Spacious home, tranquil scenery

Had a lovely staycation with extended family. Large, spacious cottages for our group but also enough space for each family to have their own time. Beautiful greenery and views to wake up to. Loved the larger dining table to have meals around. Kids had fun exploring the grounds and visits from a water dragon. It was a memorable trip and great stay.

Great getaway for a group

We had a wonderful stay at the Forgotten Valley Country Retreat. It provided a wonderful nature sanctuary only a short distance from Sydney. The layout of the property works really well for large groups and with enough space in the central house for communal mealtimes. The communication with Shani was excellent and she made every effort to make sure we had an easy stay and check in process. Our group all left with happy and full hearts after a great weekend together. We would definitely stay again.

Lovely stay

This venue was perfect for our ladies getaway. It was close enough to Sydney to be convenient, but rural enough to completely switch off and relax with friends for the weekend. The living and dining space in the large cottage was perfect for shared meals and games, very spacious. This property is a great option for large groups of friends or families. Beautiful. The host was also very friendly and communicative. Recommend this place for sure.

Lovely quiet place

Plenty of room for large family and groups. It was great to sit around the outdoor fire and relax in the gazebo's. Great area for the kids to play on the swings and enough room to kick a ball. The huge table was able to fit us all for meals. The toys for the kids was great even the treasure chest in the bedroom. Plenty of books to read for all age's. Short walk to the pub and shops even down to the river.

Amazing wedding location

We booked this venue to use for our wedding and it could not have been more perfect! We had a small ceremony and reception inside the house and plenty of beds for family members to stay with us. Adam and Shani were amazing!!! They were so welcoming and helpful! It was relaxing and perfect. The photos from around the grounds look incredible. So happy we booked this place!

A great get away for a group. The only reason cleanliness is rated lower is the large bush natural setting which didn't bother us to much. Dust, spider webs, unclean windows but understandable in the enviroment.

Had a beautiful stay. There is endless space and lots of things to do. We definitely recommend especially if you are staying with a large group. The bathrooms are a bit dated but also need some repairs. One of the bathrooms the shelf was slanted so when my toiletries were placed on it they all slid and hit me in the head. Another bathroom we noticed had no towel on it when we arrived and we later realised it’s because it could not hold any weight without falling. A number of shower heads were beginning to rust through where one when you turn on the shower it sprays all across the bathroom itself. It is a rural setting so hard to keep clean but a more frequent outside clean will also help maintain the beautiful space. Would be a 10/10 property with a couple of shower head replacements.

Great for a Group Stay

Arranged a family gathering for my parent's 60th wedding anniversary. Plenty of room for us all and the 'young ones' were able to have one cabin to themselves. Dreamtime is the best of the bunch and includes play area and the largest fridge. Thought has been put in to what will make a comfortable stay - fully equipped kitchen, games, DVDs. Don't go expecting a 5 star stay - it is a rural setting. Basic but comfortable. Tank water so no long showers. A few issues with BBQ and kitchen but the host is very responsive. A relaxing stay

Forgotten Valley Country Retreat is in a lovely location and setting with a lot of potential to be an excellent holiday and function facility, and with proper maintenance, better cleaning standards and a different mindset it would be. The location is great, the amount of space across the three cabins is also great, and the facilities that are there (as compared with what are claimed to be there) are really good for a family gathering. The young children in our group really enjoyed the gardens, ponds and the wildlife that visited us. Note that several aspects of the property were not at all as described. There is no pizza oven. There is no hot tub (an indoor bath with jets is not a hot tub). The facilities in terms of the buildings are in desperate need of better maintenance. There are clear safety issues such as DIY tiling works with sharp pieces of metal sticking out in shower cubicles, holes in walls exposing live power cable, a rope swing that had been "repaired" with gaffer tape that broke with a six year old sitting on it, and many more. There are also a large number of "workarounds" with Bunnings lights setup in place of failed light fittings, and things that simply don't work across each of the cabins. During out stay, two out of three dishwashers were broken and one had been broken for so long that a strong stagnant water smell was coming from the surrounding cupboards. The lack of upkeep means visits have a negative experience, but the problem could so easily be fi

Hi Violeta, Thank you for your stay and your feedback. One out of the three dishwashers broke during your stay and we could have sent the handyman to repair it if we had known during your stay. There are no live exposed wires. The property was deep cleaned prior to your stay and we maintain high standards in regards to that. There are two indoor spa baths. They are not outdoor hot tubs. The pizza oven is a gas oven which is located near the BBQ with a cover over it. It is possible that it was overlooked? We are not aware of any short metal in showers and have done an audit of the showed to check without luck. Similarly, the tiling and other works are done through an experienced and qualified tradesperson. We did notice a two loose tiles after your stay which have been repaired. With 11 bathrooms, there are repairs that pop up but we keep on top of these before each booking. The Bunnings light fittings are not replacements for existing lights, they are additional lights for guests who may need more lights as the property also gets hired by groups who hold workshops and other functions. The rope swing did break during your stay. It was repaired and then clearly there was another break. We do apologise for that. It is one of those unforeseen things we could not predict. Beautiful location - very unclean

A few things need to be addressed such as the cleanliness of the property as a whole. One whole bathroom out of order. Shower rose in one ensuite comes off. The ensuites are so small you need to sit sideways on the toilet. Some Air cons and heaters not working. Massive list of rules and regulations that you don’t receive until a couple of days before you stay. E.g. remove shoes so as not to dirty the floors. This would be acceptable if the property was clean before we arrived. I hope the hosts rectify the problems soon as it is a wonderful location.

A great place for a reunion, very convenient to Sydney

We mustered a group of school mates and their families at Wiseman's Ferry. Perfectly convenient for friends coming from Newcastle, Canberra and all across greater Sydney. We had excellent and informative contact from Shani, the property owner, and were easily able to accomodate our group of 17 across the three main buildings. Having dual single beds in each room worked well. We congregated in the main conference room which was big enough for all of us to be in simultaneously, to prepare meals together, for the kids to use their games consoles on the TV all at the same time. We were sheltering from the blistering heat wave during the day and didn't feel crowded at all. The mornings and late evenings were spent wandering in the gardens and enjoying the courtyards. To cope with the heat we got great advice about using a local water park - we all soaked for hours and it was sensational. Rustic and suitable for a range of kids , we had 7 to 16yrs and a crew of adults. No problems, great location, very approachable and accomodating hosts.

Great spot for an elopement wedding!

We had our small wedding at the property with just family and close friends and it was beautiful! So many great spots for stunning photos and we made use of the pizza oven for dinner the night before. Shani left us a wonderful gift in our room to celebrate our wedding as well, which was really thoughtful and sweet! Having one cottage with lots of kids toys and books was a huge hit with the toddler that was with us as well Every guest having their own bathroom was a real plus, made it a great mix of communal and private. There's tons of kitchen space and communal spots to hang out and we were even able to bring caterers in (highly recommend the Italian menu from Gathar, if you're looking) to serve us dinner the second night. The only thing to be aware of is you need to give ample notice if you want any rooms set up to be double beds instead of singles and some rooms don't have working air conditioning so they get really hot during the day. Over all though, it's a fantastic spot for a small group and there's a lot of little touches around that really show how much Shani and her family care about creating a very special experience! Would happily go back and looking forward to bringing another group up there in the future to explore the stunning area and cute little town of wisemans ferry! Gut: Check-in, Kommunikation und Lage
Pizza oven was listed in house information but there wasnt one there. Lighting was poor inside and not safe outside. No one could get any of the TVs to work, after several phone calls for help. Decks were slippery and risky for older people. Had to clean out mouse droppings inside cupboards. Overall very run down buildings in need of much refurbishment. Outdoor settings were run down and dirty - in need of replacement and covers.We did enjoy firepit - space in yard - tranquility - close to town - room for families - wildlife visits.This place could be very good if some of the maintenance issues are addressed.

The common grounds include landscaped gardens in a beautiful woodlands area and surrounded by forests, mountains, fields and river glimpses.

The gardens include pathways and a small flowing creek with a water feature pond. There are gazebos and picnic spots to relax and take in the tranquil surrounds.
