We enjoyed our stay at Pono Kai Resort J201. We loved how close we were to the water. We watched the sunrise every morning. Also a close walk to town to get coffee or a bite to eat. We only used the pool once but it was very clean. The resort is well kept and beautiful. The bed and bedding was comfortable and the kitchen had pretty much everything we needed.

This is a great resort to stay at, but this particular building (J) is rather close to the Hwy and traffic noise. The bedroom is closest to the noise so I slept on the couch. Otherwise this unit was fine if you don’t mind the accompanying loud music and noisy engines even during the day.

We love this location as it is conveniently located near downtown Kapaa, the restaurants and beach. We used the pedestrian and bike path along the coast for morning walks. We appreciated the elevator to the second floor. Management was very responsive when had issue with television.

Clean and convenient to restaurants
Overall, a good value but a bit dated. Small changes could make a difference such as raising the height of the bathroom mirror for moderately tall people (5’10 &5’11”) so you don’t have to bend over to see yourself. The Fujitsu compressor on the lanai is loud. The bed could use a pillow top for added comfort and new bed pillows would be very appreciated.

The location of the complex is good…on the beach, and close to good restaurants & grocery stores. Unfortunately , the condo is quite old and very dated. It needs a complete gutting and renovation. It also was not very clean. There is black mold in the bathroom & kitchen. The paint is peeling, & the lighting is terrible - very dim. We differ with previous reviews though, as we thought the bed was very comfortable. The property manager was good at responding and addressed a few issues while we were there. Additionally, the pool was closed for our entire stay. We had the beach for sunbathing, but it is not a swimming beach. We went to both Poipu & Hanalei, which we enjoyed immensely. We provided that property manager with many improvement opportunities. I truly hope that they take them to heart, as this condo is a diamond in the rough.

From the start of your stay, we responded promptly to your concerns and offered the option to cancel with a refund if the condo did not meet your expectations; you chose to continue your stay.
During your visit, we promptly delivered the larger wine glasses and garlic press you requested, in addition to the standard wine glasses already provided. As an oceanfront rental, minor paint wear and surface rust can occur due to salt air; touch-ups have been scheduled and items are maintained or replaced as needed.
Cleanliness is extremely important to us. No mold was found during inspection, and the door was cleaned of the red dirt common to the area. Had mold been reported during your stay, it would have been addressed immediately. We will continue to reinspect to ensure standards are met.
The temporary pool closure was managed by the HOA and was clearly disclosed at the top of the listing prior to booking so guests could make an informed decision.
We appreciate the feedback and will continue to improve the condo for future guests.

This was the perfect accommodation for our visit to Kaua'i. It was perfectly situated between the places we wanted to visit. The listing photos were accurate and it had everything we needed for our stay. The check in and check out instructions were clear and easy to follow. We were really happy that the place had AC. The dishwasher did have a slight smell, but I am more sensitive to smells than most. We would love to stay here again the next time we visit the island!
