Lovely place for a family holiday. Stated with cousin and children (3 adults, 4 teens between us) and had a great week. House was very clean and tidy, well equipped (landlady, Jane, left things like dishwasher tablets and enough towels etc) and had everything needed. Lovely little garden and a balcony for breakfast. Good off road parking. Location was an easy 5 min drive to beaches and 15 mins to Tenby. Local Chinese takeaway also really good.Only thing to bear in mind is owner does have a couple of small dogs - they were not there during stay, and would not have noticed at all if son didn’t have a bit of an allergy - but nothing some antihistamine didn’t sort out.Thanks for a lovely stay - we had a great week!

Great house with a few notes to visitors.

The house is beautiful, super clean and in a lovely area. Beds were really comfy which is great. However visitors need to be aware of things that aren’t in stated in the listing…the house is actually on 3 floors, not 2 and the owner lives downstairs. Although the owner uses the garden entrance to her lower floor, there are open stairs in the main property just leading down there. It feels like anyone can just pop into our area of the property which felt a little uncomfortable. Also the garden is on the bottom level so access is down a lot of steps leading out of the back door. It wasn’t an issue at this time of year but if it was summer, this would have been a dealbreaker for us. Also the owners lower level leads onto and looks onto the garden area which would have been odd if we were using the garden in the summertime. Although the house is stated as dog friendly, on arrival the owner requested that our small Jack russel be kept in the kitchen area at all times. Not really dog friendly then. On the whole, a lovely property but we wouldn’t return for the aforementioned reasons.

Thank you for saying my home is lovely and clean. My home is split level , it is listed as two floors as only two floors are available for guests use. On the ground level i have 2 garden flats, one is available to rent off peak when main house is not rented and other is for storage owners use only. Due to unforeseen circumstances i am now staying in the flat, i am sorry you felt uncomfortable as i spent most of my time at my daughters. I am no longer letting out during the winter months or taking pets i hope with guests most off the time being at the beech and sight seeing if i have to pop in during the day it will not be a problem. There are 10 or so steps leading from side of my house accessible through a door in the kitchen into back garden.

A brilliant choice for a family

This is a great property with loads of space - we stayed for a family get together and had ample space for everyone. It’s thoughtfully arranged and fabulous if you are travelling with kids - there is a travel cot, high chair, toys, baby bath, all provided. Super convenient. The property is a drive from Tenby but that wasn’t difficult and we found it easy to park etc in Tenby. It has a lovely location, and has a couple of shops nearby for convenience. Jane was LOVELY and very helpful. We’d recommend it.

The perfect spot

The property is spotlessly clean, and set in a great location, only a few minutes away from all the attractions the kids wanted to see. The children really enjoyed the games provided and the garden was very pleasant for us to sit in and watch the birds and squirrels. A comfy bed is important to me, and I was not disappointed, it was lovely. For cooking in , there are plenty of kitchen utensils, pans etc, everything you would have in your kitchen at home. We had a very enjoyable week at squirrels rest, and were made to feel very welcome by Jane.

We had a very enjoyable stay at Squirrels Rest, it was easy to book and it was as described. It was spotless clean and equipped to a high standard. It is very spacious and the grand kids spent hours playing in the play room. I would definitely recommend it to anyone especially those who want a family break together and we would go there again without hesitation.

Cosy and comfortable

Myself and my family stayed for 2 nights over the weekend for Ironman Wales. We arrived late on saturday night and were welcomed warmly by Jane. It was fantastic to be able to come in and chill out right away with the complimentary wifi and Sky. After Ironman finished on Sunday we were all so thankful for the hot showers and fresh towels after such a long day following the triathletes. everything we could need and a bit more

We arrived to find house packed to the rafters with everything we could need and a bit more. We took so much with us to entertain the grandchildren but there was so much to do in the house and around the area that we didn't even unpack their toys. My grandsons didn't want to leave! The house was beautifully presented, clean and well maintained and felt like a home from home. We didn't feel like we were on holiday, it felt more like we were house sitting for a friend. We tried a lot of the local attractions suggested by the owner especially Folly Farm which was very good value and Dinosaur Land. We loved it so much that on our return home we booked for next year. 10 out of 10.

Home from home - a perfect place to stay

The squirrels rest is in a quiet cul-de-sac, and the perfect location for a holiday home. Well furnished and spotlessly clean, the house really did feel like a home from home. After a lazy day on the beach, the kids loved coming back to play on the xbox, whilst we enjoyed the large TV and selection of DVDs. Two bathrooms and plenty of bedrooms meant everyone was happy. The kitchen has all mod-cons and Jane the owner was more than helpful when showing us around her lovely property. Her gifts of local honey and fine wine, certainly made our stay extra special. We all enjoyed our time at the squirrels rest and hope to rebook soon.

Practically perfect in every way : )

We were greeted by a Jane upon arrival whom made us feel really welcome. Her home is superb, well equipped throughout and lots of space. We had our 4 year old granddaughter with us and she fell in love with the house saying it was her other house ( Jane did have a cupboard with children's dressing up clothes) but it wasn't just down to that. We all liked the location as it wasn't far to go to Saundersfoot or Tenby and there are some amenities close by. Jane you have a beautiful home and a great eye for detail for your guests to enjoy. What a wonderful holiday home!

We stayed with our son's family (4 adults and two children, ages 3 and 6) at Squirrels Rest and had a really terrific week. The house is beautifully furnished, spacious, extremely comfortable and equipped to a higher standard than any holiday home we have ever stayed in. Nothing has been overlooked and Jane made us feel at home right from the off. Eleven out of ten!!

A clean and well equipped family home

The house was as advertised - well maintained, equipped and could accommodate our extended family very well. The electronic games and Sky TV kept our teenagers occupied in quiet times. The downstairs shower room was helpful for our older family members. We enjoyed the balcony and the garden which was very relaxing. We were a little disappointed that there were few local facilities - shops and pubs etc. which meant that we had to use the car whenever we wanted to go out and we couldn't locate good dog walking country from the house itself - again necessitating the use of the car. The owner met us on arrival and departure and left us with a mobile number should we need to contact. Locally we would recommend the Blue Lagoon water park and the spa at the Bluestone Resort. We also had a lovely day out in Tenby - smashing beaches and an interesting pedestrian friendly town to look round - something for everyone.

Squirrels Rest is located in a quiet cul de sac in a residential area. At the top of the road 5 min walk is a post office, Spar, garage and Chinese restaurant and bar. There is a small play area / park for children but dogs are not allowed in. Other than that Saundersfoot village, killgetty village and Tenby town, beachs are a short drive away. As a rule i don't take dogs but after booking if a guest asks me if i would consider letting there pet come i do consider it, and if they agree to my pets terms and conditions i allow them to bring there pet. As its not something i encourage or use as a selling point to attract guests i am sorry my guests were disappointed there was no where close by to exercise there dog.

Excellent value for money

Everything you could need for a family stay, our children didn't want to leave the cottage, play station, xbox & tv's in every bedroom! Even a frame for my parent was supplied. It is near some lovely beaches & the weather helped as able to explore wales

Great place to stay For Ironman Wales in Tenby

'Squirrels Rest' was even better than we expected - it was clean, well-equipped andv very spacious - which is amazing for saying we had 3 Ironmen with us!! Exceptionally homely and well equipped house

We had a great holiday here. The house is really homely with lots of attention to detail. It is very well equipped, particularly the excellent kitchen. We had lots of fun with the table football too, and relaxing at night with the large TV. The house is in a very peaceful residential area with easy access to everywhere in the area. We very impressed with Pembrokeshire with mountains, superb coastline, islands and beaches. Saundersfoot was relaxed and pleasant, Tenby (10 mins away) was very pretty with a striking view around every corner (reminded us of Italy), St. Davids was memorable, Caldey island was peaceful and restorative, and the countryside is scattered with stone age monuments and superb views.

Squirrels Rest

I would fully recommend this property. We stayed over the Bank Holiday period and despite appalling weather found plenty to do, both indoors and out. Property is generous in size,clean and very comfortable with everything you that you could possibly need and more. All rooms are of a very high standard, attractively decorated with lovely bedlinen and towels provided. The property is situated within easy reach of all major tourist attractions,Tenby,Saundersfoot. We Particuarly enjoyed Folly Farm and Heatherton Country Park as our party included adults and small children. Customer service has been excellent with friendly,helpful communications throughout. A very comfortable base for any holiday. Would visit again anytime.

The location so close to Saundersfoot and Tenby but in a very quiet cul de sac so all you hear is the birds singing all day. I look after our home very well as it is our home not a business holiday home.

Tenby's North and South beach, Castle and Harbour beaches are regulars on the Blue Flag list of clean beaches. North features pretty rock pools, while Harbour is fringed by colourful houses and fishing boats.
Castle beach is at the base of a cliff and is a great stretch to walk the dogs, South beach is a golden sandy stretch that leads to Wales oldest golf course.
There is 186 miles of coastal path ideal for taking in the most spectacular coastline views.
There are 51 castles and forts in Pembrokeshire including enormous stone fortresses like Pembrokeshire Castle, Manobier Castle and Carew Castle
