The Vichiaccio Villa is located among the vineyards of the Chianti countryside and was built where once stood the ancient castle of Vicchio, now destroyed. The ruins can still be seen in the woods. The castle was located in a strategic position, on the road called of Strada dei Pecorai ,that in the medieval period was used to move, during winter, flocks of sheep from Pratomagno and Casentino to the Maremma, passing front of the church of Sant'Angelo Vico l’Abate .
The Church contained precious paintings now kept in the Museum of Sacred Art in San Casciano Val di Pesa.
With a short walk through the vineyards you can reach Castello Di Gabbiano, ancient residence of the noble family Soderini and today turned into a a prestigious wine production centre.
In the area is also the Castelli del Grevepesa, a large winery that produces Chianti Classico where you can buy wine at the Enoteca.
There are many restaurants and pizzerias within walking distance or by car.
Mercatale Val di Pesa is the nearest village, which is about 7 kilometers away, where you can go shopping, buy a newspaper, take a coffee and buy typical products of Chianti, as well as finding the bank and the post office,
but if you want in Il Ferrone,2 kilometers from the Vichiaccio, there is a food shop that sells a great bread and delicious meats and cheeses.
San Casciano Val di Pesa is 10 kilometers and is the most important center. Here you can visit the weekly market which takes place on Monday Morning.
Greve in Chianti to 14 kilometers is Considered the gateway to the Chianti region with its funnel-shaped Piazza Matteotti, surrounded by arcades with small shops selling local products and reataurants.
Impruneta 8 kilometers is famous for its terracotta.
