Scappoose

The property was indeed cozy and the host was very attentive and receptive. Scappoose is a small town, but it still had amenities like grocery shopping, coffee, and restaurants close by. We were able to see the coast, the surrounding cities, the mountains/volcanoes, and Portland while using Scappoose as a hub. It was a relaxing stay with plenty of room for a family trying to get away.

Never again

Next to railroad tracks and busy highway. Needs repairs. We cleaned the microwave and stove top. The Oster appliance was unclean. Very poorly lit. Bed sheets were stained. Towels were very stiff. We were very surprised that what we paid for this rental was not warranted. Railing to the upstairs had been cut down so it wasn’t easy to use. The tile floor in the kitchen had many cracks. The kitchen sink had two drains. One was a garbage disposal but it was left open because there isn’t a disposal. Windows need cleaning. Very depressing place to stay.

Dog show stay

Overall the house is set up well for people with dogs with 2 exceptions…. My puppy bit a electrical cord and was shocked. Thankfully he is ok. He also got a joint in the backyard in a can we somehow missed. The home owner quickly resolved the love wire coming out of the wall. The beds we’re comfortable and the house was well stocked. Because of this experience we will no longer just trust that a house is safe and always do a walk thru. The homeowner responded to this with lies. I said I had 5 dogs when I booked over the phone with a agent. My dog did not pull the cord out of the wall 8 feet. I have pictures and it’s on the listing that shows the live wire. I would not stay at this place again. You should be able to trust that where you are staying is safe. Doesn’t have live wires coming out of the wall nor does it have a can of cigaret and marijuana joint remains in the backyard near a post that makes it hard to see.

Jennifer, The homeowners were surprised to read your review, as they are accustomed to providing 5-star experiences, and would like to clarify the following: Owner's response: "We appreciate that the home worked for you and your dogs, but we were completely shocked that you showed up with 5 dogs. Your reservation was for 2 adults and 1 child. We are open to all our guests and we know things change, but as a courtesy, a heads-up would have been very much appreciated - We expect our guests to watch their children and pets to be sure they are not getting into anything, we had the contractor out immediately to fix the cord that your dog chewed on. The dog pulled the cord out of the wall 8 feet before he shocked himself. We were not aware that the cord was loose and could have caused so much damage, we are glad your dog is ok - This home is a smoke-free home we clean the yard and are careful to pick up little things that wander in from the outside. We do not know how the butt got into the yard as I have never seen anything like that on the property We truly go above and beyond for our guests, and are confident that future guests will have excellent stays! We will continue to deliver the 5-star experiences we know we can."
