House was really nice and exceptionally clean. The only issue we had was on our second afternoon/evening. The AC went out and unfortunately they were unable to fix the problem. We were only there for one more day so I would hope to think that if we were staying longer they would've fixed the problem.

We stayed at this property with our kids for a long weekend while we hiked at the New River Gorge and surrounding parks. The good: Excellent location, close to NRG, Beckley and state parks. Generally well-equipped, stocked with basics and toiletries. Beds comfortable. The bad: the house needs some updating. Some of the closet doors came off the hinges when you tried to open the door, curtain rods fell down when you opened the curtains, dryer doesn’t have a handle to open it.Those issues would’ve been fine understanding it’s an older home, but there were numerous ants around the kitchen sink and counter tops that we discovered on the first morning of our stay. We immediately notified the host as well as reached out to Evolve. We never heard back directly from the host despite texting, calling and leaving voicemails. We had to message/call Evolve twice and go through multiple agents before we found someone to reach out to the host - even then there was no resolution for the ants except for a 100 discount that was offered the next day. We eventually found a bottle of Raid to use under the cabinet, but this was clearly not ideal in cooking/eating areas. We’re glad that it was just ants and not a bigger safety issue during our stay, given how suboptimal communication was. We are seasoned travelers and have stayed at many short term rentals but would have difficulty recommending this place to others to stay until these issues are addressed.

Great Stay- Fun Times

House was perfect for our stay. Very clean and well furnished. We had all we needed. The location was close to all we wanted to do. Stephanie is an excellent host. Easy to communicate with, prompt and pleasant. If you get the chance, I recommend staying here. Good neighborhood and Oak Hill is a friendly area with lots to do.

Highly recommend

We very much enjoyed our stay here. The location was very convenient to New River Gorge, and It was also close to a grocery store and restaurants. The house was clean and comfortable. Although we didn't cook, the kitchen seemed well equipped. They were generous with the household goods, such as soap, paper towels, etc. The house was tastefully decorated and the furniture and beds were comfortable. If I came back to the area I would stay here without hesitation.

Weekend with friends

Our stay was great at this house! Communication with the owner was fast and efficient. We had a small hiccup with a ceiling fan in one of the bedrooms and the owner was fast and ordered a fan that was on our door step that evening! The house was very accommodating for our group of 6 adults, the kitchen had everything we needed to cook breakfast and dinner! The grill was an added bonus that we used! We would definitely stay here again.

Insect Infestation and Poor Communication

-There was a lack of communication with property manager (Stephanie). -There was a major insect infestation (kitchen, bedroom, and personal belongings) despite us cleaning and keeping the house tidy. We have photos and videos of the ant & spider infestation. We messaged the property manager the morning of the checkout because we had a packed schedule and wanted to maximize our stay. However, the property manager replied saying she was unaware of insects and implied if we told her sooner, she would have contacted maintenance. Shouldn’t Stephanie have informed us about the availability of maintenance prior to our arrival? -We then sent two additional follow-up messages along with more photos and videos and also asked for a partial refund but no reply. -We followed-up a third time stating we’ll escalate the complaint. Only then Stephanie replied with a long message, denying our request for partial refund. -We replied with a long message, having a clear timeline breakdown for further clarity. Stephanie hasn’t replied to this message yet…

Shared from the owner:"Hi Yuktha, I’m sorry to hear about the challenges you faced during your stay. I hadn’t received any reports of ants or spiders from previous guests or the cleaning team, but I’ve now placed ant treatments around the home to prevent future occurrences. I responded quickly to your messages and accommodated your early check-in and late checkout requests, so I wish you had mentioned the ants while you were there so I could have resolved the issue right away. I appreciate your feedback and hope to welcome you back for a better experience in the future."

Super clean and great location off Highway 19. Stephanie is a communicative and responsive hostess. Oak Hill is ideal for easy access to hiking, rafting, and other adventurous activities. The house is located in a safe area just off the highway which made it easy to get around to different areas (Tamarack Marketplace and lots of restaurants are 15-20min drive away). There is a Kroger for groceries one exit up 19. The Lost Paddle American Bar & Grill is DELICIOUS, and right at the adventure park resort. The beds were very comfortable, and the shower pressure hot water was great. The kitchen is spacious and well-stocked (could use more than 4 coffee mugs, though). Blackout curtains are an underappreciated feature and not all places have them, so thank you for this! It was easy to watch different apps/programs on the Smart TV. We will definitely stay again if we adventure in WV in the future!

Great location and clean.

The property was very clean and easy to access. The property is very conveniently located for site seeing and hiking the different areas in the New River Gorge Park. The furniture and beds were comfortable and the bathrooms were spacious. The outdoor area was great for relaxing outside and we used the grill for steaks one night. We would suggestion the owner put clocks on the bedside tables, one or 2 more towel hooks in the bathrooms and provide a toaster. There is a toaster oven but it did not seem to get the toast to brown up. I would highly recommend this property and would rent it again if we go back to the area.
