'Kardinia' Holiday Home is nestled between native Eucalypt and within walking distance to beautiful Dalpura Beach and boat ramp, the walk takes me approximately 7-10 minutes. Canoe and Kayak launch point, off Oomool St/ Golden Sands Boulevard, is a 5-minute walk in the opposite direction and is an excellent spot to throw out the crab pot. BTW, the view of Straddy is sensational.
Kardinia Holiday Home is a charming, no-fuss 3-bedroom Aussie beach cottage with a fresh, modern coastal feel. It’s the perfect spot for those who love a relaxed island getaway without any of the frills.
The home includes a detached sleep-out with a TV, ceiling fans, and air conditioning. The lounge also features air conditioning, and every room is equipped with ceiling fans to ensure a comfortable environment. Bedroom 2 features a bunk bed with a pull-out trundle, making it great for families.
Kardinia isn’t about high-end finishes or resort luxury, it’s a simple, easy-going holiday home designed for those who want to kick back, soak up the relaxed island vibe, and enjoy the beachy lifestyle at their own pace.
Sensor lights illuminate key areas outside, and smoke alarms are professionally installed and compliant, so you can sleep peacefully.
Waking up to the dawn chorus of bird song is peaceful and calming and allows you to get in sync and adapt to the pace of nature. In the evening, right on happy hour, the Curlews come to visit. An Island holiday is just what's needed to reconnect and reset. It's almost hard to believe that you are only an hour and a half away from Brisbane City and twenty minutes by Sealink Ferry to Victoria Point shopping, restaurants and cinemas. By the way, don't forget your Go Card, it's only fifty cents each way.
Dalpura Beach is a wonderful destination for families and those looking to enjoy water activities. With kayaks available on request for guests, it's a great spot for adventure enthusiasts. For a more relaxed experience, floating on an inflatable swim ring while possibly sipping wine from your portable glass (yes, it's a thing) is a perfect way to relax and enjoy the ambience. The beach's stunning sunsets, along with its calm, shallow waters, make it ideal for young children and families looking to enjoy a day at the beach.
Additionally, Pats Park nearby provides enclosed swimming areas and BBQ facilities, making it a great option for family gatherings or picnics. Whether you prefer engaging in water sports or simply relaxing by the shore, this area has something for everyone.
Fishing and crabbing are part of Island life, so don't forget your yabby pump, fishing rod and head down to the jetty.
'Kardinia' is close to the Club Macleay, the Island Bowls Club and Bistro. Visit and take in the sunsets, which are amazing (ring the club to ask about the courtesy bus). Cafes, restaurants and my favourite 8th Sense Kitchen for a Gelato and more are dotted around the Island and give dining out a distinctive setting. If Golf is your thing, Macleay Island offers this along with a club restaurant. There are several clubs and sports clubs on the island, ranging from sailing at Tingara Boat Club to Yoga and Ukulele. Lions Markets on Macleay Island have been running for many years and are held on the first Saturday of every month, except January (weather permitting). Visit Macleay Island Progress Association, which provides an outlet for local creative arts and marketing. The hall supports educational, recreational and social activities and is a venue for creative arts events. Saturday morning for fresh fruit, vegetables and meat. The Island has a new Art Gallery, MIAC, displaying the talent of local artists. (:

The name Kardinia means “morning” or “new beginning” – and to me, it says it all. This is a place to relax, unwind, and enjoy the gentle rhythm of island life.
