We stayed in this room for 2 nights following a 7-night stay in a different room at the same resort. This room has an incredible view and is relatively private. You can hear the surf which is really nice. The unit does not face the direction of the sunset but has beautiful views to the north and west.The unit itself is roomy for 2 people. Some previous reviews complained about the furnishings, but they are typical for the resort and was clean and comfortable. The only comment is the kitchen configuration is a little wonky. No issue cooking but an odd shape leaving some of the counter space unusable.There were no bugs, just friendly birds visiting us on the balcony.The resort itself provides a great location on a sandy beach, two pools (one geared for kids/families and one by the bar/restaurant geared for adults. There are daily activities, pickleball and tennis courts and BBQs. Grocery store across the street for the smaller items you don’t by at Costco.I would definitely come back and stay in this unit againMahalo

Other reviews describe condition fairly well. The unit is 20-30 years old? and shows it. Needs a thorough renovation. Kitchen cabinets and countertop well-worn. Stained carpet. Inoperable and leaky bedroom window. Poor lighting. Definitely needs repainting and freshening. Has a sink disposal but could not find a way to get it to run. I can appreciate the cost to take the unit off the market and invest in major remodeling vs. continuing to milk the cash cow, but the time of decision will come. Otherwise, the value proposition compared to other properties will be a real decision factor for potential customers.As for amenities, great location and view. Pretty quiet given surf and wind. Well equipped for modest housekeeping although some utensils and appliances need replacement (coffee-maker, some really dull knives for example). Great internet connection and TV programming choices. HVAC kept perfect temperature. Bed was very comfortable. No complaints about overall cleanliness.The unit did not affect our vacation experience at all. We had just as good a time as if we had stayed in a luxury suite. The resort location was tops with all its features.I can't overrate this unit on emotions. In terms of condition, a rating of two out of five is realistic; somewhat below average. Comparative value is average at a three rating. Our personal experience rating is four, above average. Overall, this property is average in our opinion.Can recommend if you temper your expectations.

Great View and Gorgeous Lanai

This would be a 5 overall but the inside of the unit has very dated furnishings. Very adequate but needs refurbishing to 2025. The bathroom was remodeled but they did not remove the old t bar ceilings, The bedroom curtains are shabby and the bedroom window needs weatherizing. The window might as well be open for any outside noise, waves are nice to hear but it was like the window was open. Kitchen needs remodel from 1980s. Furniture is very tired. Overall it was a nice clean unit but in my option needs significant updating. Lastly some directions on best parking would have been nice, We entered in the main entrance and the first trip from the car to the unit was a shlep but there is a parking area and elevator that are fairly close to the unit and that was not in the instructions.

Exactly as pictured

We stayed here for 10 days in March 2016. The condo was exactly as pictured. The bed was very comfortable, as was the sofa bed. We were thrilled to find a couple of beach chairs, boogie boards and pool noodles in the closet when we arrived. The management company was super helpful. We had one minor problem with the door when we were there and they were there to fix it within 30 minutes. Kaanapali Shores is a beautiful complex. The main pool was just renovated in December 2015 and it includes a waterfall you can swim under, little fountains that light up at night and bigger fountains that look like volcanoes at night. The kids loved it. The hot tub is huge which was nice. They have a good size parking ramp. The condo is a little walk from the parking ramp, but there is an elevator so you don't need to do any stairs. I spent many evenings whale watching from the lanai. I even spotted a couple of turtles on the surf line. Overall it was an amazing stay and I would totally recommend this condo to anyone else.

2.5 Stars: Bugs everywhere, Great View

The room had a great view of the ocean and the beach. The space was large. The bed was comfortable. And the water pressure was great. However… we killed over 100 bugs, and VACASA WAS NOT HELPFUL. They told us to buy our own bug spay and said they could not help nor could their local team. Locals and the resort all said this was NOT normal. 1. The Space is VERY dated. 2. The Kitchen has listed amenities is drawers that can’t be used unless you move the fridge 3. The Kitchen counter was broken, drawer by the microwave was broken. And the floor was sticky. 4. The lighting is cold and has a greenish tint to it. 5.) Vacasa takes no ownership and is completely unhelpful.

The view was beautiful but the condo itself needs some major updating. The carpet was filthy with stains and ripped up near the kitchen tile. Poor ventilation especially in the bathroom. You do not get access to all the amenities or free breakfast at the resort due to this is a private condo. Did not stock items very well. Less than half roll of paper towels. Little sample of shampoo and conditioner. Most places I’ve stayed stocked these items quite well. As we know Hawaii is very expensive. Overall it did its job but I would not rent this condo again.

Whale watching from your private balcony

Best location in Kaanapali! Whale watching from your room, snorkeling in front of the hotel, great beach trail leads to local shops at Whalers’ Village, and food truck park next door for wide variety of delicious choices. Gorgeous grounds, two pools, and even a gym in the hotel round out the best vacation ever!

The views are wonderful, loved spending time on the Lanai. Unit is definitely in need of an update.

Have never stayed north of the Kaanapali strip, enjoyed the area very much. November is a great time to come, lot less crowds everywhere.

The unit needs ALOT of updating

The unit was very clean, very spacious, great view, the bed was very comfortable...BUT it needs ALOT of work! A paint job would do alot, chunks out of the kitchen counter, carpet is awful, pulling away from the tile badly, fridge is very wore out, None of those pictures were put on of course. I would definitely stay at the Aston Kaanapali Shores again but not this unit as it is now.

Great View/Location, But Needs Updating

View was awesome, location is great. Walking distance to many restaurants/stores. Short drive to great shopping and awesome beaches. Resort is great, very well kept. Room is pretty dated but that was expected. Biggest issue is the window in the Master Bed does not close properly, if windy the window whistles from the wind, it also causes room to be warmer than rest of the place. The window also lets in a lot of outside noise, which made for a long night when there was a wedding on the property.

Great view

The view from the room was beautiful! We stayed for 5 nights & had a wonderful stay! Aside from the old & torn carpet between the living room and kitchen in addition to other minor details, we agree, this room does need some upgrades. We spent most of our time going to places, beaches, and stayed outside by the beach/pool. Although there are partial benefits, the place itself was a great place to stay at. The staff at Aston Kaanapali Shores were all wonderful and our toddler had a great time. When I called Vacasa regarding some questions that I had, they were very helpful. Love how the room has the coded keyless entry, it’s own washer and dryer, was stocked with supplies, and had supplies for the beach. We would come back and stay here again, but we would definitely try other places as this was our first time in Maui. Working in the hospitality business with Hilton’s for almost 9 years, I understand how it all works. I think it would help to put some personal touches to the stay such as messages or phone call check in’s to ask how everything is going and if there’s anything else that we needed. Overall, thank you for a wonderful stay!

Great Resort for families

Pool was great, Beach was nice and had a natural rock breakwater to keep the waves reasonable for the kids. Room itself was perfect and had a nice view of the beach and ocean with a lanai that was great for a morning cup of coffee or an evening glass of wine.

The ocean view from this unit is great. The grand-kids loved the pools. Also, the surf and sand at this complex was perfect for their boogie board skill level (ages 6-10)
