Guests staying for an extended period, such as your 11-night visit, should plan to replenish consumable items as needed; there is a grocery store conveniently located on the island. The pool is professionally serviced weekly, though storms, wind, and other coastal weather can affect its condition between cleanings. We’re glad you enjoyed the home overall, so a three-star rating based primarily on starter supplies and weather-related pool conditions is disappointing. We’re glad to hear the home worked well for your group and that the layout, backyard, and grill made for a great weekend together. I do want to address the concerns you mentioned, and offer some context for future guests who may read your note. What you experienced in the primary bedroom was mildew, not mold. In our climate, mildew can spring up very quickly—especially when exterior doors are left open while the air conditioning is running. Our team responded right away and treated the area, though the ceiling patch unfortunately requires a full dry-out. Regarding the pool: it was serviced earlier in the week, but even a short coastal storm will undo a perfectly clean pool in minutes. When you reached out, we contacted the pool company again, but sometimes they can’t get back out the same day as everyone is calling for the same reason. We’re sorry it wasn’t as pristine as you expected on arrival. As for the bug—yes, this is the Lowcountry, and our warm, humid environment means the occasional critter will sneak inside no matter how often a home is treated. We know it’s unpleasant to find one in the wrong place at the wrong time, and we understand the reaction. We appreciate your feedback and are glad the home still provided a good gathering spot for your weekend. We’ll continue tightening up the maintenance and communication pieces to make sure guests always walk into the best possible experience. Thanks again for staying with us.
