Located on the hills of the first countryside of Romagna, at 1 km from the medieval village of Dozza and 25 km from Bologna, Villa Calanco Country House is an elegant eighteenth-century country house set in a parkland with ancient trees and a farm of more than 3 hectares. The structure has just been completely renovated by the owners who have personally taken care of the details with particular care and with full respect of its history.The apartments has been carefully restored and furnished, which keep intact the charm of the rural tradition of Romagna, like the ancient terracotta, wood, raftered ceiling , antique doors and furniture, giving life to a sober and elegant style that blends the modern comforts.The comfortable and privileged geographical position allows to reach cities rich in history and art as Bologna ( 25 km), Ravenna (52 km), Ferrara (74 km), Imola ( 7 km), Faenza ( 22 km), Brisighella ( 32km) and Dozza (1 km), one of the most beautiful villages in Italy.

Great place, great location

This is a lovely place, the photos are accurate, the place is clean and well-maintained and has everything you need for a vacation. It is close to the autostrada as well as a train station and perfect for day trips (need a car here). Franco, the owner, lives on the property and is consistently around for help and good advice. Dozza is very near by and is a charming town with good restaurants.

Relaxing retreat

This is a beautiful, peaceful property ripe for relaxation. Well managed and maintained, it’s a calm location with thoughtful touches. The beds were notably comfortable, the pool was lovely and included deck chairs equipped with cell chargers, and there’s plenty of wine at the ready. Plus Dozza is a charmer with great food, Imola is right there to enjoy the track, and the host family even offers a tremendously useful and thoughtful cooking class and dinner. Go and enjoy!

Loved Dozza!

Spent a week in apartment Natalia. The position was excellent to explore the region and the little town of Dozza was a delight. Franco was friendly, available and informative. The pool was lovely and so needed in the intense heat. We loved the tomatoes and figs Franco left from his garden. A wonderful stay in a beautiful country home.

Period furniture in quiet location

The building has been sensitively adapted and the flats lovingly furnished with period furniture and fixtures. Nonetheless, the heating is excellent and everything works properly: the knives are even sharp. The pictures are accurate, the location is quiet, there are good hourly trains to Bologna from Castel S. Pietro terme. The landlord is very friendly and helpful. We will come again.

Lovely country home in Dozza near Imola

This unit is full of charm. Beautifully renovated and a fully equipped on lovely grounds, conveniently located near Imola and the town of Dozza. We are just sorry we didn't have more time to enjoy the property and nice pool. We had a good bottle of wine waiting for us at our arrival; it was a nice touch. Dazzling Dozza

Villa Calanco was a perfect home base for visiting the Emilia-Romagna. The apartment was charming, cozy and well equipped. We loved being able to buy wine from the honor system stash in the entry hall. At $5 euro a bottle it was a steal. The property is beautiful and very quiet with a swimming pool for those hot days. The small village of Dozza 1.5 KM away is a jewel, The town walls are painted by artists displaying high quality art work. I highly recommend Villa Calanco.

Beautiful Country Home

Our stay at Villa Calanco was all we expected and more! The apartment was clean and beautifully appointed with everything needed for a comfortable stay. Franco and his family were wonderful hosts and assisted us when we had questions about the area. We loved the welcome bottle of wine from the region and the ability to enjoy additional bottles for 5 Euros on the honor system. Communication with Franco was prompt and easy as was the check in and out process. We enjoyed the property grounds and sitting areas where you could take a break and relax. The town of Dozza was a friendly and we loved getting up and going to town for a coffee and visiting the castle. Would definitely recommend and stay again.

Vacation Country Home near Dozza, Italy

We really enjoyed our stay at the country home. It is a lovely property and Franco was as helpful as could be. We explored the nearby town of Dozza, with its artistically painted walls and the castle. We had several meals at the local Tratoria there, which were wonderful. The setting for the country house is beautiful. Out the windows of the apartment were views of lovely hillsides and two playful goats. We had the benefit of country that was close to city. A winning combination. We also visited nearby Faenza which is well known for its distinctive ceramics. The apartment was just the right size for us, the shower was great and the bed very comfortable. What more could we ask for? We hope to return again and stay for a longer period of time.

Our excellent stay at Villa Calanco

We stayed at Villa Calanco to attend a show in Bologna. We didn't want to stay in the city because it is very expensive and the traffic is terrible, so we decided to stay outside of Bologna. Villa Calanco ended up being closer than we thought to Bologna, only 25-35 minutes depending on traffic. I wish we could have had more time to stay, or that we could come back on a holiday. The apartments are very modern and very well equipped. A comparably priced hotel would have been half the size, and without any of the amenities that Villa Calanco had. On the website, the photos look very nice, but sometimes photos on websites can be misleading because they only take pictures of the nice features. We were very pleasantly surprised to find that everything was better than the pictures, and the pictures couldn't do justice to the overall comfortable environment of the apartments. Everything is new, clean and spacious. I emphasize spacious because the apartment itself is very big, especially compared to other European hotels, and because the property and the surrounding land is so big as well. For as good as the apartment is, the hospitality is even better. We weren't able to meet the entire family, but Franco is a wonderful person. When our car broke down, he took time to take us to the train station and he offered to take us to Bologna if we couldn't get the car fixed. He knows the area very well and is full of knowledge you make your stay more comfortable. Next year, we are planning on staying there again.

Perfektes Landhaus

Wir haben in der Ferienwohnung Antonio 14 Tage Sommerurlaub verbracht. Das Landhaus ist urig und gleichzeitig komfortabel. Die Gartenanlage ist sehr schön (inkl. hauseigenem kleinen Streichelzoo), diversen gemĂŒtlichen Sitzmöglichkeiten fĂŒr die Mahlzeiten im Freien sowie einem nagelneuen Pool mit Liegen mit tollem Landschaftsblick. Die Lage ist fĂŒr Autofahrer ausgesprochen gĂŒnstig, weil von hier (trotz lĂ€ndlicher Idylle) die Anbindung an grĂ¶ĂŸere StĂ€dte (Bologna, Imola) sehr gut ist und auch die Fahrt an die Adria kein Problem darstellt. Franco und seine Familie sind tolle, aufmerksame, freundliche und hilfsbereite Gastgeber!

Wunderbare Anlage, sehr nette Gastgeber

Wir haben eine Woche mit unseren beiden Kleinkindern hier verbracht. Das Anwesen ist sehr schön. Franco hat es mir viel Liebe zum Detail selbst renoviert. Die Kinder liebten den Pool und die Ziegen und HĂŒhner, die wir jeden Tag gefĂŒttert haben. Franco und Teresa sind sehr nette Gastgeber, die weiterhelfen, wenn man Fragen hat oder etwas benötigt aber auch den nötigen Abstand waren wenn man einfach nur die wunderbare Aussicht gebießen möchte. Sehr angenehm! Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefĂŒhlt und wĂŒrden auf jeden Fall wiederkommen. Sehr empfehlenswert!

This felt like a quintessentially traditional, Romagna farmhouse. Renovated authentically, even in the kitchen and bathroom where authentic hardware and furniture were blended with the modern amenities. Owner-managet Franco was very pleasant to work with and a font of information. Large rooms, high ceilings, comfortable even on hot days. Beautiful, Cozy Apartment Central to Romagna Sites

We spent a wonderful week in Apartment Natalia just outside Dozza. The grounds of Villa Calanco are spacious and offer beautiful views of the surrounding countryside, and yet the town of Dozza and its restaurants are within walking distance. From this location, most of the sites in Romagna are less than an hour by car, which makes for easy day trips. Communication with our host Franco was extremely easy, as he responded very promptly to all inquiries. All in all, a delightful stay in a beautiful property!

Great place to stay in Emilia-Romagna

We had a fantastic stay here in August. If you are looking for an easy, comfortable and relaxing place to stay, I would recommend it very highly, The house is easy to reach from Bologna airport and is nice and tranquil, even though you are a short driving distance to supermarkets and shops nearby. There is a good choice of restaurants in the lovely town of Dozza and nearby and these are in easy walking distance (1.5km or so). The apartment is very comfortable and mostly well equipped and the pool is large and peaceful. We were lucky to stay almnost with the place to ourselves, with the Geese, Goats and Chickens for company. Franco and family made us very wlecome and the local guides and other information were all very useful. Very much recommend to anyone looking for somewhere to stay in this region of Italy.

Merci à Franco pour son excellent accueil. Nous avons passé de trÚs bonnes vacances alternant les visites et le repos au bord de la magnifique piscine. Le jardin est splendide. C'est une adresse que je conseille vivement!

Franco was born in Tuscany and has known Teresa on a trip to Africa. Both are travel enthusiasts.
In 1999, Franco, Teresa, and the kids Antonio and Anna from Tuscany are transfered in Dozza.
Franco immediately was fascinated by Villa Calanco, dwelling which since 1700 has been owned by the family of Teresa
As a restorer has personally coordinated and executed many of the restoration works that have lasted over 10 years.
Teresa, graduate in history, works at the State Archives of Imola.
Antonio is an architect and works in a technical office in Imola and Anna study at the University of Bologna.
