The best part is the large yard with a firepit, berry bushes, a pond, bunnies and more to explore. There are plenty of nice beaches with short hikes a few minutes drive away.Upon arrival, the kitchen garbage was half full and berries were left under the kitchen table and outside on the steps down towards the yard.Host is responsive and communicates well. The master bedroom's bathroom is not separated and the toilet is in full view of the bed. Good thing to know.The large kitchen, multiple dining locations (inside and outside), washer/dryer, and living room with record player are nice.We cooked two dinners for 8 people, and found that to be challenging with a random collection of kitchen supplies, most of which wasn't fully cleaned. The oven mitt needed replacement, but hot pads worked as alternatives.

Beautiful home but needs attention

Check-in and communication were easy/responsive. Host responded quickly and offered solutions for the most part. House is bright and airy and comfortable; however, it was NOT clean. Quick scan looked good, but attention to detail was needed. Chairs had crumbs and dirty handprints, drawer pulls were sticky, cutlery drawer organizer was dirty, pans were dirty and quite small for corn on the cob and pasta, plates and bowls were too few, bathroom faucets had soap scum (weeks' worth) build-up, bed sheets were polyester on some beds, towel hooks were coming out of the wall, beds and furniture had lots of dust and debris (even coins) underneath, plants were dead, pool table was warped, 4 of 6 pool cues were missing tips, bottom patio area had cob webs and plant debris. Supplies of towels, toilet paper, d/w detergent were limited or missing altogether. (Host gave us access to supply cabinet, so this was resolved, but only after being notified.) Other services requested and paid for in advance were not prepared/provided, which may have been due to communication between host and cleaner or lack of follow-up by cleaner.The property has lovely and thoughtful touches (many of which were unfortunately worn, broken or dirty) and the potential to be fantastic, but the above issues made the price too high for value received.

Perfect Location

Gorgeous property, beautiful house and perfectly located for our tri-generational family group. Close enough to go into Sooke for lunch, but also close to all the beautiful hiking spots and beaches. We made good use of the hot tub, which was very welcome after days of hiking. Both property owner and manager were extremely responsive.

Cute house for a getaway

Great house with lots of fun things to do. Hot tub, pool table, lots of books and games, and the interior decorating is nice. Small minor things I noticed would be the BBQ didn’t seem to fully light all 3 burners, and the 2 best pool cues didn’t have tips on them.

Great family vacation rental!

Our family enjoyed a peaceful stay at this beautiful secluded home on the western side of Vancouver Island. Our kids loved the pool table and games, there was a huge kitchen and great laundry room, deck area, and the hot tub was a big bonus as well! The beds were comfortable and the house was nice and clean. The host was very prompt to respond to our needs/questions/concerns. A couple small issues were the shower didn’t work in the downstairs bathroom, and we weren’t fans of the complete lack of privacy in the master bedroom bathroom. We LOVED the nearby hikes to the nearby China, Mystic, and Sombrio beaches, and also enjoyed a visit to the Sooke Potholes. Only wish we could have stayed longer!

House and yard was nice but not worth the price.

Nice house but failed to impress for the price. Couldn't use upstairs patio furniture as seating was all destroyed. For 6 people only left out 2 beat up 'hot tub only' towels. If you wanted the fireplaces, had to ask to get turned on, winter in Jordan River for the price they show have been turned on. Ants were everywhere in the house, no care taken to clean dead bugs from door jams, patio windows hand smears all over them. For price the it misses the mark.

Comfortable stay in a great location

We enjoyed our stay in Jack's house. It was very comfortable and quiet. The garden is gorgeous and the location is great for exploring the area. The gear in the kitchen was worn (knives were rusty, there was only one big bowl and the non stick pans were badly scratched). You have to cook in Jordan River as restaurants were few and far between so I was hoping the big kitchen would be better kitted out. The furniture on the deck was worn from exposure to the elements over time.
