Things to See and Do

This small country town on the north-western edge of the Snowy Mountains is 42 km from Tumut. The old town of Talbingo lies under the waters of Jounama Pond, one of the waterways created by the Snowy Mountains Hydro-electric Scheme.

There are plenty of outdoor activities to do around Talbingo. Yarrangobilly Caves are nearby, on the Snowy Mountains Highway. Don't miss the spectacular limestone formations in the South Glory, Jersey and Jillabenan caves. Inspect Tumut Power Station, go trout-fishing in nearby streams and rivers and bushwalking in state forests. You can even enjoy a good soak in the Glory Hole thermal pool at Yarrangobilly Caves
