries are dead. The instructions on how to use the TV should be placed next to the remotes, but it didn't help us because we couldn't get the TV to turn on. The outside light burned out on the first night, so that should be replaced. The rugs in the place should be updated.

Rating Details: The property manager was somewhat unhelpful. The vacation rental was somewhat dirty. I was very happy with the location. I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The cottage is really cool, just like the pictures, however the bathroom is atrocious and there is an odor rising from a faulty drain trap on the bathtub. If the bathroom were fixed, this place would be perfect. It's on a beautiful lake and a picturesque setting deep in the Northwoods. Rent it if you don't mind a really scuzzy bathroom.

Relaxing stay at BJs

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was very clean. I was very happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We have stayed at BJs 3 or 4 times. We love how cozy and quaint it is. It is old and has awesome woodwork and a great fireplace. The wraparound enclosed porch has a wonderful view of the lake and wildlife. We will plan to stay here agsin.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The porch sells this place. We lived in and on the porch. The rest of the house is rather old and out dated. It is functional but not convenient. The kitchen is very small. The tub/shower is difficult to get in and out of without help from someone else. I think the house would be a challenge for a family. The rooms are not very well lit. Overall average.
