Welcome to BigSky Sea Shanty. Enjoy countless hours taking in the elevated view and scanning the ocean for whales, seals and seabirds. Spend the evening by the recently upgraded Fire Pit . New lights and outdoor phone charging will make this a Family hang out hot spot! The most gorgeous sunsets happen every evening and will have you snapping picture after picture of their stunning beauty.

Enjoy the relaxing hot tub with family and friends. This cottage provides lots of privacy in a nature based setting overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. A truly breathtaking experience that lives up to its name with star filled skies and panoramic coastal scenery .

Located 25 minutes from the university town of Antigonish, where you will find all the things you need - groceries, fuel and restaurants. Use the cottage as a home base for adventures to Cape Breton Island and PEI , with both destinations being a 1 hour drive away. Or explore the many beaches and hiking trails in the local area.

There is so much to see and do in this welcoming part of Nova Scotia. You will never want to leave !

The view was gorgeous and enjoyed the house!! We only went downstairs to wash clothes but it smelled a little musty so glad we were sleeping upstairs. Also we read and reread directions for the hot tub but we could not get the top off and didn’t want to damage it. Can’t beat the view!!!

Hi there , I’m glad you enjoyed the view - it is spectacular. It is definitely heaven on earth, as I’ve been told. I’m sorry you had issues with the hot tub cover. I thought the 2 hot tub instruction videos I sent you explained the process. Had you reached out to me I would’ve had my property manager go over to the cottage and show you what to do. We have never had an issue with mustiness, however Nova Scotia did receive a large amount of rain in October. Again if you had let me know I could have sent someone over to ensure the dehumidifier was turned on and working. I hope, despite these minor concerns, you enjoyed your stay and will consider us again.

Truly enjoyed our time at the BigSky Sea Shanty! The views are unparalleled and the property is in a private area without any traffic. All amenities were provided and the hot tub was perfect for stargazing at nighttime. Lorin was a great host with lots of tips and suggestions for things to do in the area. Very prompt in responding to any questions. Very much appreciated our time at this cottage.

Beautiful, quiet retreat

The property was as advertised and the property manager was excellent. She contacted us prior to arrival to be sure we could find the property and gave us excellent suggestions on some things to do in the area as it was not the regular tourist season. We would definitely stay there again.

Spectacular!!!

The views from the property did not disappoint! We were comfortable and thoroughly enjoyed our weekend away. The host was so welcoming to me and my family. Everything was as promised, location could not be better, sunsets nightly from the hot tub. Doesn’t get any better. House had everything you will need and everything you forgot. It's a very cool house!!!

Clean, beautiful, authentic house. We vacationed with friends and two dogs. There were 6 of us and everyone was happy. The owner of the house was very helpful and kind. The view of the forest on one side of the house and the ocean on the other, we didn't want to leave. Would love to come back again. Thank you very much.

Antigonish Hospitality

We were greeted by this lovely lady who offered us a basketfull of homemade goodies (lemonade, apple jelly, lemon blueberry scones). As unusual as this may sound the cottage was even better than in the pictures. There was plenty of room and privacy for everyone with a few great spots to gather together. The views, the hot tub, the fire pit, the closed in porch for games at night, everything was perfect. And the people in the area are the very best. Would we recommend this amazing place? We sure would!

Everything needed for the perfect girlfriend weekend.

Six friends made time out of their busy schedules to spend the weekend together, and found everything they needed for a great weekend together. We parked our cars Friday, and didn't leave again until Sunday morning. With three bedrooms (1 queen, 2 doubles), we made use of the futon and couch in the basement to spread out the sleeping arrangements comfortably. Having two bathrooms was also great. It was a cool, damp weekend. We spent the majority of our time in the sunroom, as well as in the hot tub. We made all our meals in the kitchen, and ate together at the large dining table. Carolin, the host, could not have been more hospitable. She met us on the way to the cottage to show us the way, showed us around the cottage and how to operate the hot tub. She brought us a lovely basket of goodies. She checked in via text after that.

BigSky Sea Shanty is a very private and spectacular 3 bedroom/2 full bathroom cottage with access to the beach and shore located in Antigonish County overlooking the Northumberland Strait. You will enjoy the spacious 6 person Hot Tub, a new heat pump with air conditioning, a pellet stove in the sitting room in the basement and a wonderful heated solarium. The cottage is fully equipped, all you really need are your personal items and food.
This place is absolutely amazing, so peaceful and relaxing with many beaches, wharfs, hiking trails, and lighthouses all within a few minutes drive, or a walk using the cottages access to the shore.
With the naked eye you can see PEI, Pictou Island, whales, seals, sea birds, eagles, boats and cruise ships all from the beautiful wrap around deck or from the wonderful heated solarium in the front with access to the Hot Tub.
Meteor showers, falling stars and Rainbows are visible looking out over the never ending view and horizon. There is also a telescope and binoculars for better viewing and enjoyment.
