Blounts Creek Stay

The property was very clean and the kitchen was well stocked with everything needed to cook and we were provided with free coffee and creamer. Cookies were also provided as well for our nibbling pleasure. There was plenty of places for everyone to sit and relax and everyone had a place to sleep. It was great to be able to bring our dog to the property.

People were living in the house.

We didn't even get to stay since the house had apparently been rented long term. The property manager was very polite and immediately initiated a refund. Unfortunately, we had to find somewhere else to stay on very short notice.

Home away from home

We live locally and were doing some remodeling. We had to find a place near work that we could still enjoy all the perks of home. The property manager was super helpful and kind. We had everything we needed which was nice. The house is older so there are a few things that needed some TLC but that happens in older homes and the property manager wanted to now specifics of anything that needed addressing. He went out of his way to make sure we felt at home. Our area is beautiful with many nearby adventures to await. We really enjoyed our stay and being able to bring our fur babies with us. If you need a quiet, secluded get away near lots of water attractions and quaint downtown districts this is the spot for you. It was so peaceful and we looked forward to getting off work and coming home to relax! Thanks Brian for the best time!

Quiet, older getaway

It was clean w/ water n snacks waiting. Very functional. The wifi did not work and hallway light and bedroom light/ceiling fan would not work. There is only 1 pull out sofa. Some mold in the ceiling over the front door. My biggest complaint is my contact person, Brian, would not call back so I could inform of what didn’t work and shade that was broken. Overall it was not bad and the peace and quiet was wonderful as well as being close by my family to visit for the weekend. I did not like having to strip all the beds before leaving. We would stay again when going to visit our family.

Keep Looking

Prior to check-in, we were contacted by the owner to let us know that she would meet us at the property to personally to give us the keys. This differed from what was described to us previously, but no big deal... As we got closer to our destination, we received another call from the owner to tell us that she would not be available when we arrive, and the keys would be under the doormat. The neighborhood was “quiet” or abandoned, you chose. Yards were unkept and filled with trash and abandoned projects. Houses were run down and being consumed by nature. Ultimately it comes down to angles… The photos in the listing were taken at the right angles… The back yard is full of junk like the houses leading up to it. Vent covers were falling out of the front wall of the house. A carpet infested with mold and mildew lined the front porch. Flakes of rust were coming out of air vents inside the house. The flooring was done half-ass at best, it was full of cracks and debris. The doors inside the house were old, hollow, and splintering. The bathtub was dingy and stained. The kitchen doors leading outside were very hard to lock. Mold and mildew was on the ceiling, near the entrance. The overhead light and fan didn’t work in one bedroom and the mattresses in both were made out of a hard foam. Each room had a device plugged into a wall outlet with bright light on the front. We unplugged the one in our bedroom during our first night. After a quick Google search, we found that these are rodent deterrents. They remained plugged in for the remainder of our stay. The TV is located far out of the way and desperately needs an upgrade. The internet is running at the speed of dial-up. For check-out we were instructed to do a general clean of the house. In doing so, we found the pillows to be well loved and stained. We removed the trash, I took pictures to backup the claims in this review, and we got out of dodge! We have taken time to let emotions subside and we wrote this review to inform others and hopefully spark changes. Washington is an amazing place to visit! We almost left the first night to check into a hotel but decided to stick it out and I’m glad we did. I believe the owners have good intent. Belongings in the house were kept neat and a basket of snacks waited for us on the kitchen table. If I had to guess, I would say putting this property on VRBO was an afterthought. It has potential but it will only get worse if corrections are not made.

They assured us that the property is thoroughly cleaned, inside and out, before each arrival.
