The cottage was beautifully furnished. Every time you looked around you spotted something you had missed before. Everything was clean. The beds were very comfortable. There was wonderful light in every room to be able to read. We enjoyed sitting outside in the sun in the Adirondack chairs and were able to walk the causeway at least once a day. We would definitely stay there again..

Loved the place. The location was perfection! So quiet and lovely. The decor was so cute and cozy. Albert was an excellent host. I have been waiting to do the causeway for 2 years and this was the perfect location for me.The access to the beach was so nice!

The location was perfect for our plans. Bike riding the trail and The Causeway. We also were able to walk to the Causeway a couple of times. The use of kayaks was a great bonus. Just a note. The only bathroom is inside of one of the bedrooms. Worked for us but may not be suitable for all guests. Drive to Burlington from house was easy.

The check in process was super smooth and we were able to check in early which was great. The house was just steps away from the Causeway which was great for morning and evening strolls! They also added a new stove/oven that worked well. However, the place needed a good clean. Lots of spiders in the corners, stains on the shower shelves, and a bit of a musty smell in the front porch area. We also couldn’t really find the lake view with the picnic table shown in the listing photos. It looked like the neighbors house, the only other picnic table we could find didn’t have the expected water view. The listing has been updated recently to include lots of AI photos - I probably would’ve skipped this place if they were there when I was booking as I think it’s misleading. The host was kind and helpful, and we still enjoyed our weekend in Burlington.

Thank you for your feedback. We are pleased that you enjoyed the smooth early check-in, the new stove and oven, and Dawson’s convenient location beside the Causeway. We are sorry the cleanliness details did not meet your expectations. In three separate communications, we invited you to contact us if you needed anything. Because these concerns were not reported during your stay, we did not have an opportunity to inspect or address them while you were there. We will nevertheless review them with our cleaner. The directions to the shoreline stated: “Walk across the street toward the yellow cottage. Continue just beyond it. Turn left onto the short, wide path leading directly to the shoreline.” The yellow cottage and its stairs are private property and are not the designated access. Unfortunately, the neighboring owner had to redirect you after you entered his property. The cottage, its location and its listed amenities are genuine. Some recently added lifestyle images are artistic promotional renderings based on the actual cottage and surroundings. We understand that travelers may prefer documentary photographs, and we are reviewing the listing to ensure that the distinction is completely clear. We appreciate your kind words about the host and are glad you still enjoyed your weekend in Burlington.

This cottage is so gorgeously decorated and was a perfectly located and super comfortable stay for our Burlington getaway. The cottage is easy to walk to the water, which was beautiful. Overall, my grandson and I had an excellent stay. The host, Albert, was incredibly responsive to every question we had. The check-in instructions were excellent and there was a laminated sheet with instructions for everything we needed to know. The kitchen was well equipped and everything worked. Now, one has to keep in mind that this is a lake cottage not a timeshare resort Villa. So “rustic” would be an appropriate adjective. There’s an air conditioner in the master bedroom and a large split level AC unit in the living room which kept the whole place cool. And the entrance to the Causeway was less than 100 yards from our cabin, making it very easy to get to the bike trail which we spent the better part of two days exploring. One comment, which has been mentioned by other reviewers, is the lack of an exhaust fan in the bathroom which left it humid such that the bath towels and washcloths didn’t dry. We solve that problem by simply taking the bath towels and hanging them over the railing in the morning and by the time we got back they were dry and odor free. For those looking for a lake cottage getaway with easy access to the bike trail. I highly recommend this property.

We really enjoyed the proximity to the causeway and Burlington very much. The cottage was an eclectic decor which was interesting and fun. The part that concerned us a bit was that the bathroom had mold on the ceiling and shower head, and no ventilation in the bathroom. We had to open the window to get the air to vent. Which was on the front lawn. We ran out of toilet paper because there was one roll. The Coffee was available but no sugar or creamer. The powder would have been fine. Also the lawn could have been mowed because with overgrowth comes ticks and such. We the area and outdoors very much.

First off, the place was clean and everything worked.Otherwise the unit had a strong mildew odor, had 1 very tiny bathroom, terrible interior lighting, and very uneven floors which made walking around difficult. It is not a lakefront property. Visitors have to walk or drive a good ways to find a lakefront heach or kayak launch.As others have mentioned, this is not a true 2 bedroom unit. The bath can only be accessed from the tiny bedroom, and the unit is so small, there is no place to put your luggage other than the second bedroom. This unit is for 1 couple only.The interior is quite old and has not been renovated in many years. We were disappointed by the run down feel if the unit for the price we paid.The worst part was the weird and disturbing bevior or the owner. He accused us of trespassing on the neighbors property. We did not trespass or enter the neighbors property. After being accused, we spoke directly with neighbor who confirmed we did not trespass. We told the owner this, but he would not let it go. He continued to harass us and said we definitely the trespassers. This continued for a couple days. This made us feel very uncomfortable as we couldn’t understand this weird behavior on the part of the owner. We were a little frightened and just quit communicating with the owner and left the unit as soon as we could.We cannot give a good review as people should be aware of that this owner could seriously disrupt your stay

Thank you for noting that Dawson’s Diggs was clean and that everything worked properly. I am sorry the cottage did not meet your expectations. Dawson’s Diggs is a small, older seasonal cottage, and its photographs and description show its size, sleeping arrangement, and that the bathroom is accessed through the smaller bedroom. It is not advertised as a private lakefront property. Guests are provided directions to the designated shoreline and kayak access because neighboring properties and their stairs are private. Regarding our communication, a neighboring owner told me that he had spoken with guests near his private access while my other cottage was unoccupied. I passed that information along only to protect the neighbor’s property and clarify the proper access route. When you assured me that you had not used his stairs, I accepted your explanation. It was never my intention to frighten or harass you, and I regret that my messages made you uncomfortable. I take the comments about the mildew odor and interior lighting seriously and will have both inspected and addressed. Dawson’s Diggs is best suited to one couple seeking a simple, rustic cottage near the Causeway, and I will continue working to ensure that its description makes that character and layout unmistakably clear.

Bike Trip Stay

The cottage was perfect for our bike trip, the trail was accessible from the cottage. The decor inside the cottage was awesome and we enjoyed our stay.

Comfy, cozy, cottage

Thoroughly enjoyed the lake house and access to the Lake and walking the causeway/bike paths. Glorious time of year to be in Mallets Bay!!

Very much as described. Dunno if the property would be as comfortable in full winter, however.

Very quiet and private

The cottage was clean and comfortable. Easy access to Burlington. Great for a short visit to the area. Highly recommend it.
