Entrance to the first floor with a large and bright living area with sofa for single or double bed, full and well equipped kitchen, access to the upper floor through cast iron spiral staircase. The upper floor consists of a double bedroom and a bathroom with shower. Large garden with relaxation areas with tables and chairs for eating outside .Wide and convenient car park.

Located on the hills of the first countryside of Romagna, at 1 km from the medieval village of Dozza and 25 km from Bologna, Villa Calanco Country House is an elegant eighteenth-century country house set in a parkland with ancient trees and a farm of more than 3 hectares. The structure has just been completely renovated by the owners who have personally taken care of the details with particular care and with full respect of its history.The apartments has been carefully restored and furnished, which keep intact the charm of the rural tradition of Romagna, like the ancient terracotta, wood, raftered ceiling , antique doors and furniture, giving life to a sober and elegant style that blends the modern comforts.The comfortable and privileged geographical position allows to reach cities rich in history and art as Bologna ( 25 km), Ravenna (52 km), Ferrara (74 km), Imola ( 7 km), Faenza ( 22 km), Brisighella ( 32km) and Dozza (1 km), one of the most beautiful villages in Italy.

Among the main courses meat on the grill, as mutton and sausage. Everything always accompanied by the famous local wines.

A beautiful estate in the Apenine foothills offering just 4 nice, well-equiped and very clean apartments. Near the medieval village of Dozza with its famous wall-paintings. Perfect for day-trips to Ravenna and Bologna. Franco Giaconia is a very kind host. We will certainly visit again!

Villa Calanco

In June we spent a week in apartment Anna. We enjoyed our stay very much, the house and surrounding gardens are quite beautiful and the swimming pool was convenient during a hot day. The apartment was big enough for the two of us and had all the necessary kitchenware and services. The town of Dozza is at walking distance and has several good restaurants. Following a tip of our host Franco we took the train in Castel San Pietro Terme to the city of Bologna which we liked very well. Compliments to Franco and his family who restored this beautiful villa and provide an excellent service overall. Recommended if you want to visit this part of Emila Romagna.

Nice Getaway

Nice appartement located in a villa along a country road. We have not spent time at that place except for sleeping as we were busy to visit Bologna, Auto d’Epoca and so on joining also some friends. The Villa is conveniently located to visit the main cities of Modena, Bologna, seaside cities like Ravenna, Rimini and also Ferrara. Train station from Imola is also perfect to reach Bologna. The gentle welcome or act of kindness from our owner has been greatly appreciated. Indeed we have been given a bottle of local white wine upon arrival. A nice place to discover !

A great week in Villa Calanco, Dozza

We have spent a week at Villa Calanco. A nice and quiet place close to Bologna and the highway. A beautiful garden surrounds the Villa. We stayed in apartment Quintino. The whole place is recently restored and it looks beautiful. Several cities are close: Imola, Ferrara, Modena, Venice, Florence, San Marino, Ravenna and of course Dozza with some nice restaurants. I can write a whole review but please look at the other reviews everybody is very satisfied and I can only agree to all those positive reviews. A peaceful experience in the Emilia Romagna!

The Villa Calanco is a marvelous property and estate near Bologna. We stayed in the Quintino apartment for eight nights, and enjoyed four of those nights with another couple. This charming apartment has all of the necessary amenities, and there are lovely outdoor tables and a barbecue as well. Franco and his wife are charming hosts and both are extremely gracious. Parking is plentiful, and the owners' goats and chickens provide a lively diversion. Villa Calanco is near one of the most charming medieval hill towns that we have ever seen in Italy. The villa provides a convenient base for visiting other towns along the Via Emilia - Imola, Brisighella, Faenza - as well as Ravenna and Ferrara.

The Anna Apartment was just as expected - a really rustic apartment, modernised with a decent bathroom suite, internet and a TV. (I must emphasise the word 'rustic'. We loved it but if you want ultra modern then Apartment Anna is definitely not for you!)Checkin could'nt have been easier. Franco greeted us at the agreed time, completed the paperwork in a few minutes and then walked us through the apartment and his estate including the swimming pool and numerous outside tables and barbecue facilities.Inside there is an open plan kitchen / living room with a spiral staircase to the upper floor with its double bedroom, bathroom and washing maching/utility area. There are aircon units in the living room and bedroom. The estate is on the outskirts of Dozza, a lovely village that's about a 25 minute walk away. It has lots of cafes and restaurants but no supermarket. However there's an Aldi and a Lidl in Imola, a 10 minute drive away. It's a 30 minute drive to Bologna and we managed a day trip to Venice (via train from Bologna) with no difficulty. Rimini, on the Adriatic Coast, is about a hour's drive along the motorway or closer to two hours on the old country roads.

Schöne, ruhige Anlage

Wir sind außerhalb der Saison gereist und es war sehr schön. Die Anlage ist groß und hübsch gestaltet. Die Wohnung war ausreichend für 3 Personen. Schön war der Willkommens Wein aus eigener Herstellung. Einzig die Sauberkeit des Bodens und das quietschen jeder Tür, war etwas, was uns nicht gefallen hat.

Schöne Lage mit traumhaften Sonnenaufgängen

Schönes Haus - nette Vermieter!

Das Haus ist einfach, aber sehr sauber und sehr praktisch eingerichtet, alles da was man braucht. Der Vermieter ist ein sehr freundlicher Mann und lässt einen sich willkommen fühlen! Ein schöner Gartensitzplatz, die Lage des Hauses ist nah an Bologna und ideal für Ausflüge in die Gegend. Ganz herzlichen Dank!!!

Wunderschöne Anlage, nette Gastgeber

Wir haben eine Woche mit unseren beiden Kleinkindern hier verbracht. Das Anwesen ist sehr schön. Franco hat es mir viel Liebe zum Detail selbst renoviert. Die Kinder liebten den Pool und die Ziegen und Hühner, die wir jeden Tag gefüttert haben. Franco und Teresa sind sehr nette Gastgeber, die weiterhelfen, wenn man Fragen hat oder etwas benötigt aber auch den nötigen Abstand waren wenn man einfach nur die wunderbare Aussicht gebießeb möchte. Sehr angenehm! Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt und würden auf jeden Fall wiederkommen. Sehr empfehlenswert!

wunderbares Anwesen

Die 'Villa Calanco' ist ein wundervolles, gepflegtes Anwesen auf einem parkähnlichen Grundstück und absolut empfehlenswert. Es ist verkehrsgünstig, aber ruhig gelegen. Der Vermieter spricht gut English und ist sehr freundlich, jederzeit hilfsbereit, aber zugleich angenehm zurückhaltend. Durch die Größe des Anwesens kann man auch bei Belegung aller Ferienwohnungen ruhige, entspannte Tage genießen. Unsere Wohnung (Quintino) ist gut ausgestattet und rustikal eingerichtet. Trotz des heißen Wetters war es durch das alte Steingemäuer angenehm kühl (die installierte Klimaanlage haben wir gar nicht benötigt). Der Pool ist angenehm groß und drumherum gibt es viel Platz zum Spielen für Kinder. Insgesamt haben wir (eine Familie mit 2 Kindern) eine wunderschöne Woche in Dozza verbracht.

Perfekter Urlaub in der Emilia Romagna

Giuseppe C. Wir waren eine Woche in der Wohnung Quintino und fühlten uns gleich sehr wohl. Die Wohnung war sauber, groß und wie beschrieben. Das Grundstück sehr gepflegt und weiträumig. Die Eigentümer sind sehr freundlich, hilfsbereit und sehr diskret. Frühstückseier und Wein kann man im Eingangsbereich zu den anderen Wohnungen auf Vertrauensbasis entnehmen, man trägt sich in eine Liste ein und man bezahlt es am Ende des Aufenthalts. Nach Dozza mit seinen Wandmalereien und Restaurants sind es nur wenige Minuten, zu empfehlen die Piccola Osteria de Borgo. Ausflüge haben wir unternommen nach Bologna, Ferrarimuseum Maranello. Ducatiwerksbesichtigung in Bologna, Ravenna und Imola. Uns hat es sehr gut in der Villa Calanco gefallen und werden wieder kommen. Grazie Franco ci rivediamo di sicuro.

Perfecte locatie om omgeving te ontdekken

Geweldig appartement met zeer uitgebreide inventaris. Airco was bijzonder prettig. Mooie tuin. Enige nadeel was de dagelijkse ‘aanval’ van kleine venijnig stekende muggetjes diersoorten zorgen dat we aan het begin van de avond graag naar binnen gingen. Verder perfect!

Idyllisk, roligt og autentisk

En skøn og autentisk oplevelse. Natur, bolig og omgivelser går op i en højere enhed. Der var altid god plads ved poolen, skønne oaser med læ og skygge. Hyggelig indrettet lejlighed, med alle fornødenheder. Poolområdet i særklasse med private solstråle. I det nærliggende områder er der en del vingårde, hvor de lokale specialiteter kan smages.

Beautiful property where you can in peace enjoy your holidays. A lot of space, where kids can play. We also enjoyed swimmingpool on hot days. The villa itself is located on a place, from where you can explore cities like Bologna, Ravenna, Rimini, state of San Marino, Mirabilandia for kids, and also Pisa in wihtin day reach with a car. Bellissimo apartment!

My family and I stayed for 6 nights in Franco's and Teresa's apartment, Quintino. It was elegantly appointed, spacious, had two big bedrooms, bathroom, lovely salon, and kitchen that had everything you would need to prepare your meals. It has a beautiful area outside with tables and chairs where we enjoyed our coffee and a few dinners. The weather was warm, so we enjoyed the pool every evening. The hillsides are picturesque, and our children enjoyed feeding the goats and chickens. Dozza is in the country, but close proximity to the highway, so it was easy to travel to different cities for the day. We took a cooking class with Teresa and Antonio where we learned how to make homemade pasta, two fantastic sauces, and then enjoyed them in the family dining room. Villa Calanco is a country house that we all dream we owned. We hope to return one day in the future. We highly recommend this country experience.

Nous venons de rentrer enchantés de notre séjour à la Villa Calanco. Nous avions loué l'appartement Quintino en rez de chaussée avec nos deux fils (12 et 15 ans). L'endroit est parfait: au calme dans une superbe propriété, un appartement très fonctionnel et très joliment décoré; une belle vue, une piscine, des animaux. Beaucoup de charme. On s'y sent très bien. La petite ville de Dozza, tout à côté, est très bien desservie , pas loin de l'autoroute, pour aller admirer les beautés de Bologne , Ferrara ou Ravenne. Il y a très jolies petites villes à proximité aussi: Brisghella, Imola, Castel Pietro Terme où il fait bon se balader. Que demander de plus? Recommandé très chaleureusement!

Franco was born in Tuscany and has known Teresa on a trip to Africa. Both are travel enthusiasts.
In 1999, Franco, Teresa, and the kids Antonio and Anna from Tuscany are transfered in Dozza.
Franco immediately was fascinated by Villa Calanco, dwelling which since 1700 has been owned by the family of Teresa
As a restorer has personally coordinated and executed many of the restoration works that have lasted over 10 years.
Teresa, graduate in history, works at the State Archives of Imola.
Antonio is an architect and works in a technical office in Imola and Anna study at the University of Bologna.
