Set high above Hekerua Bay, Atatū Clifftop by Stay Waiheke delivers calm, modern coastal living with panoramic sea views, architectural simplicity, and space for up to six adults.
The Space:
Designed by Fearon Hay Architects, Atatū Clifftop is a private architectural home set high above Hekerua Bay, with wide sea views, strong indoor-outdoor flow, and a layout designed for relaxed adult stays.
The main living area is open plan and light-filled, with floor-to-ceiling glass drawing the view into the home. The lounge, dining area, and kitchen sit together in one generous shared space, making it easy for guests to cook, eat, relax, and spend time together without feeling separated. Clean architectural lines, natural light, timber detailing, and an open fire give the home a calm, understated luxury feel rather than a formal or overly polished one.
The kitchen is well equipped for holiday cooking and entertaining, with quality appliances, generous bench space, and direct connection to the dining and outdoor areas. It works just as well for slow breakfasts and casual grazing as it does for long lunches or evenings in.
Large sliding doors open from the main living space to the deck, where the home really takes advantage of its clifftop position. The infinity pool sits at the edge of the outlook, with loungers positioned for long afternoons in the sun. There is also an outdoor fireplace, creating a sheltered evening spot to sit, talk, and watch the light change over the bay.
The home sleeps up to six adults across three bedrooms. The master suite has a super-king bed, opens to ocean views, and includes its own ensuite. The second bedroom has a king bed and a quieter outlook toward native bush. The third bedroom has twin beds, making it well suited to friends or guests who prefer separate beds.
There are two full bathrooms and one powder room, giving the house a comfortable layout for couples, friends, or adult family groups travelling together.
Atatū Clifftop is best suited to guests looking for privacy, views, architectural design, and a peaceful Waiheke base close to Oneroa, beaches, vineyards, and island dining.

The Neighborhood:
Atatū Clifftop sits above Hekerua Bay in a quiet, elevated pocket surrounded by native bush and sea views. The setting feels private and removed, yet Oneroa Village is only a short drive away, making it easy to access cafés, shops, and dining while returning to a calm base at the end of the day.
Oneroa Beach is just minutes away and works well for swimming, paddleboarding, or an easy walk along the sand in the early morning or evening. The bay is sheltered and popular year round, offering a relaxed alternative to busier beaches further east.
For breakfast and coffee, Wai Kitchen is known for daytime plates and views over Oneroa Bay, while Akito Café offers a modern, plant focused menu and consistently good coffee. Lunch options in and around the village include The Ocean View Kitchen and Bar for casual daytime meals and drinks, and Solar Eating House, which offers an all day menu in a relaxed garden setting.
Dinner options are varied and close by. Fenice is a long standing favourite for Italian classics in the heart of Oneroa, while The Courtyard offers a cosy garden bar and dinner setting tucked just off the main strip.
Several of Waiheke’s best known vineyards are a short drive away. Mudbrick Vineyard offers bistro dining, tastings, and views across the Hauraki Gulf, while Cable Bay Vineyards is known for shared plates, modern dining, and sunset outlooks. The Heke is also nearby, combining wood fired mains, craft beer brewed onsite, and a lively outdoor garden bar.
Getting Around:
The nearest bus stop is about a six-minute walk from the property, with routes linking directly to Oneroa, Onetangi, Palm Beach, and the Matiatia Ferry Terminal. Buses also stop outside major wineries, including Cable Bay, Mudbrick, and those in the Onetangi Valley.
If you’re driving, on-site parking for two cars is provided. E-bikes, scooters, taxis, and hire cars are also available across the island.
Other Things to Note:
This is a self-catered holiday home, not a fully catered stay. We provide a starter supply of essentials such as toilet paper, coffee, tea, and milk to help you settle in on arrival. Once these starter items have been used, guests are responsible for purchasing any additional supplies needed during their stay.
This property provides firewood for your entire stay.
Beach towels are provided at properties with an available pool or spa. Guests staying at properties without a pool or spa will need to bring their own beach towels.
The home sits on a steep site with an unfenced cliff edge and is not suitable for children.
Waiheke relies entirely on rainwater tanks, and water is a limited natural resource on the island. To support sustainable living and protect local supply, especially during the drier summer months we ask guests to be mindful of their water use throughout their stay.
Bookings are accepted on request only.
Minimum stays:
7 nights mid-December to mid-January
