Newport/Dartmouth July Vacation

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The house was clean and well-stocked with extras, making it a comfortable and convenient base for exploring the area. The location was ideal, close to everything we wanted to do. It was a very relaxing time, and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Family Weekend

We enjoyed our stay and loved the location! The bay was less than a block away and a really nice neighborhood to walk. The Host thought of everything to make our stay nice! Easy trip to Newport and wineries!

Very thoughtful hosts. There were kayaks, air hockey plus game table, well appointed kitchen. It was a short walk to the water. It met all the needs of the family including a separate place for dad work.

Overall we loved this house. The amenities were great and the house itself felt very welcoming.There are a lot of stairs which I hadn’t taken into consideration with elderly parents tagging along, but we were able to go slow and it wasn’t a big issue.We loved that it was so close to the water and how nice and friendly the neighbors all were!We were very impressed with how clean the house was and we loved the care taken with beautiful plants and hanging baskets and the solar lights! If we are in the area again for an extended time I would definitely stay again!

Lovely Home

The home was lovely and had everything we needed to cook meals for the family. Half a block from the water made beautiful morning walks. Really appreciated being able to bring our dog with us. Will come back again.

Overall a great stay, the beach area was perfect for our small kids and the house was set up well for a multigenerational stay. Only complaint would be that the hot tub and 2 out of 3 of the bikes were not usable due to flat tires and rust. Definitely not a deal breaker for us though and I'd recommend or stay here again!

Great summer vacation place!

Truly loved the place! So accommodating, peaceful, beautiful. Comforts of home while away from home. Quiet neighborhood. Just a short walk to the waters’ edge. Friendly people. For my husband and myself it was our first trip the New England area. Our son and daughter-in-law thoroughly enjoyed it also. The Cottage by the sea was perfect. Will most definitely return to the Cottage by the sea. Owners were quick to respond to any questions we had. They provided a sweet gift bag, and extra toiletries in case you might have forgotten something. Thank you for the awesome hospitality. God bless you!

The property was clean and pet-friendly. The location was ideal - you can walk right to a small beach, bring bikes or walk to a little bit further beach. Neighbors were all very nice and lots of dogs in the neighborhood. Easy to explore Newport, Providence and more. Very close drive to Roger Williams. I think it should be clarified that the bedroom with twin beds is only accessible via the upstairs bedroom as the back spiral staircase is posted as "not for general use." The familiy has done a wonderful job of making the house easy to understand and navigate but I had difficulty getting the property management company (Evolve) to answer my emails and VRBO messages, which was disappointing. None of my attempts to communicate prior to the stay were ever answered.

This house was gorgeous! Well stocked, very welcoming. In a great neighborhood with the most gorgeous views of the water and very convenient to lots of restaurants, Newport, Bristol, Fall River. The only downside was we were really looking forward to using the hot tub, and specifically booked this house because of the hot tub, but the water was green and it had a bad smell. I emailed the property manager shortly after arrival, and she said she would send someone to check, but then we never heard anymore. I’m still giving it a 5 star rating, because it was one of the best neighborhoods we’ve ever seen and the owners did a fabulous job with stocking everything we would need and labeling things around the house. Thank you!

We were really excited about this property because the house itself is beautiful and has so much character, but unfortunately our experience was disappointing. After a 9 hour drive, we arrived around 5pm and found the home had not been cleaned after the previous guests. There were used sheets, dirty towels on the floor and the kitchen and bathrooms were dirty as well. While we understand this was a cleaning mistake, communication with the owner was difficult and we ended up coordinating directly with the cleaner ourselves. This should have been handled by the owner, not the guests. The home wasn’t ready until around 9pm, causing us to lose our first evening. That same night we discovered the back door would not lock. We contacted the owner but did not hear back until the following day. A handyman eventually provided a temporary solution, but spending our first night unable to properly secure the home was extremely stressful. Throughout the stay, we also noticed several maintenance issues, including doors that did not latch properly, loose kitchen drawers, a dishwasher that needed a deep clean, uncomfortable twin mattresses, and skylights in the master bedroom that leaked during rain. We appreciate that the owner refunded the cleaning fee, but given the condition of the property, communication issues, security concern, and overall maintenance, we don’t feel the experience reflected the price point of this rental and we would not stay here again.

The additional maintenance items you noted, including the kitchen drawers, dishwasher, mattresses, and skylight leaks, were not previously known to us, and we've logged each one for repair. We want every guest to feel comfortable and secure from the moment they arrive, and your experience helps us make real improvements to this property going forward.
