They begin hatching off generally around late April and, depending on the species, into October with the famed October Caddis hatch. The United States Bureau of Reclamation is planning to complete a series of water reductions from a dam on the Colorado River to attempt to reduce the population of the caddisflies. However, Caddisflies are an important food source for many freshwater fish but are annoying to humans
