Excellent stay at Beck Cottage with great hosts.

Excellent stay at Beck Cottage with great hosts. Super quiet place at night with only the sound of the nearby stream that runs alongside the garden, during the day we were regularly visited by the resident ducks, red squirrel and birds. I marked it down on the local amenities rating but only because it's quite a drive to get to a decent shop for foodstuffs so thankfully we came prepared but that's something to note. There is a pub a short drive away which does meals though (best book a table!) and there are some good walks within very easy reach. In all an excellent stay, would stay here again.

We've just returned from 7 nights at Beck Cottage.

We've just returned from 7 nights at Beck Cottage. The hosts are a charming couple and they've created a little piece of heaven here, which is perfect for nature lovers. The cottage is positioned by a babbling beck with a front garden teeming with wildlife: a constant stream of garden birds flitter around the feeders; chubby geese waddle freely; and the star of the show, the beautiful red squirrels, nibble nuts outside the conservatory on a daily basis. We even saw a tawny owl staring from a tree as we drove home one night. It's very close to Ennerdale Water, a wild and rugged place, far removed from the more touristy areas of the Lake District. We highly recommend Beck Cottage for a quiet and relaxing break. Review independently collected and verified by Reevoo

Wonderfully quiet and secluded.

Wonderfully quiet and secluded. Just what the doctor ordered - literally. Great walking and canoeing local to the cottage. A great base to explore the much quieter and beautiful Western Lakes. A delightful, comfy, cosy cottage/house.

A delightful, comfy, cosy cottage/house. Very well equipped, warm to come back to after cold days out, it felt like home from home. It's remote, well away from much in the way of amenities, unless you count a large lake within walking distance, lakeland fells and red squirrels to watch out for. They love hazelnuts, though how they KNOW you've put some out on the bird feeder is beyond me. Lots of birdlife, too. Very helpful, pleasant owners on site. All in all, a lovely holiday.

Sue and Hugh are absolutely wonderful people- friendly and helpful.

Sue and Hugh are absolutely wonderful people- friendly and helpful. Perfect cosy cottage if you want to get away from it all- a very peaceful location with just the noise of the beck and wildlife. Fully equipped cottage with everything you could need. Area has everything you would expect from the Lake District without the crowds. We hope to return.

Red squirrels and rare birds right outside your door, a comfy hideaway amongst breathtaking scenery, walks flat and hilly with lake and mountain hikes to choose from plus fascinating shops in Cockermouth and Keswick. A little piece of heaven!

We had a lovely relaxing holiday. If you want lots of amenities then Ennerdale isn't the place to go. For us it's seclusion is exactly what we were after. The Cottage was comfy and well equipped. It isn't huge but perfect for us.

A well equipt, warm, clean and comfortable cottage in a great location.

A well equipt, warm, clean and comfortable cottage in a great location. It was wonderful to see so many birds on the feeders in the garden and inparticular the red squirels right out side the window. Ideally placed to visit / walk around Ennerdale, Buttermere, Wastwater and the west coast plus if your fit enough there are numerous high peaks within easy reach. Owners were very friendly, they went out of there way to ensure the cottage had everything we needed All helped by a complete week without a spot of rain

Only 2 of us stayed here, (not 4 as originally planned), so it was ample for our needs. The owners were very friendly and helpful, but we had our privacy too as the cottage is tucked away behind some barns. Very peaceful.
